Bleeding is due to inflammation in your gums caused due to poor oral hygiene. Medicines will not help you solve your problem. You need to have a clean up done and follow instructions given by your dentist to maintain your oral hygiene.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
There may be come medicines claimed to be useful in Dm and Obesity. There proven value based on scientific evidence is lacking. Basically diabetes need to be strictly monitored and hypertension, - silent killer- needs to be actively treated. YOu ask me privately for prescription. Menopause is a unique experience for every woman. It is the ending of a woman's monthly menstrual periods and ovulation. It also signals other changes to the body and mind, brought on in part because the body begins producing lesser amounts of the hormones estrogen and progesterone (among others). Menopause is not a disease. It is a natural process in a woman's life. How a woman views this time of her life can have a lot to do with how frequent and severe her symptoms are. If menopause is viewed as the end of youth and sexuality, this time will be much more difficult than if it is viewed as the next, natural phase of life, a time of greater freedom, liberation from the restrictions of youth. . Although menopause is one of the important physical milestones in a woman's life, many women lack concrete information about what is taking place and what are their options. With a proper diet, nutritional supplements, and exercise and simple lifestyle changes, most of the unpleasant side effects of menopause can be minimized to a great extent and with this knowledge and preparation you can step forward with grace and embrace it! Ayurvedic Symptoms of Menopause : Ayurveda links menopause with aging. Aging is a ‘Vata’ predominant stage of life. Thus, the symptoms of menopause experienced by some women are similar to the symptoms seen when the Vata dosha rises and upsets the normal balance of the body. Vata-type menopausal symptoms tend to include depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Menopause may also manifest itself as a rise in the other two humors also. Women with Pitta-type symptoms are often angry and suffer hot flashes. Kapha type symptoms include listlessness, weight gain, and feelings of mental and physical heaviness. Ayurvedic Treatment of Menopause : The type of treatment depends upon the dosha in which the woman's menopausal symptoms are manifesting. Here it is important to note that health problems at menopause represent imbalances in the body that were already growing in the body and are unmasked by the stress of shifting hormones. Menopause symptoms are Nature's wake-up call to let you know you need to start paying more attention to your health. Taking proper steps in the direction of balancing the imbalance doshas, paying attention to your diet and making lifestyle changes now is critical to ensuring that you age gracefully without the burden of chronic health problems. Vata-type menopause Symptoms – Nervousness, anxiety, panic, mood swings, vaginal dryness, loss of skin tone, feeling cold, irregular periods, insomnia, mild or variable hot flashes, constipation, palpitations, bloating and joints aches and pains. Treatment: Diet - Increase warm food and drinks, regular meals, and use spices such as fennel and cumin. Decrease caffeine and other stimulants, refined sugar, cold drinks, salads. Lifestyle - Early bedtime, oil massage using almond and olive oil, meditation, yoga, Regular exercise like walking Anti-Vata herbs include ashwagandha, arjuna, astragalus, cardamom, comfrey root, garlic, ginseng, guggul, hawthorn berries, licorice, myrrh, rehmannia, sandalwood and zizphus. Pitta-type menopause Symptoms - Prone to Hot Temper, anger, irritability, feeling hot, hot flashes, night sweats, heavy periods, excessive bleeding, urinary tract infections, skin rashes and acne. Treatment: Diet - Increase cooling foods, water intake, sweet juicy fruits (grapes, pears, plums, mango, melons, apples,) zucchini, yellow squash, cucumber, organic foods. Use spices such as cinnamon, cardamom and fennel. Avoid hot spicy foods, hot drinks and alcohol. no eating late at night. Lifestyle - Go to bed before 10 PM , oil massage using coconut and sesame oil. Use Meditation and other techniques to reduce anger, hatred and resentment. Exercise and exposure to the sun are limited. Anti Pitta herbs to be used include aloe vera, arjuna, barberry, golden seal, gotu kola, saffron, sandalwood and shatavari. Kapha-type menopause Symptoms - Menopausal Weight Gain , sluggishness, lethargy, fluid retention, yeast infections, lazy, depressed, lacking motivation, slow digestion. Treatment: Diet – Prefer light, dry and warm food, Consume fruits, whole grains, legumes, vegetables. Use spices such as black pepper, turmeric and ginger. Avoid meat, cheese, sugar, cold foods and drinks. Weekly fasting is helpful. Most or all of the daily food should be consumed before 6 p.m. Lifestyle - Get up early (by 6AM). Mustard oil and linseed oil are often recommended for massage. Anti Kapha Herbs include bayberry, cayenne, cinnamon, guggul, motherwort ,mustard and myrrh. Key factors in achieving graceful menopause – A smooth menopause transition and great health in the years to come can be achieved with the help of - Balancing Doshas - Ascertain the imbalance dosha according to your symptoms and follow the advice given above to balance that dosha. Balancing Diet - Diet plays a key role in balancing hormones during and after menopause. It is well known that Japanese women rarely experience hot flashes, probably because their diet contains large amounts of soy/soya, a food rich in certain plant estrogens called "isoflavones." Soya products are not the only source of plant estrogens, however. Another equally healthful source of phytoestrogens are "lignans," compounds found in a variety of whole foods including grains and cereals, dried beans and lentils, flaxseed, sunflower seeds and peanuts, vegetables such as asparagus, sweet potatoes, carrots, garlic and broccoli and fruits such as pears, plums and strawberries. Common herbs and spices such as thyme oregano, nutmeg, turmeric and licorice also have estrogenic properties. Eat a varied diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dried beans .It’s a rich source of phytoestrogen. Variety and moderation are important because just as too much estrogen is unhealthy after menopause, too much phytoestrogen may also be dangerous. Apana Vata, which governs the genito-urinary tract, elimination, and menstruation, is a key area to attend to when preparing for menopause. Drink plenty of warm water throughout the day. Eat plenty of cooked, leafy greens, as this helps elimination and is also a good source of calcium. For both Pitta and Vata imbalances, a breakfast of cooked apples and prunes and figs is a good way to start the day, as it balances the doshas and cleanses the digestive track. Panchakarma - More serious symptoms, such as frequent hot flashes, continual sleep disturbance, and moderate to severe mood swings, are signs of deeper imbalances. Ayurveda describes that these stubborn symptoms are usually due to the buildup of wastes and toxins, referred to as "ama," in the body's tissues. In this case, a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification program "panchakarma," may be needed to clear the body's channels and gain relief. This internal cleansing approach is also the treatment of choice for more serious problems such as osteoporosis and high cholesterol.

