In the majority of cases, gynecomastia goes on its own and it does not require any treatment. There are, however, surgery options available if the symptoms become severe. Surgery includes liposuction (breast fat is removed without removing the breast gland tissue), and mastectomy (breast gland tissue is removed by making small incisions. This involves less recovery time).

Generally, gynecomastia does not need any medical attention as it usually goes away on its own. The male breasts become normal again within a few months to a couple of years. If it becomes severe, your doctor will prescribe you medicines. There are also surgeries to reduce the size of the breast. Surgery options include: 1) liposuction- this helps in removing the extra fat from the breast but not the breast gland tissue. 2) mastectomy- the surgery is performed to remove the breast gland tissue. Small incisions are made to perform the surgery and it has a less recovery time as well.

Hi, Liposuction is to remove excess fat from a targeted area. This procedure is to reduce the fat inside the cells so the number of fat cells remain same but fat inside it reduces. A healthy lifestyle needs to be maintained even after this procedure to ensure that you do not bounce back the lost fat.

Results of liposuction surgery are apparently permanent but there is possibility of weight gain in the treated areas if complete care regarding your eating habits are not being taken. This also depends on how well you maintain your post-lipo weight.

Tumescent liposuction is the most commonly used and the most effective method for liposuction. A heavy amount of medicated solution is injected in the areas before the fat is removed. The process is more safe, and less painful and has a quick recovery time. The procedure is outpatient and does not require the use of general anesthesia.

Liposuction surgery is peformed to remove the subcutaneous fat layer that is found just under the skin in body parts that are resistant to diet and exercise. It might not reduce your weight but it removes fat that is not responsive in individuals. Liposuction is performed in body parts including doeuble chin, back of neck, bottom of upper arms, female breasts, outer thighs, bra strap area, belly pooch, male breasts, and muffin tops. Few less common areas include ankles, inner thigh and upper back.

Liposuction can be both major or minor. There are rare chances of some serious complications related to abdominal perforations, fluid imbalance and blood loss, drug toxicity, reactions to anesthesia, and pulmonary embolism. The severity of liposuction surgery also depends on the amount of body fat to be removed.

Liposuction is considered as a major surgery and there are few risks involved such as bleeding and reaction to anesthesia. Few possible complications include - 1) it may happen that your skin appears bumpy and wavy due to removal of excess fat and unusual sudden healing. 2) it is possible that seromas or temporary pockets of fluid may gather under the skin. It needs to be drained with the help of a needle. 3) temporary numb feeling in the affected area. 4) skin infection is one of the major risks and it could be life threatning in some cases. 5) fluid levels change after being injected and suctioned and can cause chronic kidney, heart and lung ailments.

There are things you should keep in mind after you are down with your liposuction surgery. Necessary precautions include - avoid alcohol for 48 hours after the surgery, take proper rest for a few hours. You may, however, engage in light to moderate physical activities one day after the surgery. Wear elastic compression garments in case of tumescent liposuction. It is advised to wear it on your thighs, hips, waist, flank, back or breasts. You may feel dizziness and fainting after the surgery so it is advised to have someone with you after the surgery.
