What you are having is Gastroesophageal reflux disease Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This can irritate the esophagus and cause heartburn and other symptoms. Causes When you eat, food passes from the throat to the stomach through the esophagus. A ring of muscle fibers in the lower esophagus prevents swallowed food from moving back up. These muscle fibers are called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). When this ring of muscle does not close all the way, stomach contents can leak back into the esophagus. This is called reflux or gastroesophageal reflux. Reflux may cause symptoms. Harsh stomach acids can also damage the lining of the esophagus. The risk factors for reflux include: Use of alcohol (possibly) Hiatal hernia (a condition in which part of the stomach moves above the diaphragm, which is the muscle that separates the chest and abdominal cavities) Obesity Pregnancy Scleroderma Smoking Symptoms can also be caused by certain medicines Common symptoms of GERD include: Feeling that food is stuck behind the breastbone Heartburn or a burning pain in the chest Nausea after eating Less common symptoms are: Bringing food back up (regurgitation) Cough or wheezing Difficulty swallowing Hiccups Hoarseness or change in voice Sore throat Symptoms may get worse when you bend over or lie down, or after you eat. Symptoms may also be worse at night. If you are overweight or obese, in many cases, losing weight can help. Avoid drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Take acetaminophen to relieve pain. Take all of your medicines with plenty of water. When your doctor gives you a new medicine, ask whether it will make your heartburn worse. You may use over-the-counter antacids after meals and at bedtime, although the relief may not last very long. Common side effects of antacids include diarrhea or constipation. Other over-the-counter and prescription drugs can treat GERD. They work more slowly than antacids, but give you longer relief. Your pharmacist, doctor, or nurse can tell you how to take these drugs. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) decrease the amount of acid produced in your stomach H2 blockers also lower the amount of acid released in the stomach Anti-reflux surgery may be an option for people whose symptoms do not go away with lifestyle changes and medicines. Heartburn and other symptoms should improve after surgery. But you may still need to take drugs for your heartburn.

Cirrhosis of the Liver - How Ayurveda Can Help Treat it?

Cirrhosis of the Liver - How Ayurveda Can Help Treat it?

Nobody prefers to suffer from ailments such as Cirrhosis of liver. After all, it is difficult for a person, if his or her liver is not functioning properly. However, if in case a person is suffering from such kind of chronic ailment, then one can opt for Ayurvedic remedies, which do not have any side effects.

Why it occurs?
In order to know how it is treated, it is essential to understand what causes cirrhosis of the liver and what it means to have this dreaded condition. While there is a range of causes for the chronic disease, fatty liver disease along with hepatitis B and hepatitis C are the most common causes of Cirrhosis of the liver.

Alcohol consumption on an excessive level also bears its fair share of responsibility. As a matter of fact, Cirrhosis of the liver is caused on account of this sort of alcohol consumption and is responsible for more deaths than any other type.

Detoxifying your liver with Ayurveda
When it comes to the Ayurvedic way to treat this serious issue that is liver Cirrhosis, the main focus is on the complete and effective detoxification of the liver. One of the first things that is involved in this sort of treatment is a radical overhaul of the habits of the person whose quality of life is being seriously impinged on due to this disease.

De-addiction is a very important starting point. After all, it can be said to be only logical, that the treatment of a disease, which has been brought upon by the indulgence in a bad habit begins with the cessation of the habit.

Diet restrictions are also part and parcel of getting liver cirrhosis treated by making use of Ayurveda’s deep and ancient body of knowledge. In many cases, doing so does mean giving up consumption of meat. In addition to this, other things, which are to be done from the point of view of dietary changes include, but are not limited to, avoiding hot and oily food which tends to be heavy on the digestive system of the person who is undergoing treatment. With the body under so much pressure in any case, it makes no sense at all to add more load.

While all this may seem to be very cumbersome, it is to be kept in mind what wonders Ayurveda can accomplish and how does it work in repairing the damaged liver of the patient who is undergoing this course of treatment. The end result makes all the sacrifices worth the effort. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

Hai doctor I have swelling in my anus. I felt difficulty in going stools. After going toilet I felt burning in my anus. I have never seen blood. I am confused whether I am affected piles or anus cancer. Kindly advise me suggestions. Thank you.

It could be piles but could also be perianal abscess, fistula,or anal fissure. Please get examined by a general/GI Surgeon for confirmation of diagnosis and further treatment. Usually does not go away on its own. For early piles one can 7wait and may resolve with sclerotherapy but advances case require surgery. Early hemorrhoids can be treated by banding / sclerotherapy. For advanced cases staplers hemorrhoidectomy is recommended. Not aware of any non- Surgical treatment for advanced piles. Surgical treatment however is very effective. Kindly get examined by a general/GI Surgeon to decide on mode of treatment. For complete evaluation and treatment, Kindly visit the doctor in person with all available reports.

Please suggest me a dietitian in Vasai. I am suffering from gallstones. Please advice
Hello dear lybrate-user, Warm welcome to Lybrate. I have evaluated your query thoroughly. As such there is no need of dietitian for gall stone condition as you have to simply avoid excess of oily spicy, non veg, dairy fat, junk foods till possible for preventing recurrent bouts of pain. Hope this clears your query. Wishing you fine recovery. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards take care.
