Dear DR, My wife (age: 24) is suffering by hearing loss of her left ear. I am from kolkata. I have visited lots of clinic here but all of them used to tell me that there have no chance for recovering. They told me nerve is totally damaged. So please tell me if there is any chance for me. Symptoms: 1. Hearing loss of left ear 2. Huge pain suddenly (lots of pills already taken) 3.Senseless due to pain.Please tell.

Hi Mr. Lybrate-user, as per the details provided I presume that your wife must be diagnosed to have sensory neural hearing loss. Regard the pain you need to rule out if there are any other ear conditions with a good ent but regard the hearing loss like you are already aware from other professionals that it cannot be reversed which is very true, if it really bothering your wife in terms of hearing you need to go for a hearing aid on the affected side.
