Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Usually at your age hba1c% recommended is < 7%. However, if you are maintaining < 6% hba1c% means the control is excellent. If you have no problems or no troublesome issues of getting hypoglycemic episodes (glucose going < 70 mg), then there is no reason to reduce the drugs. Maintaining a lower glucose level and hba1c% is quite helpful in preventing any possible complications associated with diabetes. But if you have any time encountered hypoglycemia (low glucose) then reducing one of the medications can be looked at. Thanks.

Once you achieve a stable blood glucose level, you need to keep taking the medications. Discontinuing diabetes medications will increase blood glucose levels and damage kidneys and nerves at a faster pace. No amount of dietary restriction and/or exercise is sufficient to keep blood glucose level at a stable rate without medication.

Hello sir. First of all I suggest you to develop a basic habit of getting your blood sugar checked by the same machine at a lab or the same device at home with the same company strips. This will minimise any machine or technical error. As we can see that your fasting sugar has come out to be more than your post prandial (after meal), so you should get yourself thoroughly checked without further delay. Get a baseline fbs, ppbs, hba1c, urine routine and micro report done first. Depending upon the report oral tablets will be started afterwards. Also one very very very important thing I would like to share with you is that please get your complete eye checkup (specially retina) done every yearly. Diabetes is known to affect every organ of the body. It affects the eyes and kidneys first. If eye problem is detected early, it can be managed simply by strict sugar control or by laser treatment. If due care is not taken at an early stage, then it advances to a stage of irreversible vision loss requiring major surgery and even after the surgery the vision would not come back to what you have now. So be active to get diagnosed and treated early. You can follow up with me anytime with your reports and for any other diet or eye related advise. Hope this helps.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. With fasting glucose at 215 mg and HbA1c% 12.2 % you have totally uncontrolled diabetes. This in fact needs Insulin therapy for at least 3 to 4 months along with oral hypoglycemics. After bringing the glucose under control we can take of Insulin and continue of oral drugs. However, if you want to opt for alternate medical therapy then there is hardly any chance to control the condition. At this stage there is no reversal possible Even though you C-peptide value is good, insulin injections are needed to reduce glucotoxicity. So my advise is either take proper modern medical treatment or remain a severely diabetic person. Choice is yours. If you have any questions please do come back. You are too young to risk such an unreliable treatment. Choice is yours. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Following are my observations: 1) Looking at your weight and height, your ideal body weight should be about 55 to 56 kgs considering your age. Therefore with a Body Mass Index(BMI) of 26.89 kgs/Sq meter, you are already in over weight category. This is a major hindrance in blood glucose control. You will have to work towards reducing at least about 8 to 10 kgs. 2) In a well controlled diabetes patient FBG should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP should be 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% (not mentioned) should be <6.5%. 3) People with treatment for blood glucose reduction may feel uneasy if blood glucose goes low(<70 mg/100 ml). However, at 168 mg or even if it is 100 mg, no "Hypoglycemic" or low sugar related symptoms are felt. Those symptoms are feeling weak, sweating on the face, blurring of vision, clouding of thinking, dizzy feeling etc. But these happen only when blood glucose goes < 60 mg/ 100 ml. 3)Please check your HbA1c%, which gives a better idea about long term control of glucose. 4) There is a need to look at your diet, daily exercise routine as these two aspects play most important role in controlling the blood glucose. 5)Since there is no mention of your lipid levels (TGL, LDL & Cholesterol HDL etc), there is no way to comment why you have been asked to take Ailsip tablets. Similarly there is no mention of your blood pressure so no idea why Repace is prescribed. Tablet Dynaglipt-M also helps in glucose control. If you have any further questions please come back preferably in a private conversation (paid consultation) then I will be able to advise more specifically . Thanks.

During initial period of diagnosis, insulin helps to bring down the sugar rapidly and to reduce your problems fast. Later the insulin can be switched to oral tablets. Now the usage of tablets will be less if you can stick to your diet and exercise.
