Hi, If you’re aiming to gain some strength and build muscle, you must follow the points mentioned below: 1.Start exercising. If you’re a beginner, focus on bodyweight exercises like push up, pull up and squat. The basic push up and chin up are invaluable exercises you can do with very little equipment. Increase their difficulty by adding reps or affixing weights to your legs. 2.Consume a balanced diet. It's important to eat big meals to fuel muscle growth while you're training. You’ll need to eat healthy, whole foods that will nourish and restore your muscles. Consume all types of fruits, vegetables, grains, oils and dairy products. 3.Take adequate rest. Many people take this step lightly, but it's absolutely essential when it comes to gain strength. That means you won't be able to work out as hard or lift as much as you otherwise would, not to mention you'll be more prone to injury if you're feeling sleepy. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night, possibly more depending on your individual needs, during heavy workout periods. 4.Increase protein intake. Protein proves to be the most essential nutrient when it comes down to gaining strength or building muscle. Therefore, consume all types of protein from both veg and non veg food items. Chicken breast, egg whites, fish, pulses provide you all the protein you need without containing any unnecessary fat. 5.Focus on compound movements. Compound movements are those which engages more than one muscle group. Exercises like bench press, squat, dead lift are great examples of compound exercises to gain strength quickly. 6.Lift heavy. If your main aim is to gain strength, you’ll need to lift heavy weights in the gym and thus, lower the repetitions of your sets. Moderate-rep sets are important when training for muscle size. However, to build strength, you're going to have to train with heavier weights, meaning you'll do fewer reps. 7.Limit cardio to once or twice per week. Cardio exercises like running, swimming, and biking are great ways to keep your endurance good and your circulation healthy. However, they aren't the best exercises you can do if your goal is to gain strength. Weight training requires loads of energy, and if yours has already been used up by a long run or bike ride, you won't have enough left over to give weight training your best shot. Limit cardio to once or twice per week so your energy reserves are ready to expend on building strength.

Health Tip:
The Magic Combination of Honey and Cinnamon.

For centuries, the delicious combination of honey and cinnamon is considered to be truly healing and beneficial. In fact, ancient people believed that it is an elixir of health and youth. It is scientifically proven that it has regenerative effects on the whole organism, in same time enhancing the body resistance to various diseases.
Honey , which is not in vain called “food of the gods”, together with cinnamon, which is one of the most exotic spices in the world, are certainly very useful when combined with other ingredients as well, but they have strongest healing properties when are used together. Here are part of the ways how you can use honey and cinnamon as well as different diseases which can easily be cured with this fantastic combination.

Retaining and helping the body to stay vital

Everyone wants to find the magic potion that will maintain them young, but few of us have guessed that it really exists. Tea from honey and cinnamon has strong regenerative properties that keep the body vital. For this potion, you need 4 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon cinnamon and 3 cups of water and they have to be boiled together. It is best first to boil the water and the cinnamon, and when the liquid cools, add honey so it won’t lose its nutritional properties. This liquid should be drunk during the day and certainly needs regular drinking to feel the results.

Strengthens the immunity

Already it is known that honey protects us from bacteria and viruses, but with cinnamon, the effect is even stronger. It has been proved that there is a significant content of vitamins and iron in the honey, so constant use helps in creating white blood cells and also helps in fighting against viruses and bacteria.

Regulating problems with digestion

If you face such problems, it is necessary to take two tablespoons of honey with cinnamon before a meal. In this way it helps the body to digest even the heaviest meals.

Heart problems

You need to mix honey and cinnamon in equal parts, and the final result should be in a form of paste. This mixture can be used instead of a marmalade, which contains too much sugar that is not good for your health, and it should be consumed regularly. In this way you reduce the cholesterol and the body is more protected from a heart – attack and various other heart diseases.

Reducing Cholesterol

This recipe is well known and it helps in fighting the bad cholesterol. You need 4 deciliters tea in which, after cooling, you’ll put 3 teaspoons of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of honey and mix them well. In this way prepared liquid consume it three times a day. The results are amazing.

Gastric and bone cancer
For people who are struggling with stomach cancer and bone cancer, there is a combination that helps to win the battle with this disease easily. It is necessary to take 1 tablespoon honey, 1 small spoon cinnamon three times a day for a month.

Inflammation of the joints (arthritis)

For this inflammation there are two ways that honey and cinnamon can be used. First, for the direct treatment of painful spots you should mix 1 tablespoon honey with 2 tablespoons warm water, to which is added 1 small spoon cinnamon. It makes a paste that is applied on the infected areas. As a potion against arthritis, use a combination of 1 cup of hot water with 2 tablespoons of honey and a little bit cinnamon. Drink twice a day, in the morning and in the evening before bedtime. Be persistent, because it is more than once proven that this potion really helps patients suffering from arthritis.

Against hair loss

Did you have a long struggle with hair loss, but none of the shampoos or treatments helped? Maybe you should try natural ways to help yourself. In hot olive oil add 1 tablespoon honey and a small spoon cinnamon. The amount of oil varies so that the end result should be a thick paste. Apply this paste on the hair roots with massage and leave to act for15 minutes. Use it regularly and be astonished by your strong and healthy hair.

