I have pain and little swelling in my both knees.Dr advices me to take Folitrax 15mg once a wk and I started tacking med since 25thNov2014. I want to know is this type of Arthritis can get cured completely or I need to take med lifelong. I feel pain on the inner side of knee more than outer side and not able to fold my knee .It hurts.

Back pain at your age is most likely due to facet arthritis (arthritis of joints connecting adjacent vertebra in spine). This is age related degenerative disorder. You should consult a pain specialist for evaluation and diagnosis. This condition can be easily treated by injection into the facet joint in operation theatre. Meanwhile do the following for relief. 1. Take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen for 3 to 4 days. 2. Start back stretching and strengthening exercises once pain is decreased. 3. Avoid lifting weights. 4. Keep pillow behind knees at night time when sleeping. 5. Diet rich in calcium and vitamins. 6. Proper ergonomics at computer work. For further details consult again.

It may be meniscus injury. Take rest for few days. Apply ice pack 5 times daily for 10 minutes every time. You will need some medicines. Consult orthopaedic surgeon.

Advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction. Sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily bhujang asana x 15 timesx twice daily core strengthening exercises. Back stretching.

You have mentioned that you have difficulty in straightening of your leg after you sit for more than 15 minutes, is the pain around knee region which is causing difficulty in leg movements or is it in the whole leg? also are there any s/s of inflammation like skin redness, swelling, local warmth as well? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can consult orthopaedic surgeon for the best advice. Only medicines cannot cure knee pain. You will require knee support, avoid squatting, avoid cross-legged sitting, avoid sitting on sofa, use chair with side support.

Requires detailed investigation and examination Presently investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Hello lybrate user, get her x-ray of the knee joint in standing weight bearing position in anteroposterior and lateral projections. Mostly it is has osteoarthritis of the knee joint wherein the articular cartilage of the joint gets progressively degenerative. Common in old age and indian population use knee caps regular exercise hot water bag some natural medicines x-ray and her level of discomfort will dictate the management plan. God bless you.

-increase intake of barley flour, horse gram (a type of bean), split green gram, honey, celery seeds, cumin seeds, dried ginger root powder, garlic, bitter gourd and castor oil. -avoid eating fish and milk together or milk and jaggery together. -avoid incompatible, heavy, and oily foods. -avoid an improper diet and lifestyle, such as waking up late in the night, suppressing natural urges of the body, and getting direct exposure to cold winds.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, heel pain and your symptoms point towards possibility of heel spur (medically known as a calcaneal spur) treatment includes use of soft soles, warm water fomentation twice daily. And better to get calcium vitamin d 3 blood tests done.

Generally at this age there is deficiency of ca and vit Dand the knee joint start to degenerate. You should avoid stars and squatting . Take cal and vit D and do knee exercise

what are the size of the stones? stones treatment depends on the types and size of stone, most kidney stones won't require invasive procedures. You may be able to pass a small stone by: drinking water. Drinking as much as 2 to 3 quarts (1.9 to 2.8 liters) a day may help flush out your urinary system. Unless doctor tells you otherwise, drink enough fluid mostly water to produce clear or nearly clear urine. Passing a small stone can cause some discomfort.
