Hi Dr. My father suffiring from knee pain and swelling his age is 56yr. He has not any problem in walking. He has done x-ray and all report but all are normal and consult with Dr. He says every thing fine suggest some excercise. Bus before two month consult with another Dr. He says his knees not working properly and he has to go for sugery. While his x-ray reprot is normal and no problem in walking. Please give me adwise.

Hello if there is not much problem in walking and as you say x-ray report are normal, I suggest you to start physiotherapy treatment. Meanwhile. Suggestions for the application of ice and heat ice is an effective and natural pain killer and anti-inflammatory. Whenever you experience swelling, redness or sharp / stabbing pain it is generally considered best to apply ice. Repeat until symptoms ease? usually for 24? 48 hours. Following this you should alternate with ice and heat. If in doubt, contact your physiotherapist. Application place ice cubes in a plastic bag or use a professionally prepared ice pack. Place a damp face washer or tea towel over the problem area then place the ice pack on the material covering. The first application should be as follows:- 10 minutes on 10 minutes off 10 minutes on 10 minutes off 10 minutes on then during waking hours, apply the ice pack every 2 hours, or as indicated by your physiotherapist. As the inflammation reduces, it is often beneficial to apply heat between ice. 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat heat is an effective therapy for reducing muscular tension and pain and is best used after the initial inflammation has subsided. N. B. If you do not have ice immediately available, then use a pack of frozen peas or similar item. Do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.

If you have long sitting job on computer then you should follow office ergonomics. Also get done your x ray n blood profile. Avoid forward bending and weigth lifting. Visit to the physiotherapist near by.

Leg exercise kijiye I hope you will fit and fine…………………………………….Resistance Band Hamstring Curls Begin this leg exercise lying on your front with a resistance band tied around your ankle. Slowly bend your knee tightening the muscles at the back of your thigh (hamstrings). Then slowly return to the starting position maintaining good control throughout the exercise. Perform 1 - 3 sets of 10 repetitions on each leg provided the exercise is pain free.

I am 45 years, feeling very tired in the morning, also I feel pain into my knees. I am a professor, some times I have to take classes standing long duration. Please help.

Take honey with cinnamon powder on the empty stomach in the morning. Eat lot of fruits and salads. Do not skip breakfast. Chew well before swallowing. If possible do some meditation or simply close your eyes for sometime. This will improve your condition. My dad had cervical laminectomy 8 months ago. Now from 6-7 days, his full back is stiff in the morning with pain. Stiffness goes away after 2 hours. This is a general low back ache and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists you can stretch your body by twisting the waist on both sides how we used to do in the school drill similarly you can try which will help you relax as well will reduce the pain. It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain.If you have low back pain and sciatica you can undergo intermittent pelvic traction where in your half of your body weight will be added in the electronic traction so that that would help you to reduce the pain, along with Interfrential therapy stimulations which would help you to get relieved from the radiating pain. Apply ice for the pain to get subsided immediately. If you cannot go immediately for the physiotherapy treatment. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.
