Hi lybrate-user. Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease, which means once it starts it will recur again and again once in a few months, especially in winters. The disease cannot be completely cured with medicines. It can only be controlled with creams and ointments and some oral tablets whenever it occurs. Therefore you have to be patient. Consult a Dermatologist and follow up regularly and follow his/her advice. Pimples are a common problem in many individuals. They can be easily controlled with creams. Avoid over the counter creams and fairness creams as they may aggravate pimples. Also avoid applying oil to the scalp. Wash your face with mild cleanser 2 to 3 times a day.

Ways To Treat Hyperpigmentation And Hypopigmentation!

MBBS, Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL), Fellowship in medical cosmetology

Ways To Treat Hyperpigmentation And Hypopigmentation!

The term pigmentation generally has to do with the colour of something. So, in the case of people, it refers to the colour of their skin. So what is exactly hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation? How should a person go about dealing with conditions such as these?

Melanin is a chemical, which provides the skin with its colour. In case of hyperpigmentation, what occurs is that the amount of melanin in the skin increases beyond normal. Now the reasons for this are quite diverse, to say the very least. As a matter of fact, pregnancy could be a cause, as could medications such as antibiotics or antimalarial medicines (medicines to fight off malaria). Addison’s disease could also be a cause.

On the other hand, hypopigmentation refers to the situation in which the amount of melanin in the skin falls below what it should be, under normal circumstances. While there are quite a few causes for this, the primary culprits happen to be burns or injuries. In certain cases, a person may have the sort of situation which occurs in the case of hypopigmentation as a result of having another condition. This generally happens in cases of albinism or vitiligo, which have affected the skin.

So, what is to be done if a person has hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation?

After all, while this may be the issue  of the skin, the impact they have on a person’s self-confidence are more than just skin deep! With hyperpigmentation, exposure to sunlight directly should be limited to a great extent as possible. If there is going to be some sort of exposure, it is important to use adequate amount of sunscreen so that the impact on the skin is reduced. The sunscreen should surely contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. The reason for this is the fact that UV rays are blocked by these two chemicals. This is quite a good thing, considering these rays are the ones which can cause the most damage to skin with hyperpigmentation.

When it comes to hypopigmentation, conditions such as vitiligo or albinism do not have cures. So, they can only be managed to the best extent that is possible. Cosmetics can be used in order to improve the appearance of the person. In addition to this, sunscreen should be used in this case due to the risk that exposure to the sun might affect a person who has hypopigmentation. While this occurs in all sorts of people, it is especially seen in people of Caucasian descent. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist and ask a free question.

Having dark circles around my eyes and black patches. Is there a way to remove them? Looking for ayurvedic or homeopa...
Hello, Common reasons for dark circle are aging, genetics, nutritional deficiency (of vitamin A, C, K, E), sleep deprivation, worm-infestation, anemia, smoking & drinking, dehydration, sun exposure, allergies, stress/ tension and hormonal changes. Dark circles are linked to anemia, and liver diseases. So, in case of dark circles which are there due to some underlying cause can be get rid rid of once the causative factor is rectified. But the dark circles which are inherited from our genes can't be removed completely, to some extent can make slightly better. Diet and Management: Always take a balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetable, dairy products and all types of fruits to keep your body healthy. It is advisable to have at least 10-12 glasses of water and include fresh fruit daily. It is also advisable to restrict the intake of caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee, alcohol and other caffeinated drinks as it aggravates dehydration. Take enough of 6-8 hrs. Of sleep. Avoid taking stress/ tension. Do daily exercising regularly as it increases oxygen carrying capacity of the cells and tissues. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines – Schwabe's Cina 1M/ one dose at night for 10 days; Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. - both twice daily for 20 days. Revert me there after.

Hair growth on breast and nipples and my chin. The hair is coarse and thick. Is it normal?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Hair growth on breast and nipples and my chin. The hair is coarse and thick. Is it normal?
Similar to underarm hair and hair on one’s hands, legs and genitalia, the nipples (or areolar) also have hair follicles, both in males and female. Normally in females, the hair is usually fine and hardly visible, but some may have hair that is longer and thicker. Usually it is a normal condition and does not require any treatment. That being said, there some other conditions that could precipitate this unusual growth of hair • Hormonal fluctuations: This usually happens around puberty, menopause and pregnancy. • Patients have recently started taking oral contraceptive pills or any other kind of hormonal medication or hormone replacement therapy. • Women with a darker complexion also tend to have this problem. • There are some medical conditions that can lead to this condition as well. Conditions like PCOD and complex ovarian cysts. • In some cases a person (man or woman) might have excessive hair all over their body (on their chest, hands and face). This condition is called Hirsuitism. There is a treatment: In cases where the condition is inane and does not have any underlying medical conditions you can opt to trim or pluck the hair. It is best you avoid shaving, waxing or bleaching the hair around your breasts as this is a very sensitive area and prone to damage. If an underlying medical condition is the reason for the hair around your nipples, you should immediately get it investigated and get treatment to treat the root of the problem – as a result the excessive hair will disappear.Myself Is a Homoeopathic physicain and please give me the detail regarding development of your hairs around nipple so that homoopathic treatment be given accordingly.
