Hi. Unfortunately there is no cure for rp as on now. All the medications or inventions are just aimed at improving the already diminished vision or improving the quality of life. For you per se genetic testing isnât much useful now that you already have the disease. But you should definitely get the genetic testing and counselling of your partner before marriage. Meanwhile, advise for you - 1. Vit a supplements 2. Visit an eye doctor if you experience further drop in your vision as there may be a condition called cmo wherein there is fluid condition in the retina (donât worry, easily treatable with drops if diagnosed at right time) 3. Low vision aids (in case you already have profound vision loss) hope this helps.

Hello. I am sorry to know about your problems. It is unfortunate to be a patient of retinitis pigmentosa (rp). But please do not be so anxious and affect your daily life worrying about it all the time. Because there is no definitive treatment for the same. It is okay if you can not afford treatment because they are also not effective. You can take diet rich in vitamin a like green leafy vegetables or capsule vit a (available in market). But it should not be taken without doctorâs prescription since itâs overdose can also be very harmful. Vitamin a therapy might slow down further progression but will not relieve you of the problems you already have. Besides, if you experience a sudden drop of vision, then you must visit an eye clinic (any government hospital near you) to rule out a retinal problem called as macular edema which is treated with eye drops alone and can be reversed if started early. Also ideally you should get a genetic testing of you and your partner done before marriage so that your child does not get the same disease. The least you can do is to not marry a person having similar problems. The last resort is lva (low vision aid) if you have profound vision loss. This will help you improve the quality of your daily life also. This will be available in very limited govt /ngo run setups only. Hope this helps. Reach me out anytime for further queries or any kind of help. Thank you.
