Throwing requires more strength and usually leads to pain if one uses too much force. Try stretching and warm up prior to the game. Also start with shoulder exercises to strengthen them: Forwards flexion exercise Abduction exercise Rotator cuff strengthening

Your doctor is right about many things but I recommend that you meet with a counselor too. That person will teach you a lot of skills and techniques to deal with yoru problem along with the help of the medication. Anxiety has all to do with fear and your inability (or so you would tend to think) to handle the same. Fear is based on looking too much into the future and imagining things that usually do not tend to happen (usually 90% of your fears will not happen). You need to change your perception of the fearful stimulus then you can change your response to the fear. The first one is the best and will preempt the need for the second. If you are already far gone into the reaction mode, then you need both responses to counter the attack. The way we see things in life (like half empty or half full glass) is very dependent on our attitude. Attitude may have developed over many years but fortunately can change in a matter of sustained choices made and acted up on now. Accordingly you choose to see things as either threatening or as an opportunity. The opportunist will be positive and work with the situation to make good out of it. The individual who sees it as threatening, will, out of fear, try to avoid/run away from the situation or react with anxiety. Yes, self-belief does impact it too, but you can see that prior to that, perception will tarnish the belief system too. Here, you can see that all the resolution lies in just changing your perception/attitude, even if it is against odds. Changing your response, despite the perception, is building up of your reserves and resources to handle any contingency that life throws up at you. And life throws up situations quite regularly and heavily. For this you need to develop a fit mind and body: The former, by meditation and mind exercises; and the later, by exercises and proper diet. You need good sleep too. Included in the development of the mind is the handling of emotions, in your case, fear. These changes will give you a handle on life and your perceptions and responses. Prayer is really powerful, if you are a spiritual person. Repeat some personally framed affirmations that are geared to calming you down and building confidence. Do a personality course too. Anything that develops you personally will be of great assistance in building resilience.

When leg pain occurs after strenuous physical activity, you can simply apply cold compresses. This will help reduce the pain by numbing the affected area and control swelling and inflammation. 1. Wrap a few ice cubes (or a bag of frozen peas) in a thin towel. 2. Apply this pack on the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes, while keeping the leg (s) elevated. 3. Do this a few times a day. Note: do not apply ice directly on the skin, as it may cause frostbite. Also take mag phos 6x - twice daily. Consult me for homeopathic treatment. Recommend me by clicking on recommend option and leave feedback.

Fruits, vegetables, beans, and grains are excellent sources of fiber and phytonutrients. Fiber helps you feel full for a longer period of time. Phytonutrients are natural components found in plant-based foods that give plants their rich pigments, as well as their distinctive taste and smell. There are thousands of phytonutrients that may strengthen the immune system, help prevent cancer, and provide other health benefits, including promotion of cancer survivorship. Healthy fats, such as olive, flax, and canola, are very good for your heart health, and good sources of additional calories. Nuts and seeds are also sources of healthy fats. Your goal is to aim for 5-10 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables, and about five servings of grains every day. One serving is equal to: 1 cup leafy greens, berries or melon chunks 1/2 cup for all other fruits and vegetables 1 medium fruit/vegetable (i. E. Apple, orange) 1/4 cup dried fruit 3/4 cup juice here are some suggestions for a menu: breakfast (choose one from each of the following three options) 1 cup cereal/1 whole wheat bagel/1 whole wheat toast 1 cup lowfat milk/1 cup lowfat plain yogurt/1 tbsp light cream cheese 1/2 pink grapefruit/1 small pear/ 1 small apple/1/2 box raisins snacks 1-2 graham crackers with 2 tbsp peanut butter 10 kashi tlc crackers with 1 string cheese 10 medium grapes 1 cup popcorn, air popped 10 almonds kashi 7 grain bar fluids (at least eight 8-ounce cups per day) choose mostly water; sparingly opt for 100% juice (cranberry, apple, orange). Dinner meat: choose mostly chicken and turkey, baked or broiled fish: baked or grilled is best salad: every time you make a green salad, add about 1 tbsp of a healthy oil: olive, flax, canola; sprinkle about 1 tbsp of sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds vegetables: fresh or frozen, steamed or stir-fried with canola oil.

Fibromyalgia Pain - Can Massage Therapy Reduce It?

Fibromyalgia Pain - Can Massage Therapy Reduce It?

Aches and pains are typical signs of fatigue, but sometimes these aches are constant and can affect your day to day life. Fibromyalgia is not a disease, but a syndrome that affects the muscles and soft tissues of the body leading to chronic pain, tiredness and insomnia among other symptoms. Though this syndrome cannot be cured, it is not life-threatening and can be managed without causing permanent damage. One of the ways to manage fibromyalgia is through massage therapy.

  1. Massage therapy is one of the oldest forms of healthcare. It aims to improve circulation thereby, improving the flow of nutrients through the body and aiding in the elimination of waste material. When it comes to fibromyalgia patients, a massage not only calms tired muscles but also reduces heart rate, improves the range of motions possible in joints and increases the body’s production of natural painkillers.
  2. Most fibromyalgia patients benefit from deep tissue massages. During the treatment, a therapist may use his or her elbows, forearms and feet along with their palms and fingers. He or she will typically use long strokes while kneading the muscles in deep circular patterns. Your therapist will also be able to address specific tender points and ease muscle knots.
  3. Massage therapy can be customised as per your requirements and sensitivity. Fibromyalgia patients are very sensitive to touch and hence, to benefit from a massage, it is essential, to be honest with your therapist and tell him or her the level of pressure you can handle.
  4. Massage therapy not only helps deal with fibromyalgia-related pain, but can also help treat insomnia that accompanies it. After a massage, you are more likely to have a restful sleep that does not make you wake up feeling tired. Having a good night’s sleep is important for fibromyalgia patients as it is during this time that the body restores and rebuilds itself.
  5. Massage therapy can also help manage the stress and anxiety that results from fibromyalgia pain. As the therapist addresses the various pressure points on the body, stress, anxiety and depression are relieved. Some theories also suggest that a massage blocks pain signals from reaching the brain while others suggest that a massage can stimulate the release of serotonin or endorphins.

Though a massage may feel like a simple procedure, the wrong massage can cause worsen your pain. Hence, it is important to work with a professional masseuse to treat your aches and pains. Following a regular massage schedule can also help manage your discomfort better. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Pain Management Specialist.
