I suffered from chicken pox 2 weeks ago (it was my second time, once in childhood) now my sister is also suffering from it (its her first time). Is this disease contagious & am I at a risk of getting infected again? Can it happen thrice?

Generally, this viral infection gives lifelong immunity to a person. This means that once infected, there are hardly any chances of recurrence. However, as you know, this disease is very highly contagious and spreads from one contact to another via droplets, scabs, fomites and direct contact. The only way it can reccur is if it gets reactivated in your body. The virus may have lied silent/dormant over many years. How can it get reactivated? If you are under any stressful condition, like physical or psychosocial stress, diseases including febrile illnesses, immunocompromised states (low immunity), on chronic steroids or any other immunosuppressants, post organ transplant, Diabetes, post surgery, HIV or any other chronic infection like TB, etc. I suggest take note of the above, and do not worry. Still, you should either isolate your sister, or yourself get under quarantine. Keep away from fallen pox scabs, vesicle droplets, and items of direct contact. Maintain superb diet and ensure that you have a heavy breakfast. Take honey+tulsi+ginger+lemon+greentea daily. Just take a few precautions, but do not worry my friend. Worry and Hurry will not solve your doubt, rather will add to your problem. Also, do not believe in any religious taboo.
