Breast Cancer - How Ayurveda Can Help You Treat it?

If you are suffering from breast cancer, it is recommended that you undertake Ayurvedic measures for an effective and natural treatment. Breast cancer is a form of cancer that occurs in the cells of your breasts. The breast cells undergo abnormal growth and go out of control. This form of cancer is likely to occur in both women and men, although it is most common in women. A lot of breast cancer cases start from the ducts or lobes, while others start from the cellular lining of your milk ducts.

Ayurvedic view
According to the principles of Ayurveda, your body is based on the tridoshas, which include vata, pitta, and kapha.

  1. An imbalance in these doshas can lead to diseases and disruption in your health. Cancer occurs when an imbalance of all the three doshas is experienced.
  2. An improper diet and lifestyle account for being the primary reason for this imbalance in doshas, leading to breast cancer.
  3. Your digestive fire is also affected, which leads to the accumulation of toxins, thereby blocking all the channels of your body.
  4. All these factors are collectively responsible for the development of breast cancer.

Ayurvedic treatment

  1. Ayurvedic treatment for breast cancer is very effective because of its natural approach.
  2. Without the use of any chemicals and radiation, you get efficient management by using Ayurvedic remedies for breast cancer.
  3. Your body functioning is enhanced without the concern of any negative effect on your health.
  4. Several Ayurvedic herbs are used for breast cancer treatment. These herbs help in controlling the abnormal growth of breast cells, and in the later stages of breast cancer, these also help in reducing pain.

The herbs play an important role in preventing the condition from spreading to other organs.

Ashwagandha

  • This powerful Ayurvedic herb contains natural rejuvenating properties for your body.
  • It also helps in eliminating stress, weakness and fatigue, which are associated with breast cancer.

Curcuma

  • This effective Ayurvedic herb contains several medicinal properties.
  • It is an antioxidant and helps in reducing free radicals from your body. This is beneficial for an improved health and immunity.
  • The herb is capable of dealing with toxins and infections, and is super effective in treating malignant cancers.

Kanhnaar Guggul

  • This is an Ayurvedic product, which is obtained by mixing several herbs such as amalaki, haritaki, ginger, kachnar bark and a lot more.
  • This is effective in maintaining healthy tissues and cells. It also stops the abnormal growth of cancerous cells.

It is important for you to visit a licensed and experienced Ayurvedic practitioner for getting the best Ayurvedic remedies for breast cancer treatment. This will ensure that you get the most effective remedies, based on your condition.

Sir doctor say that you are a aml leukemia patient so please advised me that where do treatment.

MD, DM - Clinical Haematology
Hematologist, Ludhiana
Hello, I understand your worry on learning about your diagnosis of AML. At your age there are are encouraging treatment options. It is my advice that you contact a centre with expertise in the management which ideally includes chemotherapy and a potential bone marrow transplant. From your location you could either travel south to Tata Medical Centre, Mumbai or North to CMC, Ludhiana, PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS Delhi. If you can travel further south, there is CMC, Vellore. There are also many corporate hospitals in Delhi and Mumbai too which are good centres for the same. Hoping you do well and are guided well.

5 Ways to Deal With Uterine Cysts

5 Ways to Deal With Uterine Cysts

A uterine cyst, also called as ovarian cyst, is the formation of a fluid-filled sac within the ovary of a woman. Uterine cysts may sometimes cause several physical symptoms. They can cause great pain and unpleasant sensations. Most cysts go away by themselves, but still sufficient measures should be taken to deal with the inconvenience caused by a uterine cyst. In severe cases, the cyst can damage the ovaries. Scar tissue is also likely to build up in such cysts to form an adhesion, which causes discomfort.

Uterine cysts can cause great damage to the sexual organs of a woman, and hence, it should never be ignored. Here are 5 ways to deal with uterine cysts:

  1. Using Birth Control Pills: In case of recurrent uterine cysts, you can take oral contraceptives with the prescription of a doctor. This will prohibit ovulation, and the development of new cysts will be prevented. The risk of ovarian cancer is also reduced.

