Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight, avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Management: -Stretching or activities that place additional strain on the back are discouraged. -Sleeping with a pillow between the knees while lying on one side may increase comfort. -Lying on your back with a pillow under your knees would also relieves pain and no pillow under your head. -Some people seem to benefit from the use of ice or heat. Take care, do not use a heating pad on ‘high’ or place ice directly on the skin.

Hi, I am a 32 year old male. I am suffering from neck pain. I am not using pillow and applying ointment also but still no gain. Can you please help me as I can't sleep properly due to pain.

Neck pain is commonly due to muscle strain resulting from improper posture when driving or working on computer or mobile or use of improper pillow. Such pain can be relieved by simple measures at home. 1) Take rest for 1-2 days. 2) Simple analgesics like paracetamol or Ibuprofen to relieve pain 3) Application of ice pack helps in new onset neck pain in first 24 hrs. Later on application of warm pack will help. 4) Massage locally with analgesic cream 5) Perform neck stretches and muscle strengthening exercises once pain is decreased. 6) Follow good posture habits to avoid further increase in neck pain. Consult your doctor immediately in following cases: 1) Neck pain is persistent and progressive 2) Neck pain following trauma or accident 3) Neck pain associated with tingling or numbness in hands or shoulder.

Whenever i walk more than 2 km i feel severe joint pain in my both keen joints even i cant step down through stairs without any support and pain in both legs lower knee part and over toe.

I am a trader do 16 hrs I have to stay on bed. For trading and training. Now a days I am having severe back pain. I am using volini spray but it is not helping that much . So what need to be done? I was given some exercise too by someone. My question is the exercises the only medicine in this case? Or there are some medicines which could give me some sort of relief. Thank you.

Dear lybrate-user, medicines will help overcome pains. But for some time for permanent relief you need to take inferential and ultrasonic therapy following with excercises regularly.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. As is a chronic inflammatory joint disease which has a genetic predisposition mainly affecting spine and hips ( axial skeleton). I am not aware of any permanent cure for it but you are best advised to get in touch of a rheumatologist as it requires a long term supervised care. The disease process can be kept under control by a new class of medicines which are injectable but expensive. Also regular physical therapy with adequate calcium and vitamin d intake is important for management of pathology. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You should start exercising every day so that the bones and the muscle are in good condition. Go for a brisk walk everyday for 20 mins. Make it twice a day later. You can also do Yoga (pranayam and meditation included) to keep your body fit and maintain the energy levels. At the same time beware of the the food that you take. Try to eat only healthy food. Choose natural products over processed​ food, cold drinks etc. Maintain good hydration by drinking 8-10 glasses of water. Sleep well (7-8 hrs sleep) and get involved​ into something creative (any hobby which can make you feel good ). It's basically your lifestyle that will help you overcome your routine problems. You can give the feedback or ask any questions.

Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

I'm having lower back pain since last 2 months. My body type is slim and I have some fat on the tummy. The lower back pain subsides to 90% after bowel movements. I don't have constipation at all and drink avg 10 to 12 glass of luke warm water everyday. I have to go 4 to 5 times daily for bowel movements. My blood reports are all normal and uric acid is 6.5. So my doctor has advised me zyloric 100 mg 2 times daily. I have been taking it for last 10 days but no improvement. It is not due to less physical exercise or any heavy exercise. It's not muscular. I'm teetotaller and vegetarian. Please advise.

Hi, Limit sugary foods/sweetened foods Overindulging in these foods can lead to weight gain and obesity. Additionally, sugary foods, drinks and snacks often contain fructose or what might be labelled as high-fructose corn syrup/glucose-fructose syrup. Hello, follow advises given below 1.Avoid using computers continuously, take rest for 5 min after working for half an hour 2. In pain free interval do neck exercise (kindly learn exercise by registered Trainer) 3. you can use thin pillow while sleeping so that normal posture of neck can be maintained 4.Maintain proper posture of body while watching TV/ studying Kindly go for cervical X ray AP and lateral and review with reports

Hi lybrate user. At first you have to follow some basic things so that you get better results in a short period of time. 1) take food two times in a day only 2) drink only 100-150 ml of lukewarm water during meals 3) avoid late night sleeping habits 4) avoid oily, spicy, salty, junk, fast and fermented foods. A) take 30 ml of ojus syrup along with 30 ml of lukewarm water after meals. B) take 30 ml of aloe vera juice and 30 ml of daadimavleha along with 30 ml of lukewarm water at night before sleep. C) take 30 ml of audumbaravleha and 15 ml of honey along with 30 ml of lukewarm water, early in the morning on empty stomach. Do all these things for fifteen days and give your valuable feedback. 1. Take one tablet of crocin pain relief sos after food upto a maximum of 3 tablets daily 2. Apply volini gel twice daily 3. Give warm compress locally 4. Take rest if you have recurrent attack of neck pain a) take x ray/mri cervical spine to exclude spondylitis and consult orthopedic specialist b) sometimes it could be due to bad sitting posture while reading or working on computer. Adopt proper sitting posture, put neck rest, use soft pillow while sleeping c) do physio therapy and neck exercise after consulting physiotherapist

You need to get a standing x-ray of both knees ap and lateral view to assess any joint angle variation first. Followed by which you need to be assessed for joint cartilage damage by Mri scan. If there is damage it can be corrected arthroscopically so that arthritis does not set in at early age and you can delay or avoid knee replacement.
