From childhood onwards my neck is little bent and still somewhere I forgot to make it straight like while driving bike many people told me why your neck is not straight what to do with my neck? I am 20 year old boy.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. Get back to me thereafter.

I am 25 years old male having swelling in left leg near knee since 4 years. What should I do?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

I am 25 years old male having swelling in left leg near knee since 4 years. What should I do?
Hi Thanks for your query and Welcome to Lybrate. I am Dr Akshay from Fortis Hospital, New Delhi. There are many causes of swelling in the legs. Most common reason is postural and many patients develop it when they stand for a long time, but as soon as they elevate their leg up , the swelling subsides. It can happen after any injury which is a priority to diagnose and treat accordingly. Also there could be infection or inflammation which can lead to swelling. Sometimes heavy physical activity may also lead to swelling in your calf muscles . But we have to look at medical causes as well, chronic cardiac conditions can lead to swelling, any pathology which leads to low proteins in the body like deranged LFT, KFT etc can also lead to swelling.Hypothyroidism can also lead to generalized swelling like appearance in the body. So for accurate diagnosis we need to clinically evaluate and get appropriate tests : CBC, ESR, CRP, LFT, KFT, Serum Electrolytes and Thyroid profile . Please get back to me should you need more information or with test results. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation. Thanks & Regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena Consultant Orthopaedics Fortis Hospital, New Delhi

I am 18 years old and I got each night night fall means sperms lose itself when I am sleeping. What to do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Sindhudurg
I am 18 years old and I got each night night fall means sperms lose itself when I am sleeping. What to do?
Night fall is a term applied to the involuntary discharge of semen during sleep. In the beginning such discharges take place by an amorous and sexual dream and consequently erection is attained fully and semen is discharged. Once this disease is not cured, such discharges take place quite frequently even without dreams and erection. Nocturnal Emission is a one kind of problematic condition, which harasses the males at some point in their life. With frequent nocturnal emission males experience fatigue, low desire for lovemaking, problems related to erections and also premature ejaculation. Along with these problems others like back pain, testicular pain, burning during urination, irritated behavior and anxiety can also creep up. Homoepathic treatment for night emission in men can not only stop nocturnal emissions but also alleviate side effects of the problem. Adult males generally develop this problem due to weak nerves, lesser muscular strength, fatigue, lethargic lifestyle, diseases and due to side effects of medicines. Also too much alcohol, smoking, drugs or too much coition, hand practice or erotic fantasies and thoughts can cause frequent nocturnal emissions.

Sir/ madam my father is addicted with tabbaco and I wan to quite their this habbiy I am requesting you to help him so he can quit it easily.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Ideally you must spend a lot of time convincing him to stop the smoking. Of course he will agree sometimes and sometimes he will change his mind. Giving up is difficult but if you highlight the dangers of smoking regularly he may one day decide to quit. Never give up on him. Because of his age and quantity of cigarettes smoked and the length of abuse, he will find is even harder. When quitting, he must take one day at a time. If he looks too far ahead he will get discouraged and will give up. If he sits and counts the number of days he has given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. He must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if he fails one day, he must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. His persistence and yours will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But his desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms him about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and he must remind himself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So he must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for him. In fact it is highly toxic too. He will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. He should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time he feels like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. He may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. He may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep him occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i. E. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that he has quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if he accidentally/willfully takes a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – he can start the cessation all over again. He must persevere with the best support until he defeats this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. Everyone who can help him should be involved until he succeeds. If all this does not work, you can admit him into a rehabilitation center and let him stay there until he has completely quit the habit.

Can we sleep at 4: 30 in the morning and get up at 10: 30 am instead of sleeping at 10 pm and getting up at 6 am?

Can we sleep at 4: 30 in the morning and get up at 10: 30 am instead of sleeping at 10 pm and getting up at 6 am?
No ..try to avoid that ...becoz there are plenty of hormones in the body that have diurnal cycles i.e hormones dip in night and increase in morning...reversing the rhythm of hormones may lead to plenty of hormonal disorders creating various illness in future..

Sir I am bypass patient since last 1 and half year. I am regularly doing pranaiyam for 45 minutes and 45 minutes walk...
B 12 is present in non veg items and yellow of egg is a good source, if you eat. For vegetarians they do need supplements and there are plenty of them available. Vit d is a sunlight vitamin generated in liver with the help of sunlight, uninterrupted exposure to sunlight for half an hour at least helps keep bones strong with the help of vitamin d made by sunlight. Good to know that you are walking for 45 minutes everyday, but it looks like your legs are not able to take the strain of a simple walk. Remember our ancestors are monkeys who use 4 limbs but we humans use only 2, this type of strain is seen in lots of women with a standing kitchen, something our grannies never complained, cooking for entire family while sitting. Take low dose vitamin d every day instead of taking a high dose once or twice a week up to 60, 000 iu, we need about 500-1000 iu / day. Remember vitamin d is a fat soluble vitamin and it does not get out of body by drinking more water like an extra capsule of becosule would come out, fat soluble vitamins a, d, e & k if taken extra get deposited within the body, specially in liver, we do not have fortified milk with vitamin d in our country yet. You need to take calcium for bones also. Take a capsule of shelcal 500 mg everyday, this is for calcium & d, continue with b 12 & heart protective medicines like before and put less strain on legs only, involve entire body in exercise, do rowing exercises for arms, yoga & meditation, continue with pranayam.

What are the symptoms of malaria? It is a ver huge problem nowadays so please tell me the symptoms of malaria.

General Physician, Mumbai
What are the symptoms of malaria? It is a ver huge problem nowadays so please tell me the symptoms of malaria.
Dear lybrate user, the most common symptom of malaria would be high fever with a particular pattern for onset (sometimes there might not be any pattern). Usually a blood test for malaria should be done when you have this high fever. The doctor may prescribe you anti-malarial drugs sometimes based on your clinical presentation and considering which area you reside (endemic area). What one can do at home is, once you know you are getting high fever with or without weakness and no other symptoms (eg, cough, cold, lose motions, etc), its best you consult your doctor at the earliest. In cases where slight cough/ cold is present but fever is quite high, too, one should consult the doctor and not self-medicate. In cases of children, elderly and pregnant women one needs to be even more careful. Hope you find this information useful. Take care!

How to avoid smoking? My friends always have urge to smoke as they r practicing from before 15 years. Its quite irrit...
Tell your friend that a boyfriend or a girl fried will be averse to talk to him as they can't bear the offensive smell from his mouth. Also tell your friend that his face will become dull, wrinkled and sickly apart from suffering many life threatening diseases at a later age. Homoeopathy has a treatment for this, which acts internally without adverse effects. 1. Homoeopathic medicines help in causing dislike and aversion towards tobacco. 2. If a person stops smoking, he may experience some discomforts, constipation which can be termed as'withdrawal symptoms' because of these symptoms, the person may revert back to smoking. Homoeo medicines help in overcoming such problems. 3. Homoeopathic medicines do not cause adverse effects. 4. Homoeopathic medicines are not addictive like some other medicines and drugs take arsenic alb 200---once daily in the morning.
