1. Go for fasting once a week. You can go for absolute fasting or rely on a liquid diet to digest ama (toxin). Fasting should be followed by hot fomentation or by taking a bath with lukewarm water or steam bath. 2. After fasting and fomentation, mix powdered long pepper, black pepper and dried ginger in equal quantities and take 1 teaspoon of this powdered mix with lukewarm water twice a day. This will help you restore your digestive fire. 3. Take one tablespoon of castor oil before going to bed, once or twice a week. It helps in cleansing ama (toxin) build up and balancing vata. 4. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening. 5. For dry fomentation of the affected joints, take a cloth and fold it into four, fill it with hot and sand make a potli (bag) out of it. Use this bundle for the fomentation of different joints. This is very helpful in reducing pain and swelling.

Brush your teeth twice daily but this is not sufficient it is must to massage your gums after brushing and after each meals. As gums are living tissue when you massage your gums the blood circulation improves and the adoption to teeth becomes better and also soft food remnants which has penetrated after having meals would come out this will not let bacteria growth and prevent gums from inflammation otherwise the food remnants which continues to build up the deposit called plaque which can lead to gingivitis later advance to periodontis wherein the inner supporting bone is destroyed by bacterial deposit surrounding the gum and bone thus weakening the teeth. This bones are shockabsorber as in vehicle's they take up the pressure of chewing food. As you do service to your vehicles similarly this is a daily service in your mouth thus massage your gums after brushing and after each meals you will never have bleeding gums or any kind of chronic infection around gums and teeth, thus teeth remains stronger may be life long. Good oral hygiene means maintains good overall health and keeps your other systemic disease undercontrol.

No angiography will not lead to obesity usually I would let wise you to get yourself evaluated for hormonal imbalance specially thyroid function and get a dietitians advice to put some light on the reason for your obesity.

Hi I will prescribe some harmless but effective flower remedy available in homoeopathy shops. Try to buy original medicines. Hello lybrate-user, the periods for any woman can range between 2 days to 8 days. The number of days of bleeding depends on many factors. With increasing age also sometimes the bleeding quantity may reduce. So do not worry. 2--3 days is fine.

Papaya being the best. Then comes citrus fruits such as oranges, lemon, all juicy fruits. And if possible take half spoon of aloe vera raw juice in morning on empty stomach. Aloe vera works the best for skin glow and helps in purifying our blood too.

I know that drinking more water is good for health. But when? Immediately After food? Before going to bed? Soon after waking up in the morning?

Ideally early morning drinking water should be taken before brushing your teeth. You should drink atleast 4 glass of water. When you start with drinking water you may not able to drink 4 glasses. Then after sometime brush and clean your mouth. Avoid eating anything for 30-40 minutes. Initially you will find difficulty in drinking 4 glasses so start with 2 glasses and the progress to atleast 4 glasses. If possible you can drink some warm water also. Drinking of water empty stomach is really beneficial as it eliminate toxins and all substances that our body does not need. It has several benefits like maintain the elasticity and tonicity of the skin, prevent constipation, helps in maintaining blood pressure, headache, diarrhea, vision problems, diabetes, tb, heart problems etc etc. There are several other benefits. So start drinking water and make yourself fit and healthy. It has been found men should take minimum 3.2 (10-14 cups) litres of water in a day and women should take 2.5 (8-9 cups) litres a day. Drinking water immediately after food should be avoided. Take a gap of half n hour to 45 minutes and then drink. However I would recommend you to keep a reminder on your mobile for drinking water for every one hour as it will keep you healthy and hydrated. I myself has placed a reminder. Believe me it really works. Good luck and be healthy.

Hello Dietitian, I would like to know a best dite chart to loose my weight. I weigh 147 Kgs and now I have woke up and started Gym work outs like only cardio exercise for almost 2 hours a day. But I want a good dite chart and if anyone can please help me, I would really be thankful. I also like to know if I can take these weight loss drinks (Nutrilife etc) to loose weight and is it healthy and do they cause any side effects. Because I am curious that people who are selling it tells me that I can loose 15 Kgs in 25 days the max. Looking forward for a reply. Regards D.

