Itching during pregnancy is due to cholesatasis that is bile stagnation .This is due to more pregnancy hormones.Once she delivers she will be alright.Keep a watch on the fetal movements.Apply good moisturiser all over the body.Take shower in warm water .

Hello, Here are some tips to help you get rid of your problem: It is good to avoid fried, sour and protein rich foods in the last week of the menstrual cycle. Eat fish as it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which helps in easing contractions during menstruation Avoid eating dairy products, meat and poultry Maintain healthy and nutritious diet and perform yoga to help you stay away from problems If you are suffering from anemia, you should take food rich in iron Avoid vegetables like potato, eggplant, yellow pumpkin and try to concentrate on consuming drumsticks, papaya, white pumpkin, snake guard, cucumber and bitter guard When you experience pain, you can help reduce the pain by giving the area hot treatment. Drinking plenty of water and herbal tea also helps reduce pain and problems faced during menstrual periods. You can also perform yoga and some cardiovascular exercises that will help you get rid of these cramps. Last but not the least; take as much rest as possible. This will help you keep your menstruation under control. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Mag. Phos. 6x/ 5 tablets to be dissolved in ½ cup of water after every 2 hrly. Till the pain lasts.

Air Pollution - How to Protect Yourself?

MBBS, DNB, Diploma Dyslipidemia, CCEBDM, CCMTD

Air Pollution - How to Protect Yourself?

Most of us experience or suffer from some or the other side effects of air pollution in our lives. However, with the recent surge in the level of air pollution, the air quality has taken a plunge. The smog and particulates in the air cause multiple health problems.

So is there a way we can protect ourselves and our loved ones against this pollution?

Yes! Just by adopting these basic methods one can easily combat the ill effects of air pollution.

  1. Always cover your face with a handkerchief or mask. Tying a handkerchief on your face to cover your nostrils can provide some protection; although it is minimal. Respiratory masks, such as N-95 and P 100 provide advanced protection against air pollution.

  2. Use an air purifier inside the room as they help filter out suspended particulates which can cause breathing trouble, coughing, wheezing, sneezing and even trigger asthma attacks. Although they are slightly expensive, you can still consider them as a long term investment for the protection of your health.

  3. It is advisable to avoid areas with heavy traffic as the pollution level is high in such areas. Try and avoid using two-wheelers and autos, if not possible, two wheeler riders should wear proper mask and glasses, in order to protect their eyes.

  4. Keeping plants in your home is always advisable as they are the natural air purifiers, because they absorb carbon dioxide and also bring down the level of other poisonous gases.

  5. It is also advisable to clean the filters of your AC frequently, so that the air that is being circulated is clean and free of dust particles.

  6. Avoid smoking at this point of time, as at this point of time it is not just a health hazard, but also an environmental hazard.

  7. Consume foods, which are easy to digest and support your lungs in withstanding the effects of air pollution especially those foods which are rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A and C.

  8. Asthma patients, should keep their inhalers and medication close-by. It is very important to safeguard against asthma attacks triggered by pollutants.

One year is enough time. So, you and your wife should consult your gynaecologist to have some basic work up. There may be problem in the female or the male or the both. Even sometimes no problems may be found. But please remember, as you already have a son, your chance of having baby is quite good. And try to have regular physical relationship between 12-16 days of the menstrual period. All the best.

There is hardly any chance of pregnancy. Day 12-18 of a regular menstrual cycle are fertile, that means chances of getting pregnant are high. Sometimes its ok if there is a delay, coz there r so many causes of irregular menses like anaemia, stress, inadequate sleep etc. But if it on and off then you need a treatment.

First Menses - Important Things You Must Know!

Getting your periods for the very first time can be daunting. Especially if you have never been educated about it and you are far away from home and you have no clue about what is going on. The overbearing pain from stomach cramping does not make it any better. It is always good to be on the safe side and keep yourself educated about it.

What is your first period?
Periods are a very natural part of your life as a woman. It happens when the body of a girl undergoes changes and starts maturing into a woman. It happens when blood is expelled out of your uterus to set up your body for maturation and pregnancy. Since your body is transforming, you can get pregnant (and just before your first period as well).

Your period happens once per month and as a rule, lasts between 2-7 days, however, it might take a couple of months for your period to be consistent; the initial few might be light and sporadic. You may think that it is helpful to monitor your period every month, to see when it is expected and when it arrives.

Indications of period
Around the season of your first period, your body shape will get to be distinctly curvier, your hips and bosoms will enhance. You will likewise see more hair developing in new places, under your arms and around your vagina. These are all typical changes and a part of growing up.

What can be the questions which are frequently asked?
Q1 When will you get them?
A. A women hits puberty the age of 12. So you may expect it anytime between 12-16 years of age. Sometimes it is likely for you to get it prior to this age as well.

Q2 How long can it last?
A. Initially your periods may not be regular and it lasts from 5-12 days. But with age, your cycle is likely to get regular and it can get over within 3 days.

Q3 What to do when I get it?
A. Firstly, you must not panic. Go tell a teacher or a parent or any elderly and they will surely help you.

Q4 How do I manage it?
A. There are several options. You can either use sanitary napkins, menstrual cups or tampons.

Q5 Is it possible to exercise or go swimming?
A. Yes, absolutely. If you use hygiene products such as tampons or menstrual cups, you can normally do your activities.

Q6 Does it hurt?
A. Unfortunately, sometimes it does. This happens because the muscles in your uterus are cramping. It usually gets better from the 2nd day of your period. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Actually looking at your age Dr. has prescribed you pregnancy support pills, there is nothing wrong even if you take them till you complete 12 wks, alternatively you may discontinue if you may wish to post your Ultrasound and other routine antinatal tests if all reports are normal.

Frequency of intercourse should be 3-4 times a week for full one year to get pregnant. To find out ovulation date you can follow calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26days) minus18days=8th day. The longest cycle (31days) minus 10days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

First check whether she has put on weight recently. She should undergo ultrasonography. If normal, she can take hormonal treatment to regularise the cycle.
