Why it is so painful in periods n having a very low flow. It also lasts for 7-8days.
Kindly take sukumara kshasyam, 20ml, in warm water twice a day, empty stomach. Take dashamoolarishta, 20 ml, in warm water, after meals, twice day. Pain during menstruation is due to hormonal imbalances. Take warm water to drink. Good luck. Stop the medication when periods start. Continue the regime for 2 months. Good luck.

M.Sc - Food & Nutrition, PG Diploma In Diabetes Education
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Gurgaon
Hi Gaurav, Over weight with weakness is a result of consuming high calories with low intake/ low absorption of Vitamins and minerals . To reverse both ( excess weight and weakness) , we need to consume low calorie food with good nutritional value of Vitamins and minerals. Take 750 mg Trikatu Churna , 1/2 an hour prior meals . Along this remedy, start following long term change in food and lifestyle patterns:- Start your day about 06: 00 AM with 10 minutes deep breath. Repeat it about 5 times /day. It will improve your body's Oxygen level and will keep you active throughout the day. Consume Meal / Fresh Home cooked snacks in every 2-3 hours.(Add, handful of soaked dry fruits- figs, Walnuts, Sunflower seeds or Pumpkin seeds in your meal plan or take them as MOrning / evening snacks) Add salad 15 minutes prior your Lunch and dinner (it will reduce calorie of meal and will add minerals & vitamins)

Postpartum Menstrual Pain - Common Causes Behind it!

Postpartum Menstrual Pain - Common Causes Behind it!

Having a child is one of the best things that can happen to a woman. While giving birth to a child is a very happy scenario, something called ‘postpartum menstrual pain’ can act as a damper. Postpartum menstrual pain occurs during the first period post-delivery. To understand it in a better way, here is a detailed overview that should help you out:

Period after childbirth
Periods usually return after 7-8 weeks of the delivery, provided there is no breast feeding. If you breast feed, then the timing of the period can vary. In some cases, a woman misses out on her periods for the entire duration of breast feeding; whereas in others, the period returns irrespective of whether she is breast feeding or not.

Once the periods start post-delivery, tampons are recommended against. Women who are breastfeeding don’t usually have their periods due to hormonal changes in the body. Hormones that induce periods are suppressed by the hormones which are responsible for the production of breast milk. The entire process of ovulation gets suppressed, thus leading to the absence of menstruation.

Difference in periods
Once your periods begin after the delivery, it will be different from the ones you have had before childbirth. As the body adjusts to the menstruation process post childbirth, one generally experiences the following symptoms:

  1. Stronger cramps
  2. Heavy menstrual flow
  3. Formation of small blood clots
  4. Pain during periods

Postpartum menstrual pain happens because of the following reasons:

  1. Pain in the vagina: The childbirth process may lead to swelling and stinging in the vagina. Painful periods will persist till the swelling subsides.
  2. Contractions of the uterus: Post childbirth uterus contractions are common as it comes back to its regular size; this may be a source of the pain.
  3. Breast feeding: Breast feeding can also trigger menstrual pain as it results in the release of ‘oxytocin’, which causes contractions in the uterus.

This problem of painful periods doesn't last longer. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Torsion Of Testes - Causes And Symptoms

MCH-Urology, M.S. (General Surgery) , MBBS
Urologist, Gurgaon
Torsion Of Testes - Causes And Symptoms

The testes are an important part of the human reproductive system and are susceptible to injuries as well as internal problems. One such problem which is known to afflict younger men mostly from the age of 12 to 16 is testicular torsion. It can affect older men, but is commonly seen in the aforementioned age group. It is a painful condition that will require medical attention and if left untreated might even result in removal of the organ in rare cases.

What is testicular torsion?
There are many intricate functions performed by multiple blood vessels within the scrotum that supply the testes with blood. However, one of the testicles might rotate and thus end up twisting the spermatic cord. This cord brings blood to the testicles and if twisted, will reduce the flow of blood significantly. Thus the scrotum may swell up and also become quite painful.

Symptoms of testicular torsion
1. Significant swelling of the scrotum
2. Mild to extreme pain in the scrotum.
3. Abdominal pain, especially in the lower abdomen
4. Unusually positioned testicle such as one significantly higher, behind, or in front of the other one.
5. Fever
6. Feeling nauseated and may be accompanied by vomiting
7. Pain during urination
8. Inability to sleep or waking up in the middle of the night due to the constant pain

What causes testicular torsion?
In certain cases, testicular torsion may occur and then go away on its own when the testicle rotates, resulting in the untwisting of the spermatic cord (which is also known as de-torsion). However, it is still advisable to visit a doctor and ascertain what caused it so that the risk factor could be eliminated as torsion and de-torsion could keep happening frequently. Some of the common causes for testicular torsion are mentioned below.

  1. Hereditary factors: If someone in your family has suffered from this condition, you could be susceptible to it.
  2. Injuries: If you receive minor trauma such as the one during playing any kind of contact sports, outdoor activities or even while doing house work, it can be a reason of this condition as well.
  3. Activities that put stress on the scrotum: Heavy exercising or running in an unbalanced or improper manner can cause torsion as well.
  4. Improper sleeping positions: This can also cause torsion and is a common cause behind frequent torsion and de-torsion.
  5. Other factors: These factors can include excessively cold temperatures wherein the scrotum contracts rapidly and prolonged contraction can cause torsion. Even the rapid growth of the scrotum during the adolescent years after puberty may cause this. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Mr. Lybrate-user, I think your father is having problem with lower gi tract. Painless bleeding is little urgent to be attended. He must have some bleeding points inside. Consult a general surgeon and go for a colonoscopy. Ecospine may be one of the cause.

Hi One of the simplest and most effective ways to induce sleep is to rub some oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed. Use sesame oil, brahmi oil, jasmine oil, or coconut oil and massage gently for a few minutes. Slightly warming the oil before applying is helpful. 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep. Take sarpgandha vati 1-1 tab twice a day. Take pranacharya no tens capsule 1-1 twice a day. Avoid spicy food. Junk food. Fermented food. Tea.coffee. Do pranayama early in the morning.

Hello sir. My brother have typhoid fever. In early stage so what should do for prevent and control typhoid fever. He do not what eat food. please share some precaution for typhoid.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Drink plenty of fluids as this helps to prevent dehydration which occurs due to high fever and diarrhea. Individuals, who suffer from severe dehydration, may have to receive fluids intravenously. It is also important to follow a healthy diet. Nutritional deficiencies can easily develop due to the illness and hence you need to consume high-calorie, nutritious meals. Home remedies for typhoid include honey and water. Add some honey to warm water and drink this, as this soothes the digestive tract. Honey also supplies energy to the body.
