People infected with hepatitis b may remain completely asymptomatic for decades. However, it can produce jaundice, features of liver failure like fluid in abdomen, bleeding, altered sensorium, even liver tumor. So, not waiting for symptoms, if a person is detected to have hbsag positive, one should undergo certain tests to decide need and nature of treatment.
