Dear lybrate-user ji thanks for the query. First of all, the doctor should have explained to you your condition. Basically colour doppler is done to study the blood flow in the body. Mri means magnetic resonance imaging and it will only give a 2d/3d view of the structures inside the body. It will not be able to suggest the blood flow. A cat scan can give you 2d images and also can help to detect blockage if a dye / contrast is used. With regards to the cyst, you can send me the reports so that I may study it and explain it you in simpler language. Is it ok for you to consult with me over phone? Get arterial and venous doppler studies to rule out any obstruction in blood flow which is common in chronic smokers. Try physiotherapy for mild back pain.

Hello, l can understand the suffering. Venous ulcers are very painful. Please understand that the ulcer will not heal until and unless the “underlying varicose veins “ problem is tackled. She will require multiple layer compression dressings, medications and a detailed radiological investigations like Doppler scan or CT/MR Venogram to detect the actual reason for the non healing ulcer. The cause can range from due to a “simple reversal of blood flow in the legs to a blockage in the main veins which drain the blood in the abdomen resulting in stagnation of impure blood in the legs”. Please consult a Vascular Surgeon at the earliest so that a proper evaluation can be done and your mother can be treated of her ulcer. If the cause is not treated, the ulcer will not heal or will repeatedly occur. Best wishes, take care.
