Hello, Bournvita or any malted beverages in loaded with sugar and other artificial components. They contribute to no or little nutritional benefits. Discontinue its usage, coffee can be taken once a day minus, sugar. Get your vitamin B12 and calcium check for muscle twitching.

You need to consult a physiotherapist personally to get yourself examined and to see the extent of your problem. It might require few sessions of electrotherapy, exercises and manual therapy. Until you do that, you can do some basic exercises for relieving sciatica pain. These exercises you can read in my "Health Tips" on Lybrate.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Hi I can understand your problem. Stop gym workout till pain subsides. Apply hot pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. Physiotherapist can teach you exercises to help stretch and strengthen the muscles of back. Do reply for specific treatment plan. Wishing you a good health.

Hello, Is there any history of injury or hurt to the area? Any underlying medical condition? Medication: Meantime, take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Avoid lifting any weight for few days. Get back to me thereafter.

I have pain in my sciatica nerves I am on medicine even I have consulted physiotherapist. One say to do hot water pack massage and one says ice pack. Which should I go for?

Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. It is natural to have some degenerative changes in your lower back region seeing your age. But if you do not have any other symptoms like leg pains, numbness, weakness in legs, paresthesias ( electrical shock like sensations) and your pain is only localized to your back region, then I would think the best way to move ahead is with good and intensive physical therapy under supervision. Also kindly tell me how much distance can you walk without pain? do you take pain killers for walking? also take regular calcium medications and vitamin d as required to keep your bone metabolism intact. Get your blood tested for Vit D 3, and bone densitometery. Calcium rich diet exercises are goodfor osteoporosis.
