Dear Friend, Bleeding is the primary signal of inflamed gums. Gum problems are usually painless and so is unnoticeable by clients. Surgical procedure is decided by dentist based on your clinical conditions and the Xray (ex: Bone loss). As suggested the early the procedure done if required the best the results are and the life of your teeth and overall health. (Gums disease is inversely proportional to Tooth life, More the delay less the tooth life). The procedure is done in local anesthesia and you will be at comfortable zone. Hope this is helpful and boost you confidence.

Gum related Question: Blood found gums after mouth is dry for 3-4 hrs or when you are gargle at night & spit the water, it is reddish in colur. This is not evertime ? Pl advice what is the issue? is it related to deficiency of vitamins or purely case of weak gums?

Mostly it due to week gum and heavy deposits below gum which have converted the gum into bleeding tissue over a period of time.Get scaling and root planing done and observe for 1 month.

Keep Your Toothbrush Clean

BDS
Dentist, Kanpur
Keep Your Toothbrush Clean

After brushing, thoroughly rinse the toothbrush with tap water for at least twenty seconds to remove any toothpaste and debris. Store the toothbrush in an upright position and allow it to dry. Putting a plastic cover on it and throwing it into a drawer creates a moist environment that promotes the growth of most germs. If you are especially worried about bacteria on your brush, you can buy an ultraviolet sanitizer.

The type of treatment you have for toothache will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure and / or root canal treatment. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks.

Pain Even After Root Canal - What To Do

PGDHHM, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Pain Even After Root Canal - What To Do

When a small cavity isn't treated in time, the tooth decays badly that normal filling cannot solve the problem. In such cases, your dentist will probably advise you to undergo, a root canal. When performing a root canal, the dentist will remove the nerves and pulp within the tooth, clean the inside of the tooth and seal it. After this procedure your tooth will not sense anything and should be pain free.

However, in some cases you may still experience pain after root canal and there are four main causes of this pain:

  1. Swelling of ligament around the tooth: One of the signs that you need a root canal is swelling of the gums. Even after the nerves and pulp within the tooth are removed, the ligaments around the infected tooth may still be swollen. This can take some time before the tissue is normal again. In most cases this is the cause for pain after a root canal procedure.
  2. Damaged tissue: Part of the root canal procedure is to clean the insides of the tooth. Here the dentist must be very careful to not go beyond the tooth. In some cases the file used to clean the tooth may go beyond the root and damage the tissue there. Another possibility is that the sealant used to fill the tooth may go beyond the root, thus aggravating the tissue. This can take some time to heal and may cause pain.
  3. Excess filling: After the tooth has been cleaned, the dentist fills the tooth with a sealant. If excessive sealant is filled in the tooth, it may become taller than the surrounding teeth, which puts extra pressure on the tooth and results in soreness and pain. The dentist will have to remove the excess sealant in order to resolve this issue.
  4. Phantom pain: Phantom pain is rare when it comes to root canal. This occurs when the nerve leading up to the tooth still behaves like it were connected to the tooth despite the nerve within the tooth being completely removed. The peripheral nerves will need to be treated to resolve this issue.

In most cases, these events cannot be prevented. There is also no reason to expect that this is a symptom of your root canal being a failure. Stay in touch with your dentist and brush and floss your teeth regularly. You will soon notice the pain subsiding.

No home remedies for your situation. Once cavity is there, it should be followed by a filling. Even if brush it twice daily, progression of cavity will happen. Because you can't make your mouth sterile .so go for filling .if you avoid your filling it may get worsen by the time. Brushing twice daily is a good habit. It will maintain a good oral health and protect your teeth from damage.

All of sudden my gums started to bleed when I brush .I take vit C and calcium everyday. What can I do.
The bleeding gums are due to accumulation of food debris, which is a result of inadequate maintenance of oral hygiene. I suggest that you get thorough professional cleaning/scaling done from a dentist, and use antibacterial mouthwashes thereafter. Following all these measures will solve your problem. Hope that helps.
