Hi Sir, My son is 5 weeks old and suffering from Cough and congestion since last 2 days. Breathing sound is like grhh...
1.Reach for fluids. As with any illness, staying hydrated is your first line of defense against coughing. If your cough stems from a dry throat, a little hydration might be all you need. Even if your cough is caused by something else, drinking plenty of fluids is never a bad idea 2 Make the fluids warm. For certain coughs, such as ones caused by congestion or sinus drainage, warm liquids can be even more effective than cold or room temperature ones. 3.Try saltwater. Particularly in cases of cold- or flu-related coughs, salt water is your friend. 4.Consider steam — in some cases. Conventional wisdom often dictates that steam from a shower or a humidifier can help combat a cough; however, that’s only the case if your cough is due to dry air. If you’re coughing because of congestion, asthma, dust mites, or mold, among other causes, moist air could actually make your cough worse. 5.Stay upright. Being horizontal can cause mucus to drain into your throat. When sleeping with a cough, for example, you should prop up your head with pillows to prevent sinus drainage from pooling in your throat, causing you to cough. 6.Keep the air clean. Stay away from dirty air, including cigarette smoke.Particulates in the air could either be the source of your cough or worsen one that has other causes. Strong fragrances, such as perfumes, can cause some people to cough, even if they’re not irritating to others 7.Keep the air still. Avoid wind, ceiling fans, heaters, and air conditioners, because moving air can make coughs worse For medication consult online in private

Hello Doctor, I am having Hypothyroid and breastfeeding my infant. Earlier before pregnancy my thyroid level used to remain normal by taking Thyronorm 75 mcg however, Doctor advice me to take Thyronorm 100 mcg during pregnancy to keep thyroid level balanced and to continue it till 3 months after baby born. Now 3 months after my delivery, I checked the thyroid level which were slightly reduced from the normal and doctor advised 75 mcg as a remedy. I would like to ask whether breastfeeding is advisable in this situation? Does my infant can get affected by it? Does my infant can develop the thyroid problems considering my intake of medicine? Kindly provide me a healthy solution.

Let me make it very clear to you - optimizing your own thyroids will only be helpful to the health of your baby. I prefer to prescribe compounded thyroids (containing both T3 as well as T4) for my patients along with optimizing metabolic parameters mainly through therapeutic doses of nutraceuticals.

1 year 3 month baby had a cardiac problem which is called (coa, had he spend his life normally after andrioscopy?
Hello thanks for the query the management and outcome of coarctation of aorta depends on its severity and it's effect on lung. If coarctation is mild and cardiac contractility is good you can wait. If possible the surgery should be deferred till 5 years of age as if operated earlier baby may need to be operated again. Please attach the report so that I better able to help you out. Regards.

Both drugs are same in its content and the concept of mld or string is not correct. The dose of he drug is based on the weight of the baby and self medication need to be avoided

Why Skin-To-Skin Contact With A New Born Is Important?

M.D(Pediatrics), MBBS

Why Skin-To-Skin Contact With A New Born Is Important?

Newborns primarily need your love, care, and attention. If you aren't sure whether you're on the right track with your little one, read on to find out the 3 most important things that your newborn needs:

1. Skin-to-skin contact: One of the best ways to speed up the bonding process with your newborn is by having as much as possible skin-to-skin contact with your child. This is important as the newborn connects through smell and touch during this time. The senses of your baby are naturally tuned to react to the feel of your bare skin and your distinctive smell.

Many studies also suggest that close physical contact can help in reducing stress in your newborn so as to allow its biological drive to come through and easily latch onto your breast to feed itself. In other words, it ensures a higher chance of getting the newborn started on breast milk in case your child is not taking to your breasts easily.

2. To be breastfed: The best food for your baby is milk that is produced by you. Breast milk offers a host of benefits that go beyond basic nourishment. According to research conducted by the national institute of environmental health sciences, a child faces 20% lower chances of dying between the ages of 28 days and 1 year if he or she is breastfed.

Protecting your child from illnesses such as childhood cancers or type 1 and type 2 diabetes, allergies, and obesity are some of the very important benefits that mother's milk can provide.

3. Swaddling your baby right: Wrapping a blanket snugly around the body of your newborn can help calm your little one and promote sleep. Several studies reveal that this technique of swaddling (which is done to resemble the mother's womb) if done correctly can bring about longer and better sleep for your child as well as reduce instances of crying. It also ensures your baby stays warm and comfortable.

Since the child is exclusively on breast feed, you shd include more liquids in your diet. Take water, fruits, nimbupani, buttermilk, coconut water etc. Considering the hot weather, the baby needs to be fed more frequently.
