Dr. Now days I face a problem of sensitivity in mu teeth so what can I do for remove this problem please solve it.
teeth sensitivity is a result of loss of outer most layer(enamel) of teeth..that can be due to : - Tooth grinding - Acidic beverages (such as soda) that cause enamel erosion and dentin exposure. - Brushing with a very abrasive toothpaste, brushing incorrectly and/or brushing more than three times a day could result in a loss of enamel. - A chipped or fractured tooth may expose the dentin.  here are few steps to avoid sensitivity of teeth: - Practice good oral hygiene. - Use a sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne. - Don't brush too hard. - Use a softer toothbrush. - Take care while consuming acidic foods. - Use fluoridated dental products. - Avoid grinding your teeth. - See your dentist regularly for professional tooth cleaning, dental care recommendations and advice on treating your sensitive teeth.

Quick Facts about TOOTH Sensitivity:
? Tooth sensitivity is the pain you may feel when you eat or drink hot or cold foods or drinks.
? Sensitivity happens when gums pull away from the teeth or when gum tissue is lost. This exposes the tooth root area below the gum line ,resulting in sensitivity.
? USE a toothbrush with soft bristles to avoid hurting your gums and teeth.
? You can also ask your dentist about special toothpastes for sensitive teeth.

Respiratory tract infections? sore throat, swollen lymph nodes (" swollen glands") in the neck, fever, stuffy nose, a greenish or yellowish nasal discharge, a mucus-producing cough external agents? cigarette stains on fingers and teeth, a uniform yellow" coffee stain" on teeth dry mouth? difficulty swallowing dry foods, difficulty speaking for a prolonged period because of mouth dryness, a burning sensation in the mouth, an unusually high number of dental caries, dry eyes (in sjgren's syndrome) systemic (bodywide) illnesses? symptoms of diabetes, lung disease, kidney failure or liver disease.

The bacterial film called “plaque” that occurs naturally in your mouth can build up if not removed regularly through good oral hygiene practices. The bacteria in plaque give off an odour that affects your breath. Diet is a common bad breath culprit. Foods such as garlic and onions, in particular, can foul your breath

My one of the teeth is paining and that teeth is become black. I didn't eat properly what I should do?

My one of the teeth is paining and that teeth is become black. I didn't eat properly what I should do?
Pain in teeth clearly suggests caries or cavities in local language. Visit your dentist, he will take an x-ray and determine the current status of your affected tooth. If the extent of caries is not extending to the pulp (vital part of the tooth), he will suggest you to go for restoration (filling). If the extent of caries is upto the pulp you have to go for root canal treatment. X-ray and visual examinations will be helpful in suggesting you a treatment.

Is it necessary to go for root canal if you have 20% cavity on jaw tooth or filling would be enough.

Is it necessary to go for root canal if you have 20% cavity on jaw tooth or filling would be enough.
Treatment dental pain teeth pain may be due to various reasons like infection, sensitivity or trauma. If your teeth is decayed it is better to get it filled or treated by a dentist. If you are opting for root canal treatment do not forget to get a crown on the effected tooth. If you want to go for only medicinal treatment so let me tell you only medicine are not going to be very effective untill you get this treated by a dentist.

Your present condition (OSMF )is relatively progressed to a stage where mouth exercises and medicines or intra oral steroid injections will not repair or bring the situation back to normal. Good news is its curable with surgical intervention and the best results obtained is from laser surgery. For oral pain you can apply dologel or hiora-sg gel. For more detail you can connect with us. THANK YOU.

How Soda Affects Your Teeth

Drinks such as regular soda, diet soda, sports drinks, canned iced tea and lemonades can lead to extensive tooth decay, enamel destruction and poor dental health because of the low pH or acidity of the drinks.

Enamel is the hardest substance in the body but it is susceptible to breakdown from acids found in soda/drinks. The more acidic the drink (the lower its pH), the more rapid the enamel destruction. Tooth enamel dissolves below 5.5. It is important to note that exposed root surfaces demineralize twice as fast as that of enamel.
Soda/drinks may contain carbonic, phosphoric, malic, citric and tartaric acids and therefore have an acidic pH. No differences in enamel breakdown were found between regular and diet versions of the same brand.

Reduce the Risk
1 Drink carbonated beverages (soft drinks, soda pop) in moderation.
2 Give infants and toddlers these beverages in a regular cup.
3 Sucking on a bottle or sippy cup filled with these beverages promotes tooth decay.
4 Use a straw to help keep sugar away from your teeth while drinking.
5 Choose fluoridated water instead of fizzy drinks.
6 Avoid drinking soft drinks and fruit juice before bedtime.
7 Rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth soon after using either of these.
8 Get regular dental checkups and cleanings

Do You Grind Your Teeth?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Do You Grind Your Teeth?

Do you often wake up with a dullheadache or a sore jaw?
Do you sometimes find yourself clenching your teeth?

Until you experience pain or have a dental checkup, you may not realize that you have a condition called 'bruxism', a habit of grinding or clenching the teeth. Many people are unaware that they grind their teeth because they do it while they sleep. Bruxism often occurs in the early part of the night and can disturb sleep partners. The clenching and grinding may be quite audible. Others make no sound while bruxing their teeth and do not realize they are doing it until the dentist discovers unusual wear spots on their teeth. Bruxism may be mild and occasional or aggressive and frequent.

If you suspect you are having too much wear of teeth or have a dull ache in the morning, you may require timely intervention to avoid any damage to your teeth and jaw joints.

Hello Lybrate user, Narrow lower jaw leads to malocclusion creating less space for teeth which develop crowding and less space for tongue so tongue touches lower teeth .you can go for orthodontic treatment to correct this problem permanently.
