To gain weight you should eat more calories than you burn. Plus not only you have to eat calorie dense food but you have to keep in mind that what you are eating is healthy too. In the process of weight gain you do not want to put weight in an uneven manner and look unhealthy rather than looking bright and healthy. 1. Start with changing your lifestly. Start working out if you are not active. The biggest myth that prevails now a days is that thin people do not need to work out. This is wrong. When you challenge your body, it is forced to grow. But this growth can only be possible if you are eating enough food to let the body absorb and grow in size and muscles. 2. Eat Healthy – Stop drinking and smoking too much if you are indulged in it. Limit your intake of junk food, pepsi, sugary stuff etc. Do not at all starve yourself. Make it a habit to eat something healthy every 3 hours. This means you have to eat 6 small meals in a day. Your Daily food intake should ideally consist of – a. Have plenty of nuts, dry fuits and seeds. Almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, figs, dates and raisins. They are full of healthy fats needed by a human body. b. Good amount of fruits and vegetables – Bananas, apples, pomegranate, green leafy vegetables. Fruits and vegetables helps in absorption of food in the body and together, completes your daily nutrition need. c. If you are a non- vegetarian - Eat eggs, chicken etc. d. Eat whole grains – Try to have multi grains spread throughout the day. Wheat, brown rice, oats, bajra, daliya etc should be taken in multiple meals in a day. e. Eat Sprouts – Chana and moong which are full of protein and nutrients. f. You can supplement your diet with good quality multi-vitamin capsules. If you are lacking in protein, you can buy a high quality whey protein and have it with banana shake twice a day. g. You can take natural food items like wheat grass which is full of essential nutrients which helps in weight gain. Try to be patient while you are on the process of weight gain. Results take time to show. Just follow the regimen of weight gain religiously and you will soon start seeing the results.

Hi, lybrate-user I can understand that weight gain is a big problem now a day. The main reason behind weight gain is eating more of the processed food, less of exercise and drinking less water. You observe the habit of yours, you will find that these three reasons. Hence to lose weight cutting on processed food, sugary food, drinking 3-4 liter of water daily and exercise for min of 30 min per day is essential. Balanced food is the key to long term weight loss. I can suggest a diet plan and some dietary supplement for quick weight loss. I am suggesting a general diet and supplement for you. Sample Diet PlanBreakfast – green Juice.Lunch – vegetable pulao with pineapple fruits. Dinner – paneer with green salad. Snacks – 25g almonds with green tea. Follow these best methods to easily gain weight and get a healthy body - * to gain weight, first take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calories food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow the diet chart in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of bournvita or complan powder with breakfast. * after 2 hours of breakfast, take 2 bananas or a bowl of boiled soyabeans. To increase your hunger & proper digestion of food - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after lunch * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. You can take 2 bowl of careals (moong/chana daal) on the place of curd or cheese. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 10-12 pieces of dry fruits or 3-4 pieces of dates (khajoor). * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. Exercise is very important so that muscles gain mass from the heathy diet. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid smoking & alcohol drinkg completely. I assure you that you definitely gain weight fastly by following them. Be healthy

if your are exhausted and want to nourish with best results then take it at bed time, your digestion need to be good for this. IF your digestion is not that good than better to take it in morning hrs. 1 hr after meals. You can add pinch of daalchini, dried ginger powder, Small cardamom to it . Good luck

Dear lybrate-user, seems you have very lean mass - severe deficiency of protein. You will have to take 1.25 gm of protein per kg of your ideal body weight. I can give you a general remedy however you must consult me separately. Do you have other concerns with weight gain like tiredness, back pain, headache or as simple as hair fall? to gain weight in healthy way, consume balanced diet with more protein rich foods to build muscles. Since your weight is less, the amount of protein you have to take is 1 to 1.25 gm protein / kg of ideal weight. You have to take supplements my dear, you can not get all the nutrients from food now. Soil has become very poor and missing in many nutrients. You can include sprouts, full cream milk & milk products, cheese, paneer frequently, peanut butter etc in your diet. For customised diet plan many things should be considered including dealing with the deficiencies with food supplements - as diet is missing so many important nutrients. Thanks for the query. Firstly it is important to understand that weight /fat loss involves sensible eating. You have to eat the right foods at the right time. Eat small but frequent meals.     Reduce main meals by a small amount. Take a glass warm water before meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. You cannot work on a specific body part. You have to work on overall fat loss and toning. Drink a glass of lime water in the mornings to flush out your system & avoid bloating. Include exercises that tone your back and abdominal muscles too. Add to your exercise crunches, pushup, leg flies, planks exercise. All the so called fad diets and just doing singular ab exercises or ab machines will not give you targeted results. The fats will remain as it is. It's all about overall work out and balanced diet. Lastly be committed.                        Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing.     It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips.

