If cough is persistent for more than 15 days. He needs to be investigated by a competent PEDIATRICIAN. Please do not give any cough syrup. Instead you can give honey twice a day. It must be kept in mind that most cough are viral in nature thus self limiting and do not require any antibiotics or antitussive. However a child with cough persistent for more than 2 weeks with or without fever need to be examined.
