Hello lybrate-user. I understand that your mother is 52 years old and has got widespread pains (more in the hands) and has been diagnosed with arthritis and the routine painkillers are not helping. I need a few more answers before I am able to give a professional opinion on the matter: 1. How long has the problem been there and which all joints or areas hurt apart from her hands? 2. How was she diagnosed with arthritis and do you have any test reports to show (blood tests, xrays, old prescriptions) 3. Does she get any joint stiffness in the morning and if yes how long does it last? In the meantime I can only say that a couple of doses of painkillers will not harm her unless she already has a deranged kidney or liver function.
