Scaphoid got fractured on 12th of June, post which, underwent 3 weeks of plaster. After removal of plaster, I did x-ray after a month and a half but upon x-ray the results were a let down. It didn't get fixed. Revisited the doctor and he suggested a surgery to remove the fragmented bone. Another doctor asked to give another 45 days of plaster a shot. I am in a very cumbersome situation right now. What advice will you suggest?

Scaphoid is your wrist bone, one of your carpals bone. A scaphoid fracture, a fracture of the scaphoid bone also known as the carpal navicular, is the most common type of carpal bone fracture. [1] scaphoid fractures usually cause pain at the base of the thumb accompanied by swelling in the same area. Scaphoid fractures usually cause pain and sensitivity to palpation in the anatomic snuffbox at the base of the thumb accompanied by swelling in the same area. These are also called navicular fractures (the scaphoid also being called the carpal navicular) as navicular is the traditional name for the scaphoid bone, although this can be confused with the navicular in the foot. Treatment depends on the location of the fracture. Fractures of scaphoid can occur either with direct axial compression or with hyperextension of the wrist, such as a fall on the palm on an outstretched hand (foosh). The most common classification of scaphoid fractures categorizes them by location: distal third (distal pole), central third (waist) and proximal third (proximal pole) using the herbert classification system. Advice: I won`t advice you for surgery, you can go according with your other other oerthopaedic surgeon to again get in plaster for 45 days, but visit him in every 15 days to get assured your healing is on the right track. Healing varies depending on the individual, nothing to worry, and keep a strict diet, whatever your doctor suggested. It`s happen certain times, but you should`nt worry, but please don`t opt for surgery because surgeries are not successfull.

Myopathy is usually a progressive disorder but sometimes it is self arrested. Do physiotherapy to prevent contractures & deformities. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Following may help inj dinabol 25 mg im weekly x 6wks. You will need other supportive medicines also. This disease does not affect the intelligence of the patient use your intelligence. You can work on computer etc. Keep your moral up.

Leg cramps 1. It could be due to peripheral neuropathy, muscle strain, dehydration, over exertion, 2. Compression of nerve as in lumbar stenosis, 3. Mineral deficiency (calcium, magnesium, potassium), 4. Medicine like diuretics as in hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease treatment 1. Take good nourishing diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables and, fruits 2. Drink plenty of water with electral/ors powder 3. Take multi vitamin supplement like one capsule of polybion daily 3. Massaging cramped muscle 4. Take pain killer like one tablet of crocin advance sos after food up to a maximum of three tablets per day 5. Hot fomentation by heating pad, warm water bath 6. Stretching exercise etc 7. Take adequate rest and avoid over exertion

1.You may be having anxiety or stress. Avoid stress. 2.You need 7-8 hours of sound sleep to remain healthy. 3.Go for regular exercise, Take part in games and sports, 4.Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise like pranayama to calm your mind, control your emotion, relieve anxiety and improve concentration. 5.Adhere to a specific sleep time and regular schedule 6.Take light dinner. 7.Avoid taking tea/coffee at bed time. Have a glass of milk at bed time 8. Don’t go to sleep immediately after dinner.Take a small walk after dinner and if possible take hot water bath before sleep. Read a light magazine or interesting book before going to bed . Avoid late night. 10.Don’t sleep in day time 11.Don’t take sleeping pill 12. If no relief consult doctor

drink plenty of water 3-4 litres / day. raise the head end of bed so that water does not collect under eyes. apply honey under eyes for 10 mins every day. take high protein diet,sprouts eggs.

Its just a soreness after workout so nothing to worry and please take rest between sets and do stretch before and after every set. Apply ice pack after your workout.

HI Lybrate USER…. 1) avoid oily, spicy, junk, fermented and stale foods…. 2) sleep upto 10-10.30 pm…. 3) avoid coffee and tea…. A) Eat 30-40 black currants and 1 tsf of jiggery during meals… B) Take 200 ml of fresh butter milk with pinch of saindhav lavan after meals… C) take 30 ml of aamla juice along with 15 ml of honey in morning on empty stomach D) take fresh juice of beet or pomegranate in morning instead of breakfast…do all these things for 15 days…gives you good result…THANKS.

Grieving for the loss of a loved an absolutely normal reaction, and at times necessary, for one to achieve closure. Give yourselves some time to cope with the loss. Try and distract yourself by doing things you enjoy doing. If it continues to be difficult, and you remain withdrawn, seek professional therapy, which can help to get over your loss more easily. Don't continue to suffer for too long, else you run the risk of spiraling into depression. Good luck.

1. Keep yourself hydrated. 2. Get extra rest for some days till you feel more energetic. 3. Avoid watching television for long hours. Indulge in relaxing activities. 4. Avoid stress and too much physical exertion. 5. Take a nutritious diet with more protein items in homemade food like soya, sprouts, dals, paneer, milk, seasonal fruits. 6. Do light physical activity, meditation and yoga. 7. Take one good multivitamin tablet after food for 7 days.

