What is Social Anxiety Phobia? + It's Causes

What is Social Anxiety Phobia? + It's Causes

Social anxiety disorder is a chronic mental health condition in which a person has excessive and unreasonable fear of certain social situations. Anxiety and self-consciousness arise from a fear of being scrutinized, embarrassed or judged by others. The fear may be made worse by a lack of social skills or experience in social situations. This persistent anxiety can build into a panic attack, and the affected person may start avoiding social situations under extreme distress. People with social anxiety disorder also suffer anticipatory anxiety, which is the fear of a situation even before it happens. In many cases, the person is aware that the fear is unreasonable and overblown, yet is unable to overcome it.

Like many other mental health conditions, social anxiety disorder arises from a complex interaction of environment and genes. The possible causes are:

  • Inherited traits - Genetic factors may contribute to the development of social anxiety disorder if it is present in a first-degree relative (parents, siblings or child).
  • Brain structure - Nuclei shaped part of the brain called amygdala may play a role in controlling the fear response. People with overactive amygdala may have a heightened fear response, increasing anxiety in social situations.
  • Environmental factors - Social anxiety disorder may be a learned behavior. You may develop the condition after witnessing the anxious behavior of others. Also, there may be an association between social anxiety disorder and overprotective parents wanting to control their children.

Social anxiety disorder is the second most common type of anxiety disorder, which most often surfaces in adolescence or early adulthood. It is more common in women than in men. There is no way to predict what will cause social anxiety disorder, but some steps can be taken to reduce the impact of symptoms by getting help early instead of delaying, managing stress in daily life and avoiding unhealthy substances like alcohol, drugs and caffeine.

I want to quite smoke. But iam not able to do this. Please help me to live as non smoker.

Habitual smoking or chain smoking increases the Tar content in our lungs thus decreasing our lungs Air spaces called Alveolar sacs.Due to this decrease in air spaces,we cant exert much as our lungs cant carry more volumes of air due to decreased lung spaces. This leads to shortness of breath when we exert thus loosing our stamina. So to increase stamina, the first and foremost thing a chain smoker should do is ti quit smoking cigrattes and start doing morning cardio exercises or breathing exercises to increase lung spaces. It sounds very easy but my friend it is not that easy as it requires a lot of Determination and will power because you will have to face a lot of challenges while quitting this habit and you must have to be head strong.Once you quit your smoking habit, the things will automatically becomes easy for you. Homoeopathic medicine DAPHNE INDICA 1X( Wilmar Schwabe India) Chew 2 tab 3 times daily AVENA SATIVA Q ( Dr RECKEWEG) Drink 20 drops in 20 ml fresh water twice daily To start with start early morning Brisk walking for 30 minutes and breathing deep while walking. The treatment of depression usually remits in6-9 months and than medicines can be discontinued gradually. But compliance need to be taken care of. If again the problems comes than usually the course goes for next two yrs and still recurrent depression is there than the medicines have to be continued for next 5 yr to life time varying person to person.

About a year ago i had a breakup, since then i have been suffering from depression, or so I presume, i have consulted counselors, tried everything possible to feel better, right from going out with friends, to eating healthy, taking adequate amount of sleep and whatever I could possibly do, however, i somehow have not been able to cope up with this,i still feel very low, i get zoned out, do not feel like doing anything, i just have developed a very gloomy attitude towards life. Please Help!

It is then established that this breakup was the cause. And you have tried most of what we would recommend to get out of this state. So, I won?t waste time on those considerations. I am going to wager a guess, and if I am completely off the mark, kindly excuse me. However, you can write again and clarify where I have gone wrong. So, here goes: I think that you may have had a poor relationship with your primary caretaker (your mom and sometimes father, though the later happens at a little later age) in early childhood and you are suffering from some dependency issues, which will concern trust, and acceptance needs. As a result you may have gotten into a symbiosis with your boyfriend trying to re-establish that failed relationship, somehow looking to resolve it. It won?t work because it is the wrong person and the relationship is based on a romantic one, with completely different agendas. If the other person is in the know of this need, he may perhaps help you fulfill that need but it will still have some major drawbacks in the actual working out of it. In that case, you will inadvertently become too clingy, controlling, demanding and tend to act in a regressed manner or even act with silly behaviors. Makes any sense? If this does, go and meet with a counselor and work out these unresolved childhood needs before venturing into a romantic relationship.

How to get reduce from frustration and stress? If a man want to successful with his dream then what to do?

How to get reduce from frustration and stress? If a man want to successful with his dream then what to do?
He has to do meditation an yoga and get mind control and work to get his aims. Frustration and anger are fundamental emotions that everyone experiences from time to time. From a very early age, people learn to express frustration by copying the behaviour they see modelled around them, and by expressing frustration and angry behaviour and seeing what they can get away with. We all suffer from frustration, and being able to effectively deal with frustration is a very important skill to develop. Each person needs to learn how to control frustration, so that it does not control them. The following is a brief overview of types of frustration management programs and resources that have proved helpful in understanding and controlling frustration and anger. I have found several approaches to treatment that have been effective for my clients including: individual and group therapy for anger management. A therapist who can observe and analyse your behaviour from an impartial perspective, can help you with your reality testing. A therapist knows many effective frustration and anger management strategies and will be able to help you develop a personalized set of strategies for changing both your thinking and behaviour. Depending on your needs, your therapist may work with you on breathing or meditation exercises to reduce frustration, safe and appropriate emotional and physical techniques to release frustration, communication, or cognitive restructuring (a method for disputing and changing the way you think). Relaxation and exercise simple relaxation tools such as deep breathing and relaxing imagery can help calm down feelings of frustration and anger. Breathing deeply, from your diaphragm, will help while breathing from your chest won't relax you. While breathing, you can slowly repeat a calm word or phrase such as" relax" calm down" or" take it easy. Non-strenuous exercise, like yoga, can relax your muscles and make you feel much calmer. Strenuous and vigorous exercise can also help you to work off frustration and angry feelings. Frustration can have a highly damaging impact on our frame of mind. It can turn a positive person into a person who sees nearly everything as a problem. It can slow you down, inhibit your progress, and at times completely immobilize you. We can become so wound up with our frustration that we do not, and cannot, think or act rationally. Our frustration can often exacerbate a situation and create a vicious circle. If we are convinced that our actions are not working, no matter how hard we try, we are much more likely to reduce, rather than increase, our chances of success. Remember, you cannot eliminate frustration. In spite of all your efforts, things will happen that will cause you frustration and anger. Life is filled with frustration, pain, loss, and the unpredictable actions of others. You can't change that; but you can change the way you let such events affect you. If you feel that your degree of frustration is really out of control, if it is having an impact on your relationships and on important parts of your life, you might consider counselling to learn how to handle it better. Please contact me privately on this site or another therapist.

I masturbate once a month and I hardly eat anything (no spicy) and yet I get pre cum early in the morning and all the...
Dear lybrate user...What I understand from your question is that you masturbate once a month but still you are having ejaculation early in the morning. As per the normal body physiology, formation of sperms and ejaculate in the body is a continuous process and there is a limit to storage in the body. Once the amount of semen exceeds the limit, it is ejaculated out and it happens whenever there is some erotic stimulation which can be by sight or smell or touch or by any of our senses. Masturbation once a month is just not enough to get rid of the amount that is formed in a month in the body and thus early in the morning when the REM sleep that is the shallow sleep is more, a person gets erection in dreams and may ejaculate. So my advice to you would be that either you get rid of it voluntarily or just take a chill pill and relax and let the body do it for you. You do not need to worry but just accept. Although still if you want than there are medications which may help you deal with your problem. Take care