Homeopathic Remedies for Mental And Physical Stress!

Homeopathic Remedies for Mental And Physical Stress!

Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person’s thoughts, feelings, behavior and sense of well-being.

Depressed people can feel sad, empty, anxious, worried, hopeless, helpless, worthless, irritable, guilty, hurt, or restless. They may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions, and may contemplate, attempt, or commit suicide. Insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains, or digestive problems may also be present.

Causes of Depression

  1. Lifestyle: Lifestyle factors that may play a role in depressed moods include irregular sleep, poor diet, and lack of exercise. Poor diet may contribute to a depressed mood.
  2. Life events: Life events and changes that may precipitate depressed mood include childbirth, menopause, financial difficulties, job problems, a medical diagnosis (cancer, HIV, etc.), bullying, loss of a loved one, natural disasters, social isolation, relationship troubles, separation, and catastrophic injury. Serious injuries may predispose a person to have a depressed mood.
  3. Medical treatments: Certain medications are known to cause depressed mood in a significant number of patients. These include hepatitis C drug therapy and some drugs used to treat high blood pressure, such as beta-blockers or reserpine.
  4. Non-psychiatric illnesses: Depressed mood can be the result of a number of infectious diseases, neurological conditions and physiological problems including hypoandrogenism (in men), Addison’s disease, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, stroke, diabetes, cancer, sleep apnea, and disturbed circadian rhythm.
  5. Psychiatric syndromes: A number of psychiatric syndromes feature depressed mood as a main symptom.

Types of Depression

  1. Major depression: Major depression is characterized by a combination of symptoms that last for at least two weeks in a row, including sad and/or irritable mood that restricts the ability to work, sleep, eat, and enjoy once-pleasurable activities. Difficulties in sleeping or eating can take the form of excessive or insufficient of either behavior.
  2. Dysthymia: Dysthymia is a less severe but usually more long-lasting type of depression compared to major depression. It involves long-term (chronic) symptoms that do not disable but yet prevent the affected person from functioning at “full steam” or from feeling good.
  3. Bipolar disorder (manic depression): Another type of depression is bipolar disorder, which encompasses a group of mood disorders that were formerly called manic-depressive illness or manic depression. These conditions show a particular pattern of inheritance. Bipolar disorders are often chronic and recurring. Sometimes, the mood switches are dramatic and rapid, but most often they are gradual.

