I came across this dental clinic in 2017 and I went in for a consultation as I had a lot of trouble with my sensitive gums. The team at the clinic was very warm and friendly from the time I stepped in and left. I got my teeth cleaned , and for the very first time I felt like I was in good hands. I was Walked through the entire process and even informed that I should let them know if there’s any discomfort during the cleaning. I luckily did not have any trouble. My teeth feel squeaky clean. Dr looked after my teeth cleaning and made sure I felt comfortable. She gave me a few tips on how to look after my sensitive gums and how to brush effectively. Overall , a fantastic experience for me. Definitely recommending the clinic to my friends.

1. Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces are one of the many types of the fixed orthodontic treatment appliances available to patients needing orthodontic treatment. It involves attaching the orthodontic brackets on the inner sides of the teeth. The main advantage of lingual braces is its near invisibility compared to the standard braces which are attached on the buccal side of the tooth.Lingual Braces are the real good option for those who want to hide the fact that they are undergoing orthodontic treatment,. These are the most invisible of them all! Lingual braces are strategically placed behind your teeth, so that nothing is seen from the front. You can go ahead smile, floss and brush without a worry. No one will ever know you have braces on.
Clear Aligners, also known as clear-aligner treatment, are orthodontic devices that uses incremental transparent aligners to adjust teeth as an alternative to dental braces.Clear-aligner treatment involves our expert orthodontist at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center taking a mold of the patient’s teeth, which is used to create a digital tooth scan. The computerized model suggests stages between the current and desired teeth positions, and aligners are created for each stage. Each aligner is worn for 20 hours a day for two weeks. These slowly move the teeth into the position agreed between the orthodontist/dentist and the patient. The average treatment time is 13.5 months.
Your Invisalign® clear aligners are custom-made for you. The aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time. When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every week) your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by your doctor.Only Invisalign clear aligners are made of proprietary, multilayer SmartTrack® material to gently shift your teeth into place.Invisalign is a modern orthodontic treatment for teeth straightening. It was introduced in the late 90’s and is constantly being developed. Unlike traditional braces, it does not involve wires, elastics or even brackets. Invisalign braces include series of transparent, custom fit, aligners built from BPA free plastic. The virtually invisible aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for the Invisalign treatment plan, look similar to teeth-whitening trays. A series of Invisalign aligners are custom-made for you, to move your teeth in the sequence determined by your doctor.
Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clearbrackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable. Pros: Less noticeable than metal braces; move teeth much faster than clear plastic aligners (Invisalign). The advantage of these brackets are that they are less noticeable, which means you can smile with confidence. Ceramic brackets are a great choice for both adults and children. The wires that are used to bring the teeth into the desired position can also be tooth coloured but as treatment progresses stronger metal wires will be needed.
Ceramic brackets are the cost effective alternative to incognito(lingual braces ) and Invisalign as there are no laboratory fees involved.
Simple alignment of the front teeth can change your smile in six months.
Oral health is about so much more than just the health of the mouth, teeth, and gums. Because the mouth is a primary entryway into the body, poor oral health can have negative consequences for the entire body. Teeth that ache, gums that bleed, and breath that smells bad are all indicators of poor oral health. Bacteria from the mouth can easily get into the bloodstream and cause infection and inflammation wherever it spreads. It is important to practice good oral hygiene and to see a dentist regularly in order to avoid serious risk to the body’s overall health. Here are some common and serious health problems caused by bad oral health:
Having poor oral health puts a person at risk for heart disease. If the gums are inflamed due to the bacteria that causes periodontal disease, that same bacteria can actually get into the bloodstream causing the arteries to build up plaque and harden. This hardening of the arteries is called atherosclerosis, and it is very serious. It leads to blood flow problems and heart blockages, and it increases the likelihood of having a heart attack. The damaging impact on the arteries and blood vessels can lead to hypertension and increase the risk for strokes. Endocarditis can also develop, which is an often fatal condition that occurs when the lining of the heart becomes infected.
