Hi doctor, My son is about 1 year and 11 months old now. Still he is not saying any meaningful words. But he is saying some sounds like SA SA, is like this. At 10 months he called Papa. But now he is not even saying that. But he understands what we are saying, if anything he need chocolate or something he is just pulling my hands and keeping in that chocolate. This is the way he is communicating with us. Please help me what should I do for my baby to speak at least 5 meaningful words.

Please do nit worry. Do a few things: bring picture charts of fruits, flowers, daytoday needed items etc and paate them at some easy accessible place. Speak out the names to the child while playing around. Keep on motivating the child to speak the bames of the things you point out. Donot easily understand what child wants to convey by gestures. Ask him to try to speak. Make it possible that child stays and plays with a group of children. Usually child learns better in group of children. Try play schools or parks. Invite his friends at home. Just give some more time.

no need to panic at this stage. Many children, especially boys, tend to speak late. You may safely wait till the age of 2 1/2 years for him to speak bisyllables.
