Munching foods like apples, pears, carrots or celery after brushing can help in preventing discoloration as they trigger tooth-bathing saliva which helps in keeping the teeth whiter.

I am 35 years old. My teeth's height. I want to to decrease the height and in proper shape by advanced technology without braces. Please guide me.

Advanced option is invisalign. Your invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move? little by little, week by week? until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by our orthodontists. Invisalign is an ideal way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life. If you? re ready for a smile that transforms your appearance discreetly, invisalign might be your answer. Advanced orthodontics is a certified platinum provider of invisalign which means you are assured of being treated by the most highly experienced orthodontists who have achieved high quality results using invisalign. You can also feel safe that by seeing an orthodontist, rather than simply a dentist, our qualifications and experience ensure we deliver the quality result you deserve.

My teeth (upper and lower incisors and molars) are getting blackened. Actually black! Which does not come off even after brushing. No history of tobacco consumption, smoking, tea or coffee. I've got scaling about 5 times. After each scaling it gets cleared only to recurrently come back. The last session was about 4 years ago. The toothpaste I use is either Colgate or pepsodent. I brush twice a day. Other than the above mentioned teeth, rest all are so amazingly white!

24 years old, My problem is a big gap or space in my upper side two main teeth. How to do closer & which type of process or treatment?

Hello lybrate-user, The Condition you going through is known as Mid-line diastema. When a thickened labial frenum – the tissue band that connects the lips to the upper gum – is the cause of diastema, we often must work in cooperation with an oral surgeon to permanently close the gap. An oral surgeon can perform a frenectomy, which is a procedure to remove a portion of the thickened tissue. This procedure is required because otherwise, the tissue will continue to prevent us from bringing the two front teeth together with orthodontic treatment. Even when methods such as this are used to correct diastema, retention after treatment is paramount to prevent the teeth from gradually drifting apart once more. There was a time when orthodontists recommended wearing retainers for a year or two after completing orthodontic treatment. But these days, we recommend wearing your retainers a few times per week for life to ensure your teeth remain in proper alignment. This is particularly true for lifetime correction of diastema cases.

I am 21 year old male, I had mouth ulcer for past few days. What should i do to cure?

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Hyderabad
Hello lybrate-user, ulcers last for a period of 14 days, from the start to the complete healing. Even if you do not apply anything, the ulcer heals. Avoid eating extremely hot and spicy food. If the ulcer is small, you can apply certain gel over the ulcerated area after consulting the dentist. If the ulcer appears to increase in size rapidly, you should see the dentist immediately.

Chewing gum is usually not harmful. Use sugar free chewing gum to avoid cavities and drinks sips of water so that mouth doesn't go dry.

Retainer is a must for 6 months after braces treatment. Retainers help stabilise teeth in their positions. Improper usage leads to relapse of treatment. Go ahead n use retainers.

I have problem with my tooth, whenever I have cold water my tooth starts paining simultaneously.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Dear lybrate-user, your teeth have become sensitive to cold food-stuff and water. Sensitivity may occur due to a variety of causes, the most common being: 1. Brushing your teeth too hard 2. Gum diseases 3. Dental cavity if you are applying too much pressure while brushing, it is likely to lead to a condition called as attrition, wherein the the outermost tough layer of the teeth (enamel) begins to wear, exposing the underlying structures that are more sensitive to cold stuff. If that is the case, you need to use a soft brush and put minimal pressure on your teeth while brushing. Also, you must switch to an anti-sensitivity toothpaste which will help reduce your problem to a considerable extent. In case you have an inadequately maintained oral hygiene, is likely that you may have developed a gum problem, which is manifesting as sensitivity. For that, you would be required to get a thorough professional cleaning/scaling done from a dentist. It will solve your problem. Besides the above, dental cavities also cause abnormal sensations to cold water. You will have to get it checked from a dentist, and if such a cavity is present, it may require a filling. Hope that helps.

Hi doctor, I hv extracted 3molar teeth more than a year back and I couldn't extract the 4th one/dur to stress in college.(i was said that all 4molar shld be removed since it has no space to grow and its starts decaying). So nw my question is will this un extracted tooth make other teeth weak? N my mouth got bad smell due to that tooth, is der any other problems if I dnt remove the tooth? Thank you.

Hello. Yes these 3rd molors should get extracted because they will strat hurting there near one and harm those. Bad smell is due to food lodgement and pocket formation irt erupting tooth. So you should get these tooth extracted.