Poor oral health can affect the brain. Substances that are released from gums inflamed by infection can actually kill brain cells and lead to memory loss. Dementia and possibly even Alzheimer’s disease can result from gingivitis when the bacteria in the mouth spreads to the nerve channels or enters the bloodstream.
The respiratory system can suffer as a result of poor oral health. Bacteria in the mouth from infected teeth and swollen gums can be breathed into the lungs or travel there through the bloodstream. Once there the bacteria can lead to respiratory infections, pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and even COPD.
Not only are diabetics already more susceptible to infection such as infected gums that lead to periodontal disease, but periodontal disease can in turn make diabetes more difficult to control. Symptoms can worsen as blood sugar levels go haywire because of gum disease. It is especially important for diabetics to take good care of their oral health to prevent complications with their disease. Because gum disease can lead to higher than normal blood sugar levels, a person with poor oral health is at an increased risk of developing diabetes.
It is imperative for expectant mothers to practice good oral hygiene. Hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy can cause a woman to develop oral infections much more easily. Any infection in the mother’s body increases her risk of experiencing pregnancy complications. Oral health problems in the mother such as periodontitis and gingivitis have been known to lead to premature birth and low birth weight in infants. Gum disease puts both mother and baby at risk for experiencing serious health issues.
There is a link between poor oral health and problems with infertility in women. Gum disease can lead to various overall health issues that can make it more difficult for a woman to conceive and sustain a healthy pregnancy. It can actually take longer for a woman with poor oral health to get pregnant than it would for a woman who has good dental health.
Having poor oral hygiene puts a man at an increased risk for suffering from erectile dysfunction. Chronic periodontal disease is known to be related with ED. CPD is an infection that occurs when gums pull away from teeth, which creates pockets that carry bacteria and allows the bug to spread to the bone surrounding teeth. Bacteria from diseased gums can get into the bloodstream and cause blood vessels to become inflamed. This inflammation can block the flow of blood to the genitals, making erections more difficult or even impossible to achieve.
Obviously, poor oral health practices such as smoking or using tobacco products can lead to oral and throat cancers, but other types of cancer have also been linked to gum disease. Risk for kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, and blood cancers is much higher for people who have poor oral health.
Chronic kidney disease is a serious health problem that affects the kidneys, heart, bones, and blood pressure. Infections in the body such as periodontal disease can lead to kidney disease. People with gum disease generally have weaker immune systems and are more likely to aquire infections. Many people who suffer from very poor oral health also suffer from kidney disease. Kidney disease can be fatal if it leads to kidney failure or cardiovascular disease.
According to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, people with gum disease were four times more likely to have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Both diseases have inflammation in common. The oral bacteria from gingivitis can increase inflammation throughout the body. This makes the risk for developing rheumatoid arthritis, a painful and debilitating inflammatory disease, much higher.
The best way to prevent serious health issues caused by bad oral health is to practice good oral hygiene and schedule regular visits our expert team of highly Qualified & Experienced Dental Surgeons at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center,Kharadi,Pune to know more about your oral health, & how to meet your oral health needs. To practice good oral hygiene:
- Brush the teeth and gums for two minutes at least twice a day.
- Floss the teeth daily.
- Avoid smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco products.
- Use toothpaste and mouthwash products that contain fluoride.
- Limit sugary foods and drinks.
- Eat a well-balanced diet for optimum nutrition.
Oral health is an indicator of overall health. Taking care to prevent oral health problems like gingivitis and periodontal disease can go a long way toward decreasing the risk for more serious health problems throughout the body.
Oral health education can be gender-specific because there are oral conditions that only women experience. While it is important for both men & women to brush& floss daily as well as have a dietthat will benefit their oral health, women go through physiological conditions that can affect their oral health. When a woman experiences puberty, goes through her menstrual cycle every month or when she gets pregnant, she has special health needs that directly affects her oral health. During these times, the body goes through hormonal changes, & these changes in hormones affects the gum tissues in the mouth.