Acne and pimples

Mix 3 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, to obtain a paste that is applied on the acnes and the pimples every night before going to bed. The results are visible after only two weeks regular use.

Reducing weight

It is known widely that this magical combination helps in reducing your weight, thereby not allowing fat to be deposited on your body in the same time cleaning it out of toxins. It is necessary to boil 1 cup of water with half teaspoon of cinnamon. When the liquid is cool enough, after approximately half an hour, add 1 tablespoon honey. Drink half of the liquid before going to bed, and the rest in the morning, half an hour before breakfast.

My belly is very big in last 2 year I not walking 2 km why this Please give me solutions and medicine ane yoga etc?
Hi lybrate-user if your belly is lowering your self-confidence and giving you sleepless nights, here are the tips to give you flatter and fitter tummy. 1. Add fiber to your diet constipation distends your belly, add veggies and fruits to your daily diet to relieve you of constipation, reduce intakes of refined cereals like maida, noodles, pasta and whole grains instead add dalia and oats. This would relieve you of constipation and bloat to give you a flat tummy. 2. Decrease sodium intake sodium retains water in the body and hence your belly swells up, reduce intake of junk food as it contains a lot of sodium. Stop adding extra salt to dishes, also packaged and processed food contains a lot of salts so better avoid it. 3. Increase potassium foods rich in potassium help you get rid of balancing sodium, fruits are very good source of potassium, adding them to their daily diet not only provides this nutrient but also increase the fiber content of your daily intake 4. Avoid sugar alcohols we do not completely digest these low-calorie sweeteners usually found in flavoured low-calorie drinks, diabetic and sugar-free foods. Bacteria in a large intestine ferment during gas and distension so check food labels and avoid sorbitol, xylitol and lacitol. 5. Increase liquids drinking plenty of liquids helps flush out toxins from the body. Keep yourself hydrated with at least 8 glasses of water, also include lassi, coconut, water, lemon water in your daily routine. Make sure to include homemade soups only, as packaged soups are not that nutritious and contain added sodium in them. 6. Carbonated beverages and alcohol these give you extended bellies and your dream of flat tummy falls flat. Alcohol gives you empty calories with zero nutrition. 7. Probiotic curds include low fat curd in your diet regime as it contains live bacteria which tame bloating by increasing intestinal motility. 8. Method of cooking no doubt salads and sprouts are good for our health but if experience distension with them then saute, blanch or steam them also fried foods are best to be avoided not only because of their high-calorie content but also because frying leads to changes in oil composition which may result in bloating. 9. Avoid chewing gums and candies while chewing them air enters our digestive system, giving us feeling of bloating, also candies are zero in nutrition but contain loads of calories. Also, eat slowly as gulping down increases air passage to the digestive system 10. Individual tolerances some individuals are more intolerant to certain foods like radish, capsicum, tea, cauliflower etc, so with your own personal experience omit them from your diet.

hi, I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through a dietary therapy. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Eight tips for healthy eating

These eight practical tips cover the basics of healthy eating, and can help you make healthier choices.
Base your meals on starchy carbohydrates
Eat lots of fruit and veg
Eat more fish - including a portion of oily fish
Cut down on saturated fat and sugar
Eat less salt - no more than 6g a day for adults
Get active and be a healthy weight
Don't get thirsty
Don't skip breakfast

The key to a healthy diet is to:
Eat the right amount of calories for how active you are, so that you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use. If you eat or drink too much, you'll put on weight. If you eat and drink too little, you'll lose weight. It is recommended that men have around 2, 500 calories a day (10, 500 kilojoules). Women should have around 2, 000 calories a day (8, 400 kilojoules). Most adults are eating more calories than they need, and should eat fewer calories.

Eat a wide range of foods to ensure that you're getting a balanced diet and that your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.

Base your meals on starchy carbohydrates
Food that is starchy carbohydrates should make up just over one third of the food you eat. Starchy carbohydrates include potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and cereals. Choose wholegrain varieties (or eat potatoes with their skins on) when you can: they contain more fibre, and can help you feel full for longer.
Most of us should eat more starchy foods: try to include at least one starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram the carbohydrate they contain provides fewer than half the calories of fat.

Keep an eye on the fats you add when you're cooking or serving these types of foods because that's what increases the calorie content, for example oil on chips, butter on bread and creamy sauces on pasta.

Eat lots of fruit and veg
It's recommended that we eat at least five portions of a variety of fruit and veg every day. It's easier than it sounds. A 150ml glass of unsweetened 100% fruit juice or smoothie can count as one portion, and vegetables cooked into dishes also count. Why not chop a banana over your breakfast cereal, or swap your usual mid-morning snack for a piece of fresh fruit?

