I am 70 years old. I have varicose veins on both my legs. My question is whether this problem can be cured with medicines or is surgery necessary? if so what will be the cost and how long it would take to recover?

Varicose veins can not be treated permanently by medicines rather there is no medicine available for treatment. Symptomatic relief and complications such as leg ulcers can be prevented by using leg stockings. Consult a nearby surgeon and ask him about surgical options specially sclerotherapy which is minimal invasive technique. He will also tell you about price and it is a day procedure no need for admission.
