I was used to drunk a lot. Now I want to give it up. Is this possible? Without any serious diseases? Please advice.

It is good you have decided to stop your drinking. I am assuming that you have ?Hit Rock Bottom?, which is the worst state for you with the habit. If that is the case, you are absolutely ready and will do well with the recovery. If you feel you need to be admitted so that it is easier, then you have two options: to go to a hospital and do a detoxification for between 10 to 14 days; and to check in into a rehabilitation center and live there for 3 to six months. In the former they will remove all the chemicals and its toxins from your body which will decrease the physical craving for alcohol. In the latter, it is more comprehensive, where the physical craving and the psychological craving will both be addressed and the initial treatment from all aspects will be taken care of. After that you would still need to attend therapy and finish the course, which can be up to 3 complete years. You must also frequent the AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) meetings that have known to offer the best support system for alcoholics collectively, in the same predicament. There will also be some family therapy to prepare them to deal with their own issues and as well as how to support you. You will need to make a personal transformation and change some of your habits and friends associated with the habit. You will learn to handle your feelings, money, social life, personal life, family responsibilities, find non-alcoholic ways to find fun, learn normal ways to enjoy yourself and have a structured way for follow up. You will indeed learn a lot and come out successful. If you wish to do the same with an addiction counselor, then you need to be very determined and completely cooperative to make any progress. It is difficult but not impossible, and the daily routine has to be carefully planned and followed to make any success out of it.
