Hi, Yes it does have effect on fetus if not controlled. It causes fetal anomalie of different organs, like cardiac anomaly, renal anomaly, Macrosomic baby etc. Premature labour because of infections, PROM and sometimes intrauterine fetal death. During Labour Because of big baby it can cause shoulder dystocia means shoulder getting stuck behind pubic symphysis etc. Post delivery it may cause hypoglycaemia in babies as they are exposed to high insulin levels inside womb. But if it's CONTROLLED properly during pregnancy and safe confinement 2 weeks prior to Expected date it can help both mother and baby both.