Gum disease is called periodontal disease, & it is caused by a build-up of dental plaque around the teeth & gums. This plaque contains bacteria, which release toxins that can affect the gums. There are several symptoms of gum disease, such as redness, swelling & bleeding, but during the early stages, it is possible for the gums not to feel pain. It is more problematic when the gum disease is located in areas that cannot be cleaned easily, & regular brushing or flossing will not be able to help. Smile Up Dental Care offers procedures for deep teeth & gum cleaning to help prevent the on set of gum disease.
There is a condition called “pregnancy gingivitis”, because it is common in pregnant women. During pregnancy, there is a significant increase of progesterone in the body, which leads to gingivitis. Indeed, pregnant women are so sensitive to gingivitis that they can experience this condition even when they have very little plaque buildup in their mouth.
If left untreated, pregnancy gingivitis can have long-lasting or permanent negative effects on your oral health. Your gums, teeth & tongue can be affected & can result in tissue or bone loss.
Before her menstrual cycle, a woman’s body experiences an increase in progesterone, which again increases the blood flow to the gums. During this time, it is not uncommon for women to experience gingivitis as well have sores on the tongue. To reduce the pain & discomfort during this time, good oral hygiene can lessen the bacterial buildup in the mouth.
As mentioned by renowned Dentist Dr Ratnika Agarwal, Teeth cleaning & teeth whitening are two types of dental procedures that patients often get confused. However, these procedures & their goals are actually quite different. The primary goal of teeth cleaning is to remove plaque & tartar from the surface of the teeth, in order to prevent tooth decay & gum disease. The main objective of teeth whitening is to remove stains for cosmetic purposes. Teeth cleaning is important for the ongoing health of your teeth & gums, whereas teeth whitening procedures are purely cosmetic.
At Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center, your dentist is happy to give you a better idea of how these procedures differ & which may be better suited to your needs. We’r available for same day cleaning appointments & dental checkups, & offer a range of services. Call us today at 8237720741, 8999751605 or read on for important teeth cleaning & whitening facts.
Professional Teeth Cleanings
Professional cleanings are typically performed by the expert Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center hygienists, who have been specially trained to clean & polish teeth. The dentists generally recommend a thorough & professional cleaning every 6 months, though some patients may need cleanings more often if they are prone to decay or have a history of gum disease.
Some signs that you need a dental scaling procedure include:
- Your gums are red, swollen, & sore.
- Your gums bleed whenever you brush or floss.
- Your teeth have begun to feel loose in your jaw.
- You can see pockets forming between your teeth & gums.
- You have chronic bad breath that does not go away after brushing, flossing, or using mouthwash.
Goals & Benefits of Teeth Cleaning
After you have your teeth cleaned, you are likely to notice that they are a bit whiter. This is because the tartar that your Dentist removes has a yellow tint to it. However, whiter teeth are not the primary goal of dental teeth cleanings (but rather a positive side effect). The primary goals of cleanings when needed are:
Prevention of tooth decay that results from excessive plaque & tartar buildup.
Prevention & relief from gum disease.
Relief from bad breath.
Detection of more serious dental issues. (Your Dentist will screen your mouth for signs of decay, oral cancer, & other problems during & after your cleaning appointment.)
Why Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is actually a group of procedures that can be conducted with the goal of yielding whiter, brighter teeth. The expert Dentists remove stains caused by coffee, red wine, smoking,& general exposure to food & plaque over a lifetime. These procedures do not have specific health benefits, but rather they are performed for cosmetic purposes.
Stained teeth can be completely healthy, as long as they are kept free from plaque & tartar. If you are attending regular cleaning appointments, you may not need a teeth whitening procedure to improve the health of your teeth. If you are unhappy with the current shade of your teeth, look no further than our teeth whitening specialists at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center.
It's common for patients to wonder if they should have their teeth cleaned prior to getting a whitening procedure performed. In most cases, the answer is"yes." As mentioned above, dental cleaning does often result in somewhat whiter teeth. Plus, many whitening treatments are more effective on clean teeth.
