So...
Prolonged smoking does cause bronchitis, lung cancer, high cholesterol, heart diseases, diabetes complication, erectile dysfunction etc. You may go for chest xray, cbc blood test, lipid profile, blood glucose level test.

My s. Cholesterol is 247, HDL cholesterol 31.5, LDL cholesterol 131.8, VLDL Cholesterol 83.7, S. Triglyceride 418.8, CHO/HDL Ratio 7.84, LDL/HDL Ratio 4.18. My echo test says echogarphic window good. Now what I do.

Hi Lybrate user, as per the results of your lipid profile you can maintain it by eating healthy foods in your diet like- fruits, salads, pulses and legumes, oats, dalia, green leafy vegetables, eggs, chicken, fish etc. Avoid high salt in foods, fried, carbonated drinks, alcohol, smoking, junk foods. Also with this do some exercises like walk at least 20-30 mins will help maintain a healthy life. Good luck!

Generally antihypertensive medicines have to be taken lifelong, if you stop these medicines bp will again increase and will make you prone to diseases like heart attack, stroke etc.

Aim to reduce 2 Kg per month and in one year.. 24 KGS .. you can come down to a healthy weight. If you aim for 30 Kgs in few weeks then you are trying to Go against Laws Of Nature. The laws of nature don't change for anyone. Aim for fitness. Aim for health. Aim to look Slim and Trim.. Aim to look Fit and smart. Start your journey towards fitness step by step. Follow the advice given by other doctors. Its possible to be fit. Just keep moving ahead step by step.

Dear , if your echo and tmt are normal, then the chest heaviness can not be due to heart. Still I would advise you to consult a cardiologist in person.

If you are new to exercises, it will cause pain. Don't worry. Take exercises easily till your body adapts. Pain will disappear after some time.

Your lifestyle should be modified to low fat & salt diet and exercises and you need to take antidiabetic and antihypertensive medication.

Take exercise regularly,avoid oily and spicy food, reduce your weight. Avoid egg, mutton. Monitor your TG level and consult doctor if it is still high

Dear lybrate user, -avoid drinking cold water & other cold drinks. -take more of warm fluids like tea, milk etc -do steam inhalation 2-3 times daily you may add a little vicks vapourrub in the water -avoid spicy& fried foods -have teaspoonful of honey with breakfast -avoid dust in house & wear a mask when you move out -have a teaspoon of cough syrup thrice daily -please get yourself checked up by a doctor or consult online.

Dear user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and Continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety. I suggest anxiety education, progressive counseling and progressive psychotherapy. I assure you complete cure. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

1. Sleep well and regular. Irregular sleep can have some serious consequences. It affects both our physical health and also contributes to anxiety and stress. Anxiety as such also leads to disruptions in sleep. When feeling anxious, always try to get a full 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep and it can work wonders to improve your condition. 2. Always keep smiling. Take a quick break in between your hectic work to get some laughs with your friends. Laughter can reduce depression and anxiety and has proven benefits. 3. Tidy up your living space or workspace. Keep your things clean and clutter-free. That helps us think clear and thus reducing levels of anxiety. 4. Say thank you often. Expressing your thanks for something helps reduce anxiety. 5. Eat smart. Eating more of foods which are rich in vitamin b and omega-3 fatty acids and also healthy whole grain carbs. Vitamin b contributes to good mental health. While omega 3 fatty acids help with both depression and anxiety. Whole grain foods boost serotonin and helps us remain poised. Eating high-sugar content food and processed foods can increase levels of anxiety. 6. Learn to breathe well and relax. Short, shallow breaths arise when you are tensed. So consciously breathing deeply, plus increasing the duration and depth of breathing helps relax the body and mind to a great extent. 7. Meditate. Meditation has so many positive effects on stress, mood, and anxiety. Club meditation with positive thinking to improve your general well-being and overall health. Yoga is also very effective to take off stress from the body and mind by deep relaxation and breathing techniques. 8. Chill and be silent. Reduce the noise and clutter talk that contributes to anxiety. Find time for yourself and be alone to muse upon your own matters without anyone disturbing you. 9. Worry. Yes, we can cause ourselves to freak out, but only for a certain amount of time. When something weighs heavily on your mind, or you believe something terrible is most definitely going to occur, commit to only creating that worry for 20 minutes. Think of all the possible outcomes of the scenario, figure out some game plans, and then quit thinking about it after 20 minutes go by. Have a friend call after the allotted time has passed to avoid the temptation of going over the time limit. Or schedule some of that playtime right afterward. 10. Plan for the future but do not worry about it. Make time tables and to-do lists so that you will not be worried about finishing stuff and so that you can increase your productivity. 11. Be positive. When you feel anxious, train your mind to think and feel positive and give reinforcement to yourself that you can handle any situation. This will significantly reduce your stress and anxiety symptoms. 12. Smell relaxing stuff. Go out to your garden. Smell a fresh rose. Take a deep breathe and allow the relaxation to course through your whole body. You can also use relaxing aroma therapy and use it indoors. 13. Go out and spend time with your friends and family. Spend time with your pets social support reduces anxiety and stress to such a great extent that it is almost always bearable. So next time you get on your nerves, go out with your friends, chat with them, watch a movie, spend some time watching the waves in the beach with your partner, talk to your siblings. If you have tried all these and still have problems, please consult me for prescription medication.

Dear lybrate user, since your wife is 60 years old, it is advisable to take her to a doctor and get all routine physical tests done. You need to know if all her body functions like thyroid, hormone levels etc are normal or not. Treating her bp with only diet control may also be harmful. Please take doctor's advise. If all her organs are functioning normally, then you may consult a counsellor. Because, then the emotional outbursts may be because of suppressed feelings like anger, sadness, shame, guilt etc. The counselling sessions will help her to relieve her of her stress and help her in modifying her reactions to different situations. This will help her in expressing her feelings in socially acceptable way.

Dear Lybrateuser, - At your age your chest pain could be due to acidity, anxiety or sedentary habit - avoid spicy, fried & junk foods, restrict intake of tea/ coffee to 1-2 cups per day, also avoid alcohol & tobacco if you take - do not skip meals, have meals on time, chew your food well, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, do not lye down for about an hour after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - have 7-8 glasses of water for proper digestion - do regular exercise, play games, also do yoga, deep breathing & meditation for 10-15 min daily morning - take syrup Gelucil, 2 teaspoonful three times a day half an hour after meals.
