All About Uterine Prolapse

Your uterus is held in place by ligaments, tissues and pelvic muscles. The prolapse occurs when the ligaments or muscles weaken, and thus they can no longer support the uterus. The uterus slips or sags from its usual position into the birth canal (vagina).

Uterine prolapse could be complete or incomplete:

  • If the uterus partly sags into the vagina, the prolapse is incomplete.
  • If the uterus falls, and tissues are found to be resting in the vagina's exterior, the prolapse is termed 'complete'

Type of Prolapse:

  1. Cystocele: It is characterized by the herniation (bulging) of the vaginal wall caused by the bladder; it leads to urination problems
  2. Enterocele: It is characterized by the bulging on the vaginal wall caused by the bowel; it leads to backache
  3. Rectocele: If the rectum pushes into the vaginal wall, it makes movement in bowels difficult

Causes:
Uterine prolapse can be caused by any of the following factors:

  • Normal childbirth through the vagina weakens muscles
  • Pelvic muscles weaken with age
  • Tissues weaken after menopause and oestrogen loss
  • Chronic cough, constipation, pelvic tumours or abdominal fluid accumulation puts a lot of pressure on the abdomen leading to prolapse
  • Pelvic muscles are stressed if you are obese or overweight
  • Major pelvic (or areas around it) surgery leads to loss of muscular support
  • Smoking
  • Excessive weight lifting causes weakening of muscles

Symptoms:
Symptoms of uterine prolapse depend on its severity. There are no symptoms or signs if you have mild uterine prolapse. But if you have moderate to severe uterine prolapse, you might experience the following symptoms:

  1. Sensation of pulling or heaviness in the pelvis
  2. Tissue bulges out of your vagina
  3. Urinary problems like urine retention or urine leakage
  4. Bowel movement difficulties
  5. Pain in lower back
  6. Sexual problems such as vaginal tissues feeling loose

Symptoms might feel less distressing during the morning, but they worsen at night. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

1. Eat well – Take a balanced Diet comprising of 45% carbohydrate, 30% protein and 25% fat, plenty of green leafy vegetables, fruits. Don’t over eat. Avoid junk, spicy, oily, high calorie, cholesterol rich diet don’t skip your breakfast. Take warm, homemade food. Avoid food and drink from outside. Don’t skip or postpone your meal. Minimize consumption of refined grains like white rice, white bread, sugary or refined food. 2. Keep hydrated- Drink 2 liters /8-10 glasses of water daily 3. Do regular exercise for one hour daily like brisk walking/Jugging etc 4. Take adequate rest- 7-8 hours of sound sleep in the night is required to remain healthy 5. Avoid stress, anxiety, depression, agitation etc 6. Find time for relaxation and enjoyments with friends and family 7. Practice yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control emotion, improve concentration and relieve stress 8.Avoid smoking, consumptionof tobacco and Alcohol 8. Develop hobby, Learn new skill 9.Go for detail Annual Health check up.

Dear Lybrate user, It seems U r leading an irregular life style.. please. go for a walk in d morning. * take,plenty of water. * opt stair case in stead of a lift in your office if,possible, go for swimming,gardening . * cut your meal by 10%,& add salad,fruits, sprouts in lunch avoiding ghee. * Homoeo medicine * @ Fucus Vas Q- 20 drops with 2/2 cup of lukewarm water before each meal. * avoid,smoking,alcohol,late sitting on computer in d night. * ensure 6/7 hrs of sound sleep. please,report,fortnightly.

Hi Thank you for posting your query I understand your concern But in your case first the acne should be treated and then the marks otherwise every time a new acne might leave a mark Treatment of acne depends on the type of acne you are suffering from There are 1) comedones like which appear like blackheads these can be treated with creams containing BPO or topical retinoids 2) pus containing acne which require antibiotics tablet and creams 3) big module type which require a long course of oral retinoids You should use a sunscreen and a gentle cleanser to wash face along with these A proper and regular course of medicine will help you in getting a clear face Hope this helps In case you have further query you can consult me

Hi make a paste of neem leaves and apply on the targeted pimples. If you cannot get fresh neem leaves, try to get some dried bottled neem leaves, steep for 10 minutes in warm water and use as a paste. Apply pranacharya face glow on your face for 15 minutes then wash it with warm water.

For prevention from greying of hairs follow these instructions: • Do not take stress and take proper sleep of 6 - 7 hours. Do meditation or long breathing pranayams for 10 minutes daily to destress yourself. • You can apply amla powder, Make the paste of amla powder with water and apply it for 15 minutes once in week in afternoon and rinse it. • Avoid use of excess hair products such as hair colours and try to use mild shampoo. • Add protein containing items in your foods such as take a bowl of cereal daily, and a glass of milk also. You can eat cheese or soya protein. • Eat healthy fruits and green leafy vegetables daily. • you can use mahabhringraj oil and apply it 3 times in a week massage your scalp for 10 to 15 minutes daily. You can massage daily with oil it increase blood circulation and prevent hair from greying. • Avoid the use of products such as hair colours or excessive shampoo. •In a bowl, mix two eggs, honey and some coconut oil. You can also use olive oil instead of coconut oil. Apply it on your scalp and leave it for 20 minutes, then rinse with a mild shampoo.

I am 52 yes old having back pain at right side and front ribs since. 7 days. There is reddish mark at front and back. What I should do?

Backache is the commonest ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Before washing your hair, apply the juice extracted from crushed coriander (dhania) leaves. You can also use a mixture of curd and gram flour (chana atta) that should be kept-on for at least an hour before bathing.