Goals & Benefits of Teeth Whitening
The primary benefit of teeth whitening is, of course, a whiter & brighter smile. This can boost yourself-confidence & also help inspire you to take better care of your teeth going forward! If you are proud of your white, bright smile, you may be more inspired to brush, floss, & schedule cleaning appointments every 6 months. By keeping your teeth clean & avoiding foods that stain (think coffee & wine), your whitening results should last for years.
Some reasons you may want to undergo teeth whitening include:
- You are embarrassed to smile because of yellow or stain teeth.
- You have been using whitening toothpastes & rinses but have not noticed an improvement.
- You have a special occasion (like a wedding or graduation) coming up, & you want to look your very best.
Final Takeaway: Cleaning & Whitening
The moral of the story is this -- teeth cleaning is essential for dental health, and teeth whitening is an elective cosmetic process that can improve the appearance of your smile. If you are unhappy with the color of your teeth & would like to schedule a whitening appointment, call us today at 8237720741, 8999751605. We offer same day cleaning appointments & have made it easy to schedule your dentist visit online. Fix Gaps between your teeths at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center
If you have gaps between some of your teeth, you’re not alone !
Diastemata – the technical term for spaces between adjacent teeth – are very common. The good news is, there are several treatment options available if you’re looking to correct these spaces.
Is it necessary to fix spaces between my teeth ?
First, you might be wondering whether it’s actually necessary to correct these gaps. There are plenty of people who famously have gaps in their teeth. However, there are several reasons, apart from aesthetic preference, why you should consider treatment.
1. Difficulty Chewing – When there are excessive gaps between adjacent teeth, food tends to slip into these spaces. Because of this, food is much more likely to be trapped for long periods of time, risking infections, gum problems and cavities.
2. Speech Problems – You’ve probably noticed that gaps in your teeth (particularly your two front teeth) can cause a change in your voice. This is because air passes between these gaps, resulting in “whistling sounds.” If you’re doing a lot of public speaking, this might be an unwelcome experience!
3. Spitting – Another problem with having a diastema is the occasional spitting which occurs during speech. The reason behind this is that saliva flows through these gaps, causing you to spit whenever you speak.
4. It May Get Worse – Probably the worst thing about having a diastema is that, over time, it may get worse. Your teeth will shift as you get older, and having spaces between teeth makes them much more likely to move in unpredictable ways, and faster.
How can I get rid of the gap in my teeth ?
The good news is that these gaps can be easily corrected! There are two main corrective options available: orthodontic or cosmetic treatment.
Orthodontic Treatment – Braces or Invisalign
Get Orthodontic Treatment – Braces or Invisalign at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center
This is the best, and most effective corrective option for a diastema. Braces and Invisalign will gradually close the gaps between adjacent teeth. In fact, this is probably the orthodontic issue that Invisalign is most effective at correcting. (If you’re considering orthodontic treatment and are trying to decide between the two, take a look at our comparison of braces and Invisalign.)
However, orthodontic treatment takes at least six months, so if you’re looking for a quicker solution, there are also cosmetic options available.
Get Dental Implants at Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center
An implant is either a fixed or a removable replacement tooth that fits into the gap. This is usually best when the diastema is a full tooth wide. The replacement tooth will be inserted into the gum or bone, and sometimes attached to the surrounding teeth. Dental implants procedure has an extremely high success rate of 98% and is known for its long-lasting benefits. It is, however, slightly more costly than other options.
Cosmetic Treatment Options
i. Bonding – For this procedure, a tooth-colored filling material is applied to your teeth, widening them so that the gap is closed. This can be done in a single visit, and the results are immediate.
ii. Veneers – Another cosmetic option is to attach veneers – very thin shells made of porcelain – over the front surfaces of your teeth in such a way that the gaps are filled. Depending on the specifics of your smile, bonding or veneers may be the preferred option. Either way, the results are immediate.
iii. Crowns – In cases where veneers or bonding are not suitable, we may recommend attaching crowns over the front teeth to correct the gaps.
If you have a diastema, and are considering treatment, reach out to us and set up an appointment. We’ll be able to tell you which options are most suitable for your situation, and what you can expect in terms of time and cost.We have a team of highly specialized and experienced Dentists to deal with all kinds of cases and to achieve the best possible results.
