Hi I am suffering from hypothyroid since long approx 8 year age 34 .I was using 150 mcg tab in morning I tested t3 t4 tsh which was normal on 13 Feb after 13 Feb I started 125 mcg tab then check again on 24 Feb my t3 t4 is normal but tsh is high. I started regular exercise in gym from last 1.5 hence I decided to reduce mcg 150 to 125. What should I do now it need to start again 150 mcg.
I'm on glizid 40 once a day before breakfast since last 6 years but now my blood sugar keeps at high readings. Random blood sugar reading yesterday night showed 284 reading. Kindly suggest some medication 2 control d same.
I am having high sugar (160 - 240). I started walking and having controlled diet along with Medicine. (DYNAGLIPT-M & GLYCIPHAGE 1gm). Is it require to take these medicines lifetime. Or I can stop it once sugar is controlled. Is there any disadvantages if I stop taking medicines once sugar is controlled. Thanks

What is glycemic index?
It is a simple number that lets you know how fast your body converts carbohydrates in your food into glucose. Two foods with the same number of carbohydrates can end up having different glycemic index numbers. The bigger the number, the higher impact it has on your blood sugar levels.
- 55 or less is low and good for controlling sugar
- 56-69 is mediocre
- 70 or higher indicates a high number and is not so good
Where to Look for the glycemic index or GI?
Look for the indication on the labels of packaged food. You can also find the glycemic index for common foods on the Internet or ask your dietician for the same. Also, keep in mind that natural foods like fruits and veggies have a lower glycemic index than refined or processed foods.

Find the right balance
If a food has a high GI, does it mean you should avoid consuming it? Well, not necessarily the glycemic index should not be the prime consideration when making choices about what to eat, you should also consider other nutrients. For example, potato chips have a low GI than oatmeal. Also, the portion size of the food matters. It is good to offset a food high in GI with a food low in GI. If you take a food that has a high glycemic index during the day, be sure to balance it with a food that has a lower glycemic index in the night.
Keep in mind that when you eat a well-balanced meal full of protein, fats and carbohydrates, the digestion of the food that has a high GI slows down and shoots up the blood sugar level. So, it is important to find the right balance.
I have hypothyroidism for which I take eltroxin 75 MCG tablet. When I get my thyroid checked it is ok. But the problem is this that, I feel very lazy all the time and feel like taking rest all the time.
During pregnancy, it is not uncommon for women to contract thyroid diseases like gestational hyperthyroidism and gestational hypothyroidism. The main problem, however, is that the symptoms of gestational hypothyroidism are very much similar to those which can be observed during a normal pregnancy. There may be a variety of causes that are responsible for the development of gestational hypothyroidism but the most common cause is usually an autoimmune disease known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, which stimulates the body's immune system to attack thyroid gland cells, leading to a deficiency in the number of active thyroid cells and enzymes, and ultimately resulting in a shortage of the thyroid hormone.
Treatment for gestational hypothyroidism is normally uncomplicated, and follows just two simple steps:-
- Proper diagnosis, via the use of a synthetic hormone called levothyroxine, which is very much similar to the hormone T4 produced by the thyroid.
- Continuous monitoring of thyroid function tests held every four to six weeks during pregnancy.
