PCOS Symptoms And Treatment!

PCOS is a disorder characterized by enlarged ovaries and the formation of tiny cysts on the outer sides of the ovaries. The polycystic ovary is a hormonal condition that stimulates surplus production of androgen in women. Androgen being a" male hormone, causes the development of muscle mass and hair in men, and it has similar effects on women as well when present in high amount.

They trigger acne and excessive growth of body hair in women accompanied by irregular or lack of ovulation in the form of absent or erratic menstrual cycle. Hence, owing to troubles in ovulation (discharge of ovules from the ovaries), one may experience difficulties in getting pregnant.

Many women suffering from PCOS are unaffected by the influence of the hormone ‘insulin’, which indicates, that it requires a larger amount of insulin to sustain a normal blood sugar level. High levels of insulin as a result of insulin resistance, in turn drastically boosts androgen production.

Symptoms of PCOS include:

  • Irregular menstrual cycle. Women with PCOS may miss periods or have fewer periods (fewer than eight in a year). Or, their periods may come every 21 days or more often. Some women with PCOS stop having menstrual periods.
  • Excessive hair. Excessive hair on the face, chin, or parts of the body where men usually have hair. This is called" hirsutism" hirsutism affects up to 70% of women with PCOS. 3
  • Acne. Acne on the face, chest, and upper back
  • Hair loss. Thinning hair or hair loss on the scalp; male-pattern baldness
  • Weight gain. Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Skin darkening. Darkening of skin, particularly along neck creases, in the groin, and underneath breasts
  • Skin tags. Skin tags, which are small excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area

Treatment: 
Ayurveda and panchakarma treatments can work wonder in improving such health issues.

  • Reduction of weight can be done with udwartan therapy.
  • Vaman and virechan should be suggested as per the requirement of a patient and it helps in menses.
  • Internal medicines are tailor-made to improve the health of an individual.

I am 33 years old , weighing about 65 kg , height 5.2. Kindly suggest me some medicines to reduce my weight. Mostly my upper body is too heavy. I request to suggest me any ayurvedic medicine to reduce my breast size.

correct diet & lifestyle is what you require to shed off extra weight as medicines will spoil your health. Diet- avoid junk/ processed/canned/ ready to eat/ fried/ sugary foods, cold drinks, alcohol, havs small frequent meals at regular intervals, eat slowly chewing your food well, replace simple carbs- potato, sugar, sabudana, maida, noodles, cake, biscuit, white rice, white bread with complex carbs- whole fruits, salads, sabji, sprouts, brown rice, dalia, suji, oats, bajra, medua. Activity- practice kapalbhati daily for at least 1/2 hr along with toe touching & weights, take stairs instead of lift, do household chores, walk/ cycle instead of hiring transport

Can you please confirm is there any chance of pregnancy. If 2 days missed period. Then got 1 and half day bleeding. I did pregnancy test at the time of 3rd day when I missed period. It showing negative.

Dear user ,delayed menses some time may be due to hormonal imbalance wait for 3-4 days to get menses if urine pregnancy test is negative. If ,no bleeding then consult at least once to doctor personally.

Hello, You mean problems are there because of more weight? It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight! Go through the following guidelines and implement them in your routine: Management: 1: Drink plenty of water (at least 2-3 l/d) or other calorie-free beverages. 2: Be choosy about nighttime snacks. 3: Enjoy your favorite foods. 4: Have 6 meals per day - 3 main courses and 3 snack meals (snack meals should be healthy). 5: Do regular exercises daily (start with light and later may be little vigorous) . Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Preferably brisk walking, swimming, cycling, skipping. 6: Eat seasonal fruits. Fruit helps to satisfy your sweet tooth thanks to its natural sugars, while fresh vegetables help you fill up more quickly. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber to help you feel full quickly. 7: Eat more whole grains and cut simple carbs. Whole wheat bread, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato, and brown rice are all excellent sources of energy and sources of nutrition. 8: Choose lean proteins instead of fatty ones. 9: Cut the salt from your diet. Eating more sodium causes your body to retain water, which can cause you to feel bloated and gain more weight. 10: Don't skip meals.When you skip meals, your body stops breaking down fat and starts breaking down muscle tissue. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than other tissues, so you're actually working against your goals 11: Eat at home. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 12: Give yourself a treat now and then. If you're attending a party or going out for a special occasion, allow yourself an indulgence. Just make sure that these indulgences don't become daily habits. 13: Go for a health walk. Gear up yourself daily for a health walk which not only shed off your extra calorie, but also reduces the stress levels. 14: Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body! Medication: Start taking Schwabe's Phytolacca Berry tablets/ thrice daily 1/2 an hr before the meals for 1 month. Thereafter revert me back for further guidance. All the best!