I have severe pain under my left foot below three little toes and the heel. I also have cervical spondylitis of neck. I am 38 years and weight is 85 kg.?

Weight and age are no problem if you have good strong muscles and a better lifestyle. Cervical spondylitis can give pain in leg but it has to be associated with pain in the hand on same side. Or else you may be having low spine issues also

Coir! its more flexible to body weight and back shapes compare to spring. There is never a foam exclusive. Also simple cotton filled gadda is also good. Standard sizes where your height is comfortably accomodated.

TIPS FOR PROPER SLEEP:: 1.Have a glass of whole milk (without the cream removed) with green cardamom powder before going to bed. 2.Have 1 teaspoon of licorice root powder with a glass of milk on an empty stomach in the morning. 3.Boil 3 grams of fresh mint leaves or 1.5 grams of dried powder of mint leaves in 1 cup of water for 15-20 minutes. Take lukewarm with 1 teaspoon of honey at bedtime. 4.Massage your feet with lukewarm mustard oil 2-3 times a day and before going to bed. 5. Take light meals at night and drink 10-15 glasses of water daily. 6.Stop using gadgets 1 hr before sleep.switch off lights at 11:00 pm. 7. Sleep in total dark room. 8.Add some fresh rose petals in a cup of boiling water. Keep it aside till it is lukewarm. Add ½ teaspoonful of sugar to it and have this twice a day. This is a good drink to uplift mood. 9.Do yoga daily 30 min n shavasana daily 5 min before sleep.... Do deep breathing for 2-3 min after every 1 hr....

Advice. Hot fomentation. Gentle shoulder stretching. Core strengthening exercises. Gentle neck exercises. Avoid sleeping on affected side. Use cervical pillow.

After 10 years of your original injury, now the only alternative is going for tendon transfer surgery. Out of the 3 tendons which bring foot down, one of them is transferred anteriorly. So that instead of pulling the foot down the same tendon will pull the foot upwards. The next operation is fusion of foot joints so that it cannot go down at all.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Ankle stretching. Ankle strengthening exercises. Avoid squatting. Quadriceps exercises. Core strenthening exercises.

The following suggestions are intended to help overcome temporary insomnia and maximize the chance of getting a healthy night's sleep: 1) make your bedroom an inviting place. Keep the room free of clutter and distractions. Be sure you have the right bed and mattress for your needs. The wrong mattress can lead to musculoskeletal problems and sleep disturbances. 2) use the bed only for sleeping. Avoid use of the bed for watching tv, eating, working, or any other activities. If you do wish to use the bed for a bit of nighttime reading, read only pleasure books in bed. Therapists often use" reconditioning" as part of a treatment plan for insomnia. With this method, people are" reconditioned" to associate the bed with sleep. If you find yourself unable to sleep at all, get out of bed and move to another room, so that you only associate the bed with sleep and not with wakefulness. 3) establish a regular sleep-wake cycle. Your body will learn to set its internal clock to your schedule and will eventually respond to internal cues to become sleepy at a given time and to awaken at a given time. A good way to begin this is by getting up at the same time every morning, even on weekends. 4) don't nap. No matter how tempting it may be, an afternoon nap can make falling asleep at night even harder" extra" sleep on weekends can also throw off your regular sleep schedule and worsen midweek insomnia. 5) limit your consumption of caffeine in the afternoon and evening. Remember that eating chocolates and drinking cocoa and colas also are sources of caffeine. Watch your alcohol intake. Don't drink any alcoholic beverages in the few hours prior to going to bed. Excessive amounts of alcohol at any time in the day can also disrupt sleep patterns and lead to unsatisfying sleep. 6) cigarette smoking can also worsen insomnia. 7) fit in some exercise during the day, but don't exercise strenuously right before bedtime. 8) eat light meals in the evening. Eating heavily in the evening or eating just prior to going to bed can disrupt your sleep. 9) establish a" winding down" ritual in the evenings just prior to bedtime. Try to free your mind of distracting or troublesome thoughts and engage in a relaxing, enjoyable activity like reading, listening to music, or watching a pleasant film. For people with chronic insomnia, a type of therapy called cognitive-behavioral therapy with homeopathic medicine may help reduce anxiety linked to insomnia, such as anxiety about sleep loss. Studies have shown that the effects of cognitive behavioral therapy with homeopathic medicine are more long lasting. For depression and inferiority complex you need some counselling sessions with homoeopathic medication, you will be alright after few weeks.

My wife is suffering from Plantar fasciitis She has gone through a lot of Physiotherapy but no improvement. Pain goes down as long as the physiotherapy effect is there. Now, Doctors have suggested Topaz Surgery. Just wanted to check how good is it? Any side effects? Will it come back again after the surgery. My wife is 50 years old. Hello lybrate-user, Thank you for contacting me. In physiotherapy for planter fascitis, ultrasound with stretching is done. Some modification in shoes and inserts can help. If this is not helping her you can go for surgery. Your answers regarding surgery can be given by surgeon. I hope this will help you.
