By realising that even a single puff of smoking or drink of alcohol is bad not only physically but contaminates your consciousness and mindset because the ingredients in cigarette/bidi/alcohol are basically intoxicants or poisonous Even a single puff of smoking is bad not only physically but contaminates your consciousness and mindset because the ingredients in alcohol/tobacco/cigarette/bidi are basically intoxicants or poisonous. Simply read nice books which give you a higher meaning to life than chemicals in alcohol/drugs/smoking/tobacco. Also, remember that smoking is harmful to your body Please remember that alcohol/drugs/smoking is toxic to your body, mind and well-being. The earlier you can stop this habit, the healthier it can be for you. The lower taste and sinful habit of alcohol/smoking/drugs can be stopped by replacing it with the higher taste. Simply read nice books which give you a higher meaning to life than chemicals in alcohol/drugs/smoking In place of alcohol, spend your time by doing transcendental meditation or Bhakti yoga and Chant the names of God Who you have faith in. It has been scientifically proved that by doing Yoga and Chanting, the habit of alcohol/smoking/drugs can be stopped. By chanting with love, soon you would be swimming in an ocean of pleasure which is million times greater than flickering pleasure of intoxicants like alcohol, and automatically the attraction to the low taste of alcohol would stop.

Hi there ~ Stay focused on the present. Pay attention to the way your body feels, the rhythm of your breathing, your ever-changing emotions, and the thoughts that drift across your mind. If you find yourself getting stuck on a particular thought, bring your attention back to the present moment. Using mindfulness meditation to stay focused on the present is a simple concept, but it takes practice to reap the benefits. At first, you’ll probably find that your mind keeps wandering back to your worries. Try not to get frustrated. Each time you draw your focus back to the present, you’re reinforcing a new mental habit that will help you break free of the negative worry cycle.

I get very depress at exam tym. My hand and legs starts shivering. And my mind goes out of my control I cant perform ...
I think you get into a panic mode during the exams and develop the jitters. It is best for you to do deep breathing for a few minutes and you will calm down immediately. There is a good exercise that helps to lower panic immediately: block your closed lips with your index finger and blow tight against your cheeks and hold that breath for some time and then release it. Your heart beat will slow down instantly and you will have a calmer demeanor to approach your exam paper. A lot of the reason may be true because of stress perhaps. But you may work on the following to better improve yourself: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive or coconut oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that you and the family go for counseling too.

I am constantly worried about my heart health and I fear it can stop...
Dear lybrate user. I can understand. Chest pain is due to anxiety. You can be health conscious. But you should not think about your heart health always and be apprehensive. This leads to obsession, obsession leads to chest pain, pain leads to anxiety, anxiety leads to acidity and hyperventilation and this leads to chest pain, anxiety etc. These are cyclical and one leads to another. I suggest counselling and cognitive behavior therapy as a cure. Take care.

Dear lybrate-user, Welcome to Lybrate. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Nicotine and other chemicals can cause cancer of different types and areas. Throat cancer, mouth cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer and brain problems can result. Over and above smoking may also increase the risk factor of heart attack and brain stroke. Please quit smoking. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. If you’re ready to stop smoking and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from nicotine addiction and abuse abuse—no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating nicotine addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of smoking. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Mind power building therapy, motivation therapy etc should help you doing so. I suggest you to consult a psychologist or de addiction therapist. Take care.

Dear , masturbation is natural and almost every person masturbates. Masturbation in moderation is healthy and is a stress buster. At your age you can masturbate thrice in a week or alternate days. No harm at all. Don't be apprehensive about its after effects. Just enjoy. Take care.

Depression In Adults - 5 Signs To Help You Recognise!

Depression In Adults - 5 Signs To Help You Recognise!

Alternating between being happy and sad as you go through life's ups and downs is normal, but if you're sad most of the time, it could be a sign of being depressed.  Depression takes the joy out of all your activities, and can make merely getting through a day feel overwhelming. The first step to overcome this problem is to understand its symptoms and causes.  Not everyone experiences depression the same way, but here are a few questions that can help tell you if you are depressed or not.

Do you feel helpless?

It is common for depressed people to feel helpless and that everything around them is out of their control. As a result, the person may either stop participating in activities all together or try to control things they can't. Both situations are cyclic and lead to further depression.

Have you lost interest in daily activities?

The feeling of helplessness is one of the main reasons depressed people lose interest in activities. Another reason is that activities that were once enjoyed now do not seem interesting enough. In most cases, this leads to the person isolating himself and withdrawing from all his family and friends.

Do you often feel angry or irritated?

Depression is almost always accompanied by irritability and anger. Small annoyances that would usually be overlooked quickly, take on an inappropriate significance. This can lead to poor impulse control, substance abuse and anxiety disorder. In most cases, anger and depression are related by the person trying to take accountability for things that are out of his control and hence feeling helpless.

Is there a change in your sleep pattern?

Your sleep quality is very closely related to the way you feel. Depressed people often suffer either from insomnia or oversleeping. Depressed people can have trouble going to sleep as well as staying asleep. This can cause drowsiness and lethargy during the day. Sleep apnea is also linked with depression. As you can imagine, if this is left untreated, it will only worsen your depression.

Do you feel tired?

When the body does not get adequate sleep, you begin the day feeling tired. Thus depressed people often feel fatigued and complain of a number of muscle and joint pains.  This is because the body has not had enough time to regenerate cells during the night. This is usually complemented by complains of persistent headaches and stomach aches, both of which are emotionally connected to the way you feel.

The nature of depression is such that it lowers a person's self esteem to the point of interfering with his ability to seek help. Hence if you have a positive response to the above questions, it is time to address your problem before it worsens. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Psychologist.

Mecobalamin is a form of vitamin b12, it is water soluble vitamin and is primarily excreted through urine. Please gracefully accept the fact that you are no longer a contender for the post of his wife. You tried your best to convince him and he did not budge. That is not your or his fault. Circumstances are to blame and there is no use blaming circumstances. Concentrate on your education and career. Take care.

You are suffering from anxiety disorder and Flight Phobia. You also know that this kind of fear is mostly irrational, it is a fear of escape from the flight if something unwanted events happens. millions of people are travelling by flight daily. Flight is one of the most safest mode of transport in comparison to other transport. There are more accidents on ground than on the air. So nothing to scared. During flight close your eyes, take deep and long breathe. Try to relax on board by hearing some relaxation music. Hope everything will be okay....Have a safe journey... Thanks.
