Hello. Allergy in the eyes these days has become very common in our routine clinics, especially in summers. Allergy is a general term, but for eyes per se there are different types of allergic disorders like akc, vkc etc. The treatment will differ for every individual and a detailed assessment of each eye is crucial in deciding treatment plan. Generally a cocktail of drops is prescribed as each one addresses a different mechanism. Allergy in general cannot be cured, but can only be controlled. Certain relevant questions before starting treatment which an eye doctor will like to know- what is your age? Since how many years you are having this issue? What treatment you have taken in the past and for how long? Do you have allergic rhinitis too? What is your occupation? One generally needs to take medicines for a long time, few people grow out of the disease as adulthood is achieved. Also the long term treatment calls for side effect of certain drops which cause irreversible damage to the eyes. So in the meanwhile- avoid going outside as much as possible (esply dusty areas), wear side shielded goggles wash your eyes with cold water (splash) or apply ice packs and most importantly, please avoid self- medication or take over the counter drops from chemist shops. You can reach me out anytime for consultation and provide me with good quality photographs of both eyes to guide you with the treatment plan most appropriate for you. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Hello. Managing squint (non-surgically or surgically) includes a variety of graded treatment. Every case is different and has to be assessed by an eye doctor in great detail before suggesting surgery. Watering is due to the excess strain on the squinting eyes. It will go away if squinting is removed. Treatment depends on the type of squint he has, if it is present since birth or started 1-2 years later. Accordingly he will be advised glasses or drops or orthoptic exercises before proceeding for surgery. However if it is long standing and has already caused a significant vision loss (amblyopia), then surgery can be done right away. A picture of both eyes will be a lot helpful to guide you in a more personalised way. You can reach me out anytime for any further queries. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Most cases of pink eye are caused by a virus. Both viral and bacterial conjunctivitis can occur along with colds or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as a sore throat. Wearing contact lenses that aren't cleaned properly or aren't your own can cause bacterial conjunctivitis. Lifestyle and home remedies: apply a compress to your eyes. To make a compress, soak a clean, lint-free cloth in water and wring it out before applying it gently to your closed eyelids. Try eyedrops. Over-the-counter eyedrops called artificial tears may relieve symptoms and many more to follow. We can discuss it further over a call or video meeting to proceed for most appropriate treatment.