  2. Laparoscopy: In case the cyst is small, a laparoscopy surgery can be conducted by a doctor. This will enable the surgical removal of the cyst. The process of laparoscopy involves making of a small incision around the navel region. A small instrument or device is inserted into the abdomen, which removes the cyst.

  3. Laparotomy: Laparotomy is a surgical procedure of removing a large uterine cyst. This procedure is applied when a cyst becomes too large to be removed using laparoscopy. The procedure involves the removal of the cyst via an incision made in the abdomen. An immediate biopsy is conducted and in case the cyst is found out to be cancerous, a hysterectomy surgery is conducted, which removes the ovaries and uterus completely.

  4. Herbal Tea: Moving from medical procedures to natural ways for dealing with uterine cysts, herbal tea is believed to be one of the best natural treatments for uterine cysts. Herbal tea helps in the breakdown of large cysts and the side effects of the cysts such as discomfort or pain are eased. Have a cup of herbal tea every day to get rid of uterine cysts.

  5. Diet: Uterine cysts may develop due to an unhealthy diet. Modern food items contain synthetic and natural estrogens, which cause disruption in ovarian health. Consuming adulterated meat, where the animals are given hormones, and antibiotics may result in uterine cysts. Soy contains a great amount of estrogen, which leads to uterine cysts. All the food items which may lead to ovarian cysts should be avoided.

Uterine cysts are common in women and are caused due to several complications. You should not let uterine cysts develop as development increases severity.

Most likely, the cause of your symptoms are disc bulge. The best treatment at this stage is physiotherapy. Medications such as pregabalin and gabapentin are also helpful.

Spinal Cord Injury: Know How To Prevent It!

Spinal Cord Injury: Know How To Prevent It!

The spinal cord is like a cable consisting of millions of nerves that transmit messages in the form of electrochemical signals from the brain to the rest of the body, and also sensations from the body back to the brain. We are able to perceive pain and move our limbs because of messages sent through the spinal cord.

The spinal cord is soft and vulnerable to injury. It is protected by the bony structure of the vertebral column. A spinal cord injury can happen if there is a fracture of the spine. Sometimes, even if the vertebral column is intact, violent shaking can cause cord contusions. It’s an extremely serious type of injury that is likely to have a lasting and significant impact on most aspects of daily life.

If the spinal cord sustains an injury, some or all of these impulses may get blocked. The result is a loss of sensation and mobility below the level of injury. A spinal cord injury closer to the neck will typically cause paralysis throughout the body, while one in the lower back may affect the legs but spare the hands.

Causes:

A spinal cord injury is often the result of violent trauma. Events like spontaneous hemorrhage, infection, tumors or autoimmune diseases can also cause spinal cord damage. Some causes of traumatic injury to the spinal cord are :

  • trauma during a car accident (specifically, trauma to the face, head and neck region, back, or chest area)
  • falling from a significant height
  • head or spinal injuries during sporting events
  • electrical accidents
  • a violent attack such as a stabbing or a gunshot
  • Diving head first into water that’s too shallow and hitting the bottom

Symptoms-

Some symptoms of a spinal cord injury include:

  • Neck or back pain
  • Pain radiating along limbs, or numbness/ pins and needles sensation along the arms or legs.
  • Weakness of particular muscle groups in focal injury, to complete paralysis in severe injury.
  • Clumsiness during finer actions using the hands.
  • Unsteadiness or loss of balance while walking.
  • Loss of control of the bladder or bowels You must take immediate precautions

If there is the slightest suspicion that someone has a back or neck injury:

  • Call 911 or your local emergency medical assistance number
  • Do not move the injured person – permanent paralysis and other serious complications may result.
  • Place heavy towels on both sides of the neck or hold the head and neck to prevent them from moving until emergency care arrives •    Provide basic first aid, such as stopping any bleeding and making the person comfortable, without moving the head or neck
  • If movement is absolutely necessary, arrange a cervical collar, then log-roll onto a stiff spine board or flat surface, taking care that all parts of the body move together and that any relative movement between one part of the spine to the next is avoided.

