Hello. Managing squint (non-surgically or surgically) includes a variety of graded treatment. Every case is different and has to be assessed by an eye doctor in great detail before suggesting surgery. Watering is due to the excess strain on the squinting eyes. It will go away if squinting is removed. Treatment depends on the type of squint he has, if it is present since birth or started 1-2 years later. Accordingly he will be advised glasses or drops or orthoptic exercises before proceeding for surgery. However if it is long standing and has already caused a significant vision loss (amblyopia), then surgery can be done right away.