Complications of Depression

Depression can have a significant impact on the structure and function of many parts of the brain. This can result in many negative consequences. People with severe depression are at higher risk of suffering from anxiety, chronic depression, other emotional issues or having more medical problems or chronic pain. People with a chronic illness, such as diabetes and heart disease, who also have depression tend to have a worse outcome of their medical illness.

Treatment of Depression

Depressed mood may not require any professional treatment, and may be a normal reaction to certain life events, a symptom of some medical conditions. Lifestyle strategies that may improve depressed mood include wake therapy, light therapy, eating a healthy diet, meditation, exercise, and smoking cessation.

Homeopathic medicines for Depression

The homeopathic understanding of health is intimately connected to its understanding of the mind in general. Homeopaths don't separate the mind and body in the usual way; they generally assume that body and mind are dynamically interconnected and that both directly influence each other. Homeopaths base virtually every homeopathic prescription on the physical and psychological symptoms of the sick person. Psychological symptoms often play a primary role in the selection of the correct medicine. Trying to determine whether a person's mental state caused his physical disease or vice versa is rarely helpful in discovering the correct homeopathic medicine. The homeopath seeks to find a medicine that matches the totality of the person's physical and psychological symptoms, irrespective of "which came first."

Homeopathic medicines for Depression

  1. Arsenicum album
  2. Aurum metallicum
  3. Calcarea carbonica
  4. Causticum
  5. Cimicifuga
  6. Ignatia amara
  7. Kali phosphoricum
  8. Natrum carbonicum
  9. Natrum muriaticum
  10. Pulsatilla

The homeopathic treatment for depression is customized for you so that you get long term relief. The homeopathic treatment for depression is 100% safe and proven to be effective in most of our patients. The right homeopathic medicines for depression has to be chosen by a qualified and an experienced Homeopathic doctor. So, always consult a specialized homeopath.

In homeopathy, the practitioner prescribes the medicine after considering the totality of symptoms. He takes the elaborate history. Sometimes, it is important to know whether physical symptoms appeared first or mental symptoms appeared first to differentiate between the most similar medicines.

There are about 150 medicines indicated for this purpose. To find out the similimum or the most appropriate medicine a qualified homeopathic doctor takes an extensive account of patient's case taking the process and the chose it. Always consult a qualified homeopathic doctor, as your mental health is important.

Hi. I got infection in my tooth. Its been 3 years I was feeling sensitivity and it was getting increase with time. Now a days I am feeling pain in that tooth. Do I need rct? Can I smoke during the period of treatment?

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
Hello, lybrate-user. First thing I would like to tell you and others is that dental problems are not cured by medicines. You will always need to undergo dental treatments when the cause is decay, fracture or plaque/calculus. Your history suggests infection, but without pics or doing inspection, its hard to know the cause. Still, if the tooth has decay n its not mobile then go for the root canal treatment as it would save your tooth and restore the functionality. Secondly, when tooth has pus at the end of the root due to infection, its better to avoid any type of heat to the local area either in form of hot massage, hot water gargles, or even smoking. Heat may spread the infection to other spaces leading to swelling. Smoking leads to interdental bone loss and your teeth become mobile. Most importantly, it may cause cancer. I hope this information would help you.

Your bmi is 26. 6, and you are overweight. You have to persist with a low carbohydrate and low fat, high protein diet. Stop all cereals, sugar, bakery products and desserts. Take the white of 2 boiled eggs and lots of fruits and green vegetables and salads. White meat like fish and chicken made in little bit of olive oil / cornflower oil is good. If you don' t loose weight you could consider bariatric surgery. For more details read the health tips I have written on this website or send me a personal question.

Regular massaging of the scalp with lukewarm oil helps to stimulate the hair follicles. This is also an easy way to cure hair growth deterrents like dandruff and fungal infections. Regular massaging increases the blood circulation in the scalp. It is also useful for lowering anxiety or stress that is often the underlying reason for thinning of hair. Recommended oils for 3 to 4 times-a-week massaging schedule includes coconut oil. You can alternate this with mustard oil. Keep the oil on for at least six hours before washing it off with a mild shampoo. Other oils that can be mixed with coconut oil in trace amounts for faster results include almond oil.
