Hypermetropia is better known as far sighted-ness. It means that a person having hypermetropia tends to have good vision for distance and poor vision for near. The causes are as follows: (1) axial growth of the eye. The eye tends to be short and thus cause hypermetropic refractive error. (2) age related. With progressive age, there occurs a hypermetropic shift. (3) surgical removal of the lens in the eye tends to render the eye highly hypermetropic. (4) children are seen to have hypermetropic refractive errors. To correct hypermetropia, following treatment options are available: (a) glasses/ spectacles. (b) contact lens. (c) refractive surgery. (d) lens surgery-removal of the lens and placement of an artificial intra-ocular lens. Let me know if further assistance required. Take care.
