Dear Pavan, go for a complete detox of ur body with the help of ayurveda's Panchakarma therapy. Hello doctor, I slapped my brother 2 days back, after continuous complain about ear ringing, we went to doctor today and doc told that it might be due to eardrum rupture but he is not sure. So he prescribed OTOREX, NUROKIND PLUS, CELIN. After giving ear drops, he is complaining that his ringing sound is more. Pls help me in this matter. Thank you in advance.

Stop all the medicines that you are taking. There could have been a traumatic perforation of the ear drum or the nerves in the inner ear might have got temporarily damaged. Get an ent consultation done to rule out if there is any perforation of the ear drum. Do not allow any water to enter the ear. Put cotton inside the ear & keep the ear dry for about 15 days. The ringing sensation should go on its own.

JOINT & BACK PAIN 1) Do massage with warm sesame oil or suitable oil for 15 min., afterwards take hot fomentation for 10 min. 2) Start natural calcium supplement. 3) Do regular stretching exercise 4) In yoga DO BHUJANGASAN, HALASAN & SURYANAMASKAR. LIFE-STYLE CORRECTION 1) Correct your sitting posture. 2) Take small pillow or back rest for lower back. 3) Foot should rest to floor easily. 4) Take small break after 1 hr & walk few steps. 5) Do neck & upper back extension, give feedback after 4 days.

Can you please specify which part of elbow are you talking about? is it at back of elbow, inner or the outer part? it will be better if you can actually mark out the site and send me a clinical picture taken form your camera. Is there any associated swelling, or any other s/s of inflammation of infection like skin redness, local warmth etc? do you feel any instability in your elbow? also lastly tell me whether your pain is restricted to your elbow region or it is a travelling or radiating pain coming from neck or shoulder region in whole upper limb region? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Neck advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck.

Avoid heavy weight, long sitting and toward bending, rest and heat fermentation twice a day. Do spine extension exercise and stretching exercise.

My orthopedic surgeon had advised me knee replacement due to oseio arthritis, tell me what can be the harmful effect of this surgery can be? how much time will be needed for rehabilition and what precaution will be required to be taken after this surgery.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Knee replacement for knee osteoarthritis is a very commonly done procedure but as like any other surgeries, it can have certain issues, most commonly there can be infection after surgery, pain, stiffness etc but if it is done at a good center and with good post operative rehabilitation, it usually does very well. Also rehabilitation depends upon whether one or both knees are getting replaced, for one usually 3-4 weeks and for both knees around 6-8 weeks of intensive physical therapy will be required. Precautions to be taken are to sit on a chair or with knees at approx 90 deg flexion to prevent eccentric loading of implant, not to sit cross legged, do proper physical therapy as advised by your treating doctor, to avoid any infections like uti etc. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello start physiotherapy treatment and learn posture care/ spine exercise. Meanwhile take few precautions. 1) take hot water fomentation for 20 min. At every 3hrs. Interval. 2) do not lift heavy weights or twist your spine 3) do not wear high heals do not ignore your back pain and do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.

Bakshji, first thing is she should take appropriate medicine to control her blood sugar, bp and hypothyroidism effectively. Blood sugar should be fasting closer to 100 mg, pp between 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7. Bp <130/80 mm og hg and tsh levels should be between 3 to 4 milli units/ml/ with this should consult a competent orthopedician urgently.

Hi I can understand your problem. For pain and swelling apply cold pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. Pain in back is becoming very common days it is because of normal day to day activity and lifestyle. Especially found lot of females complaining of back pain because of there day to day working and pressure. There could be many reasons for back pain. Many of the problems occur for which we are not aware. I understand your pain. Let me recommend you the treatment as well as the precautions you can take at home to get away your backache. Precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the inter vertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. Treatment- 1. Apply ice or heat which ever suits you directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2. Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Massage - ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage again relax for 5 min and apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area and consult your near by physio to diagnose the actual cause of the pain as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your back pain. For any doubt please inform. Best regards.

Hi . I think you may be suffering from plantar fascitis or calcaneal spur. Take an xray, it may shoe extra bone growth in your heel if its calcaneal spur. First we concentrate on pain relieving by 7 days of ultrasound therapy. Meanwhile you can do contrast bath bath i. E. Immerse your leg in luke warm water with pinch of salt for 10mins then cold water for 10mins. Do it 3 times per week. When the pain completely subsides then do strengthening of sole of foot muscles by crushing towel by placing it under your sole on floor. Dont wear heels, use soft sole slippers.

Back pain can result from bad posture, a sudden jerky movement, a lumpy mattress or poor lifting techniques. It can also be caused by injury in a work place, by a sports accident or by muscular spasms. It because of decreased flexibility, as people get older. There are also many diseases and pathological conditions that can lead to back pain. These include abdominal or pelvic disease, anxiety, arthritis, cervical or lumbar spondylosis, dermatological problems, kidney disease, rheumatic conditions, tumours and scoliosis. Our modern, sedentary lifestyles have a profound effect on the development of back pain; indeed one of the most effective ways of preventing it is simply to stay active. An average adult in the India spends at least two hours a day in front of a computer screen or television set, and back problems can be triggered if they don’t sit properly. In an age of mobile phones and computer games, such troubles are increasingly inflicting children of school age as well. Top tips for back care: For back pain, better to see your Doctor sooner than later. Take regular exercise – your Doctor can say what’s right for you. Hours in one position can cause problems – avoid computer ‘hump’. During repetitive tasks, vary your rhythm and take frequent breaks. Adjust car seats and on long journeys, take regular breaks to stretch. Pace yourself with heavy work such as gardening – don’t risk a disc! Watch children’s posture – they shouldn’t carry bags on one shoulder or spend too long at a computer without breaks. Avoid strain when lifting, particularly small children and shopping. Your bed could be part of the problem. Seek Doctor advice on choosing a new one. Take a hot bath or shower, soaking in a hot tub, or using a heating pad, hot water bottle, or heat wrap that provides continuous, low-level heat are all ways to bring healing warmth to your lower back.