Father complain of fatigue on walking and exertion. Hemoglobin of father is 6.6 Peripheral smear is microcytic hypochromic picture Serum ferritin and serum iron is low with increased TIBC levels. Vitamin b12 is normal Vitamin d3 level is low around 6 He is known case of hypertension with diabetes. Please suggest treatment.

Hello, Lybrate user, in spite of your father's report his complication is not less important to be taken into account for homoeopathic treatment. Fatiguness is the general outcome of diabeties & hypertension. He should first go for morning walk. Go for meditation to reduce stress in both the cases. He should follow all the anti diabetic norms instructed by his diabetologist. Before advising homoeopathic medication blood sugar levels and BP level be established tk care.

There are lots of healthy foods in Veg foods also. Non Veg is not necessary for being healthy and strong. Eat protein rich foods like Mushrooms - Rajma - Kabuli Chana- Milk - Paneer - Soya chunks etc. Also you can take more dry fruits like Almonds, cashews, peanuts etc. Exercise daily for 30 mins. Take 2-3 fruits daily. Take a spoon of Chavanprash everyday. All these steps will improve your health.

You can follow the following tips 1. Eat 2 fruits every day. Keep a fruit when travelling to satisfy those sugar cravings. 2. Add nuts to your diet like almonds, walnuts. They are a good sources of vitamins and minerals. 3. Increase your vegetable intake. Consume minimum 3 servings of seasonal vegetables. They are cheaper and more nutritious. 4. Eat small portions at regular intervals. It will keep hunger pangs at bay. 5. Eat whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat bread, Oats and whole grain cereals. Avoid maida and other refined cereals. 6. Have two servings of low-fat dairy products every day: milk, curd, buttermilk 7. Use cold pressed vegetable oils like mustard oil, olive oil, sunflower oil. 8. Limit saturated fat. Read the labels. And remember that fatty meats or cheeses, butter, and whole milk products have large amounts of saturated fat. 9. Have protein rich foods like eggs, lean meat like chicken and fish ; soya, tofu and quinoa. These sources have high biological value protein. 10. Target 10-12 glasses of water everyday. The best way to judge the water intake is by the colour of the urine. The more yellow it is that means you are dehydrated. Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Dear Lybrate User, *Drinking a cup of hot water with 1 tsp of honey and 10 drops of apple cider vinegar is a wonderful way to start the day. Honey and apple cider vinegar have scraping effects and can help with reducing excess adipose tissue. *Eliminating alcohol, caffeine and smoking. There is abundant information on how many negative effects these substances induce in the body. They can alter the digestive fire and create cravings for unhealthy foods. *Reducing dairy and meats from the diet. These foods are heavy, gross and can lead to slow, sluggish digestion which will increase the same qualities in the body. Hello,Medication will not help at this age, you should try Exercise like stretching swimming regularly yoga like Tadasan and Sarvang asana. play Basket ball regularly. Take proper balanced nutritios and protein rich diet. *Mix two tablespoons of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm cow’s milk. 1. Add sugar or jaggery according to your taste and mix well. 2. Drink it every night before going to bed at least for 45 days to increase your height. I suggest you to follow these exercises on regular basis in order to get result. **Take alfalfa tonic , 2 tsp twice daily before meals to gain weight.

Diabetes:
Have grape fruit juice three times a day or a tablespoon of amla juice mixed with a cup of karela juice or eat 10 fresh curry leaves. Don't eat too much of carrots, peas, beans, sweet potato, beet root, bananas, dry fruits, or mango raisins.
Insomnia:
Deat plenty of curd or drink a glass of water with 2 teaspoons of honey.
Jaundice:
Mesh a ripe banana, along with one tablespoon of honey, and eat it twice a day, oor take 1/2 teaspoon of ginger juice with one teaspoon of fresh lime and mint. The juice of bel fruit is also good for the lever.
Joint pains:
Squeeze half a lemon in one glass of hot water and drink it 8 to 10 times a day. Having lemon juice gives your body vitamin c, whichthat is valuable. Massage your joints with neem oil.
Blood pressure:
Swallow 2 flakes of garlic daily. High blood pressure can be cured by daily intake of 1/4 teaspoon of pepper powder mixed with 1/4 cup of curd on an empty stomach.
High cholesterol and heart diseases:
Grind dried amlas to a fine powder. Mix an equal weight of sugar candy (mishri) and store in a glass bottle. Have one teaspoon every morning with a glass of water on an empty stomach.

Two cup of green tea is advisable. It does not cause problem. If heart beat increases after taking green tea,you can atop taking green tea. Do an ECG to exclude heart disease
