Hello doctors My baby in six month & we have started DAAL WATER. Request pls confirm whether we can add CURD in daily routine or guide what other diets which can add parallel to mother feed.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Rewa
Please use home cooked semi solids like sooji, daliya, khichdi, daal chhaval, etc. Daal pani has no nutritional value so don't use it similarly fruit juices are not recommended, use mashed fruits. Add oil or ghee in diet to increase taste and caloric value, curd you can use it. Is very good for everyone.

Basic information given above is of my baby girl. She is of one and half month age. My question is whether to provide water for my baby during this hot summer or not? Is it necessary to give gripe water?

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Rewa
You should give only mother's milk fo 6 months. Breast milk contains enough water to quench the thirst of baby, all prelacteals including gripe water should be avoided.

Little children can`t differentiate in between day and night you need to get him to develop habbit. Darken the room at particular time every day, switch off tv, put away mobile phone and sleep with baby. Gradually the child will learn.

Sir my 5 months baby girl looks week and she sucking her all finger all time after feeding. Can I give her any other think.

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Rewa
It`s a natural reflex don`t worry, what is her weight. Give only mother`s milk up to 6 months of age then supplement home cooked food and continue mother`s milk minimum up to 2 years. Formula feeds I don`t recommend.

A 6 kg weight at 4 months of age is good, your child is normal give him only mother`s milk up to 6 months of age if at all you want to give any suppliment then please give vit. D3 400 iu/day. The diarrhea you mentioned is usually a normal occurance in breast fed babies.
