Hello. Floaters can be physiological (normal) or pathological (abnormal). Physiological floaters are due to tiny condensed vitreous and are not damaging to the eye at all other than giving a floating particle sensation, so can be ignored. Pathological floaters on the other hand can be dangerous as they maybe due to an impending retinal tear/ detachment. These floaters if not timely managed, can be vision threatening. If identified early, can be treated with laser and/or surgery. No type of medicine has proven results in making them disappear permanently. Kindly consult an eye doctor for further queries. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user, there are treatments in homoeopathy which can postpone the surgical process but a progressive cataract will have to be excised out by laser surgery at the end. You can instill cineraria maritima eye drops (schwabe in alcohol base) in affected eye. For more you are advised to go to ophthalmic surgeon for modus of operation and types of lenses.

Hello. By no amount of expertise or years of experience an ophthalmologist can predict if your myopia will increase above 5 dioptre. But yes since you are still in the growth phase of your life (23 years) chances are that it might. Pathological degenerations in retina are more severe in high myopia (more than -8 d), but more commonly found in moderate myopes as an incidental finding during routine eye check-ups. Timely treatment with laser therapy can prevent from developing any kind of retinal detachment. But itâs important that you get routinely checked up for that. Before suggesting you the frequency of your follow up, I would like to know if any of your parents had the same issue? Did they get operated for any eye surgery? Do you currently experience any symptoms of floaters or flashes? What is the increase in your eye power usually say in 6 months or 1 year duration? You can reach me out anytime for consultation. Will be more than happy to give a personalised guidance. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Hello. I can say that it is unfortunate to be at your place right now. But I can assure you that you must be getting the right treatment only at the esteemed hospital. Laser barrage is done only to seal the area of retinal tear which can possibly prevent its conversion to a full retinal detachment. Progression of the disease is due to the growth of the eyeball and its related changes. Even if retinal detachment occurs, surgery is attempted to re-attach it so that a normal useful vision can be restored (which might not be the initial vision you had). I am sorry to tell you this but there is no treatment (medical or surgical) to strengthen the retina per se. You can reach me out anytime for consultation. A photographic or telephonic information about all your previous documentation by the doctors can help me to guide you further about all the treatment options you might have. Will be happy to help. Thank you.

Hello. Feeling sorry to inform you that if retinal detachment occurs (even if you have had laser photocoagulation), then surgery is the only way to re attach it back. No kind of medicine can help you with this. If there is a sudden appearance of a fall of curtain like shadow or excessive sudden increase in floaters or flashes of light, then you must consult an ophthalmologist on an urgent basis and not wait for long if surgery is advised to you. The more time you spend in waiting to get operated, the less become the chances of regaining a decent useful vision even with surgery. You can consult me anytime with all the necessary details of your previous treatments if any further query is there. Will be more than happy to help. Thank you.

It is normal to have floaters at the age of 26 causes other than age include eye trauma, cataract surgery, nearsightedness and diabetic retinopathy. There is no magic eye drop or therapy to get rid of floaters, but over time, they usually become less bothersome. The retina can be examined for detachment by ophthalmoscope.