Prevention-
Because spinal cord injuries are often due to unpredictable events, the best you can do is reduce your risk. Some risk-reducing measures include:

  • always wearing a seatbelt while in a car
  • wearing proper protective gear while playing sports
  • never diving into water unless you’ve examined it first to make sure it’s deep enough and free of rocks
  • increase protective measures to avoid falls from height

Treatment:
Seek the opinion of a Neurosurgeon or an Orthopedic spine surgeon as soon as possible. X-rays, CT scan or MRI scans may be advised for assessing bony or soft tissue injuries of spine. Minor injuries require only immobilization and rest. Severe injuries, however, may require steroid injections and surgical intervention. Time is of essence, and an early surgery in certain situations may save a limb that would otherwise be paralyzed for life.

Herniated disks or bone spurts in the vertebrae of the neck may become the reason behind severe neck pan. They sometimes take too much space and compress the nerves branching out from the spinal cord.

Benign & Malignant Breast Tumors - Things You Must Be Aware Of!

Benign & Malignant Breast Tumors - Things You Must Be Aware Of!

The presence of a lump or a tumor in the breast is not always indicative of breast cancer. In some instances, the breast tumor can be benign or noncancerous as well. Thus, to understand breast cancer better, one should know the difference between a benign and malignant breast tumor. In this article, we will discuss the factors that differentiate a benign breast tumor from a malignant one.

Breast Fibroadenomas

  1. Breast Fibroadenomas are benign breast tumors that often affect women in their early 20s and 30s (can also affect women of other age groups). Research suggests that in spite of being benign and noncancerous, breast fibroadenomas make a woman more susceptible to breast cancer in the future.
  2. It may be difficult to decipher the underlying factor that triggers fibroadenomas. However, increased use of birth control pills (that results in an elevated estrogen level) can be a contributing factor.
  3. Thus, in spite of no discomfort, it is safe to get fibroadenomas removed by lumpectomy or by radiation therapy. There are also instances when fibroadenomas dissolved on their own.
  4. Sometimes, the lobules of the breast can undergo enlargement resulting in the formation of lumps (can be a tumor or a cyst) that are non-cancerous in nature. Such tumors are known as Adenosis.
  5. The benign tumor growth can also develop in the milk ducts of the nipples, a condition known as Intraductal papillomas (characterized by discharge from the nipples).
  6. To stay safe and lower the risk of breast cancer, doctors often recommend the removal of the tumor.

Differences between Benign and Malignant Breast Tumors

  1. One of the major factors resulting in a tumor is the abnormal growth of cells that could be triggered by an injury, an infection or prolonged inflammation.
  2. A factor that plays a pivotal role in differentiating malignant from benign breast lumps or tumors is its ability to metastasize or invade other organs, cells and tissues of the body.
  3. A malignant tumor starts off as a primary tumor that remains confined within its point of origin. Gradually, the cancerous growth metastasize, invading other neighboring as well as distant cells and body organs (Secondary cancer or tumor).
  4. Benign tumors, on the other hand, contains chemical adhesions that prevent their metastasis and invasion to the other vital organs in the body.
  5. As compared to malignant tumors, benign breast tumors, once removed, do not recur.
  6. On the cellular level, microscopic examination reveals that malignant breast tumors often contain unusual, mutated, and modified genes and chromosomes.
  7. More than often, malignant breast tumors give rise to Paraneoplastic Syndrome. The Paraneoplastic Syndrome is characterized by an elevated production of substances (can be antibodies or hormones) by the cancerous growths or tumors. The hormones or the antibodies circulate in the bloodstream and can alter the functioning of a host of vital body tissues and organs with deleterious health consequences.

Such things seldom take place in the case of benign breast tumors. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
