As to why our waists are thickening preferentially, there is no decisive answer. Dr. Ford and colleagues speculate in their article about a number of potential explanations. I am inclined to think that a shift toward diets featuring ever more high-glycemic starches and added sugars is among the smoking guns. High glycemic diets trigger elevations of insulin, and among its many effects, insulin favors the deposition of calories around the middle.
And at that point, the plot thickens along with our waistlines. The deposition of those excess calories as fat around our middles, and in particular in our livers, leads directly to insulin resistance, and higher levels of insulin still. That, in turn, fosters more accumulation of centrally distributed fat, and a degenerating spiral ensues that leads to diabetes, and nowhere good

The alcohol content of beer is less 5-9%, as compared to over 40% in case of whisky. The calorie count of beer is also important, as it varies from type to type. Avg is around 4-7 calories per ml. So, consume accordingly. Yes, you can take medicines with /before drinks as they are having calories.

T3/t4/ tsh suggest thyronormalcy. Key difficulty is insufficient and interrupted sleep. 5 hrs per night -this is my major problem. 1. What should I do next since metformin is at max dosage- 2250 per day? no insulin please. Sitagliptin? 2. Is there a natural method of improving testosterone? how far below normal am i? does it need action? thank you,

At 65 yrs, hba1c is fine, but I would recommend to bring to 7, you can start with sitagliptin 100 mg once a day, and continue metformin and voglibose. Take vitamin d3 and vitamin b12 supplements, testerone levels decreases with age, tester one caps can be taken, but under guidance of urologist or sexologist.

Mr. lybrate-user, Any pain killer can be good enough to control pain. Please get the tooth checked by a dentist, because pain usually comes due to infection and swelling and not because of sugar. Thanks.

I am having diabetes. So I wanted to know what should my meal contain and how many times a day can I eat what should it include so it don't cause high sugar level?

MBBS, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Mumbai
I am having diabetes. So I wanted to know what should my meal contain and how many times a day can I eat what should ...
In diabetes meal portion size matters. You can eat frequent small meals instead of 1 large meal. A normal person eats around 3-4 times a day. Diabetic person should eat atlest 6-8 times a day but in small portion at a time. Normally high fibre content in diet delay carb absorption and prevent blood sugar peaks. Anything which will take time to digest in stomach is good for diabetes. For example if you are eating an apple then you should eat entire apple and not just inner pulp. The outer cover (chilka) is also important. In normal diet anything which has cover or chilka on it will take time to get digested and prevents sudden blood sugar peaks.

Please communicate the benefits for daily walking to the diabetic patients and is there any benefits for taking green tea 3 to 4 times in a day.

Any kind of physical exercise including walking has beneficial, I would say therapeutical effect on dieabetes. Physical exercise up regulates numbers of insulin receptors on the cells which improves utilisation of glucose in our body, which results in production of energy and lowering of circulating glucose in the body. Green tea do have good effects as it contains antioxidants.

How to identify type one and type 2 diabetes what are the test and where I can do it in pune.
This is a right questions because you should aware about the difference in between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occur in children. In this diabetes insulin inharrent to secrets by beta cell of pancreas so artificial insulin injected to the patient. Type 2 diabetes occur in adults mainly. In this diabetes insulin secret but not in sufficient amount by pancreas so first you can control by medication. Everyone can be prone to develop diabetes due to life style change, heridritry or obesity. These are the causeing factors to developing diabetes.