Hello sir it's really appreciable that you are alarmed and doing cardio exercise for the same. You need to understand the concept of weight loss. Ideally it's a slow process. It requires cut down in calories (under the guidance of dietitian) along with exercises which you are already doing. Include green tea, lemon water, salad vegetables like cabbage, carrot, cucumber, kakri, tomato etc, seasonal fruits, whole cereals. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Don't skip breakfast. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Avoid carbonated drinks, fried foods, sweets and processed foods. Drink plenty of water.

In order to know the benefits of abhangya, it is important to understand what exactly abhangya is. We do, at times, massage ourselves unconsciously. However, the practice of massaging oneself from head to toe with nice and warm oil lovingly is known as abhangya. According to Ayurveda, like being loved by another person, abhangya too provides individuals with a deep sense of stability. Ayurveda states that daily practice of abhangya helps in restoring the balance between the three doshas of our body - the pitta dosha, kapha dosha and vata dosha.

Ayurveda states that the individuals who practice this self massage technique regularly become vey less affected and even less subjected to accidental injuries. These individuals also tend to become charming and very less affected by age. Now that we have discussed a bit of what abhangya is, here is a list of the benefits that come with it. 

  1. This self massage technique helps in nourishing the body and slowing down the ageing process considerably.
  2. This technique helps is bestowing individuals with good vision.
  3. This process helps in stimulating the internal body organs and increases and improves blood circulation. This results in lesser blood pressure and a healthier body.
  4. This technique helps in imparting a sort of firmness to the limbs and hands, thereby strengthening the body’s tolerance.
  5. This technique also benefits the skin. Well, the thing about our body is each organ in our body is interrelated with each other. So when any one organ starts working perfectly, everything else follows suit. It has been seen that this technique helps impart a sort of tone and vigour to the tissues of the body itself.
  6. Abhangya helps pacify the vata and the pitta doshas.
  7. If applied to the scalp, it helps in growing luxurious, soft, thick and really glossy hair.
  8. This is also said to reduce wrinkles on the face.
  9. When applied to the ears, stiffness of neck and jaw can be eased.

We have discussed how this practice benefits us, but here are some of the situations when we aren’t supposed to perform abhangya.

  1. During menstrual cycle
  2. During pregnancy
  3. In swollen or painful areas
  4. Over skin that has any sort of rash or infection
  5. During any acute illnesses
  6. During any health condition until and unless the doctor said that it was perfectly fine to do abhangya

Write lipid complete lipid profile and medicine you r taking. Do following 1. No alcohol 2. Reduce body wt 3. No smoking 4. Diet - no ghee/ butter, have mix of vegetable oils - mustard, til, ground nut, olive oil, have more green vegetables and fruits, have whole grain atta, no fried. Fast. Spicy / processed/ junk food. Less sugar, potato, rice 5.30 mts walk daily 6. Deep breathing exercise for 10 mts daily 7. Meditation daily for 10 mts 8. Expose your body to sun for 15-20 mts daily after some oil massage to get vit d. Try for 30 days and repeat test for medicine contact on private chat with complete blood reports and your problems good luck.

Your endocrinologist would be able to tell you the dosage. Thyroid causes only 10-15 % weight gain. Do not leave medication or increase the dosage on your own. Good nutrition and regular physical activity needs to be incorporated in your daily lifestyle so that you can lose weight. Avoid the consumption of simple carbs like maida, white bread. Have whole grains like Roti, brown rice, Oats. Reduce the intake of oils. Include atleast 3 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruits in your daily diet. Have small portions at regular intervals. Target 30-45 minutes of brisk walk 4-5 times a week. Restrict the salt intake as excess can lead to water retention. Have 8-12 glasses of water everyday.