Eat more fish - including a portion of oily fish
Fish is a good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals. Aim to eat at least two portions of fish a week, including at least one portion of oily fish. Oily fish contains omega-3 fats, which may help to prevent heart disease. You can choose from fresh, frozen and canned: but remember that canned and smoked fish can be high in salt.
Oily fish include salmon, mackerel, trout, herring, fresh tuna, sardines and pilchards. Non-oily fish include haddock, plaice, coley, cod, canned tuna, skate and hake. If you regularly eat a lot of fish, try to choose as wide a variety as possible.

Cut down on saturated fat and sugar
Saturated fat in our diet
We all need some fat in our diet, but it's important to pay attention to the amount and type of fat we're eating. There are two main types of fat: saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk of developing heart disease.
The average man should have no more than 30g saturated fat a day. The average woman should have no more than 20g saturated fat a day, and children should have less than adults.
Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as hard cheese, cakes, biscuits, sausages, cream, butter, lard and pies. Try to cut down on your saturated fat intake, and choose foods that contain unsaturated fats instead, such as vegetable oils, oily fish and avocados.

For a healthier choice, use just a small amount of vegetable oil or reduced-fat spread instead of butter, lard or ghee. When you're having meat, choose lean cuts and cut off any visible fat.
Sugar in our diet
Regularly consuming foods and drinks high in sugar increases your risk of obesity and tooth decay. Sugary foods and drinks, including alcoholic drinks, are often high in energy (measured in kilojoules or calories), and if eaten too often, can contribute to weight gain. They can also cause tooth decay, especially if eaten between meals.

Many packaged foods and drinks contain surprisingly high amounts of free sugars. Free sugars are any sugars added to foods or drinks, or found naturally in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juices.

Cut down on sugary fizzy drinks, alcoholic drinks, sugary breakfast cereals, cakes, biscuits and pastries, which contain added sugars: this is the kind of sugar we should be cutting down on, rather than sugars that are found in things such as fruit and milk.

Get tips on cutting down sugar in your diet.
Food labels can help: use them to check how much sugar foods contain. More than 22.5g of total sugars per 100g means that the food is high in sugar, while 5g of total sugars or less per 100g means that the food is low in sugar.

Eat less salt no more than 6g a day for adults
Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke. Even if you don't add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much. About three-quarters of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces.

Use food labels to help you cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt. Adults and children over 11 should eat no more than 6g of salt (about a teaspoonful) a day. Younger children should have even less.

Get active and be a healthy weight
Eating a healthy, balanced diet plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy weight, which is an important part of overall good health. Being overweight or obese can lead to health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease and stroke. Being underweight could also affect your health. Check whether you're a healthy weight by using our healthy weight calculator.

Most adults need to lose weight, and need to eat fewer calories to do this. If you're trying to lose weight, aim to eat less and be more active. Eating a healthy, balanced diet will help: aim to cut down on foods that are high in saturated fat and sugar, and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.

Don't forget that alcohol is also high in calories, so cutting down can help you to control your weight.

Physical activity can help you to maintain weight loss or be a healthy weight. Being active doesn't have to mean hours at the gym: you can find ways to fit more activity into your daily life. For example, try getting off the bus one stop early on the way home from work, and walking. Being physically active may help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. For more ideas, see get active your way.
After getting active, remember not to reward yourself with a treat that is high in energy. If you feel hungry after activity, choose foods or drinks that are lower in calories, but still filling.
If you're underweight, see our page on underweight adults. If you're worried about your weight, ask your gp or a dietitian for advice.

Don't get thirsty
We need to drink plenty of fluids to stop us getting dehydrated the government recommends 6-8 glasses every day. This is in addition to the fluid we get from the food we eat. All non-alcoholic drinks count, but water and lower-fat milk are healthier choices.

Try to avoid sugary soft and fizzy drinks that are high in added sugars and calories, and are also bad for teeth. Even unsweetened fruit juice and smoothies are high in free sugar, so limit how much you drink to no more than one 150ml glass of fruit juice each day.
When the weather is warm, or when we get active, we may need more fluids.

Don't skip breakfast
Some people skip breakfast because they think it will help them lose weight. In fact, research shows that eating breakfast can help people control their weight. A healthy breakfast is an important part of a balanced diet, and provides some of the vitamins and minerals we need for good health. A wholegrain, lower-sugar cereal with fruit sliced over the top is a tasty and nutritious breakfast.

Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take of your total as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. For more detailed and personal advice ask me privately.

You are having repeated unwanted thoughts about things like holding a pen in a particular position etc. Look out for similar unadjustable habits which you are compelled to do or think, repeatedly and uselessly. This is classical OCD obsessive compulsive disorder, and upset or lowmood or depressive thoughts are secondary to inability to control the original repetitive thoughts/actions (like pen holding, repeated washing, checking behaviour ettc). Kindly consult a psychiatrist privately as you also need appropriate drugs and psychotherapy for subconscious distressing conflicts like your personal insufficiencies/ guilt/lost loved ones/unattainable "but can't be given up" ambitions/desires (childish or even sexual). Low self esteem and self-blaming and self-punishing attitudes if any also need to be counselled with appropriate behavior modification.