Just imagine the situation a few decades ago when cosmetic dentistry didn’t exist, and people had no choice if they were unhappy with their teeth or smile.
Thanks to the immense development in the niche and today you have a plethora of choices to overcome every problem, big or small, about your oral hygiene or appearance.
Today, cosmetic dentistry is one of the most sought treatment methods. People do not mind paying extravagantly to get rid of the deformities or shortcomings.
Every day, you read about new and improved methods to enhance the smile and improve your appearance.
It is not just a method to make you more beautiful but to improve oral health.
Don’t get confused with the word ‘cosmetic’. Yes, it improves the appearance indeed but the approach is not limited to it. Cosmetic dental procedures correct the inherent health issues that are indirectly or directly triggered by structural deformities.
For example, misalignment of the teeth is not just a problem that hampers your beauty, but there are cleaning issues as well.Hence, when you meet a cosmetic dentist to correct the misalignment of teeth; you get improved smile and better oral hygiene.
Cosmetic dental treatment is a way to discover the smile that you always dreamt about.
Give your teeth a superb appearance
When the teeth are dull, marked or unhealthy, it hampers your self-confidence and esteem. In the professional world, you have to be presentable. Do not let your smile steal your growth prospects.
Find a skilled dentist who can perform necessary corrective measures to transform your smile and in turn your life.
Research and development happens worldwide to improve the quality and perfection of cosmetic dentistry further.
Choosing an expert cosmetic dentist is critical.
When you seek expert help to get rid of cosmetic shortcomings of the teeth, finding the best cosmetic dentist is perhaps the trickiest part. In the modern world of excessive marketing and promotion, every surgeon claims to be the top in the town.
Whom should you trust then? Well, the rule of the thumb is; always choose a doctor who is willing to spend time in understanding your requirements and expectations. Cosmetic surgery is a procedure that involves several stages and parts. It takes a long time to see the results. Hence, patience is the key.
Hence, choose a cosmetic dentist after proper research. It is always better looking for some reference. If any of your kith and kin has undergone a similar procedure, then the things become simple. You can see the results and assess the expertise of the doctor.
Cosmetic dentistry is a blessing for you if you feel inferior because of the poor smile. Take advantage of advancement in technology and let your smile add value to your appearance!
Which toothpaste should I use?”
You want to take care of your teeth, just like anyone. Keeping them clean and healthy enhances your smile while saving you money, because when your teeth are in bad shape, you’ll have to spend more correcting them. One of the basic decisions you’ll face in safeguarding your teeth is which toothpaste to use. Each day, the toothpaste you pick will clean your teeth and will have ramifications for years to come. Here’s a guide on what toothpaste you should use.
Toothpaste is only a means to an end. If you buy it and then are lazy about brushing your teeth, it won’t help. Indian Dental Association (IDA) recommends brushing your teeth after each meal (and at least once a day). Brushing your teeth removes all the harmful bacteria and plaque that build up when you eat. No matter which toothpaste you choose, it won’t help unless you’re serious about brushing your teeth.
The Science of Brushing Your Teeth
When you’re ready to decide on a brand, you should understand the basic components of each product. Most major brands of toothpaste include abrasive agents. Don’t worry about that label, though. Abrasive agents are usually helpful.
Abrasive agents are the ingredients that cause the scratchy sensation when you brush your teeth. They’re silicates like hydrated silica, calcium carbonate, and hydrated alumina. Some of these materials are the same as sand, which sounds weird, but the ingredients have a purpose. In combination with the brushing movement of your wrist, they’ll scrub away the bacteria and plaque. Conversely, the brushing motion wouldn’t sanitize your teeth without the silicates. Their purpose is to act as a cleaning agent.
The foam on your toothbrush comes from the detergent in the toothpaste. It works similarly to the products you use to clean your dishes and laundry. A detergent breaks down any undesirable substances. With your teeth, it’s loosening materials that aren’t soluble. The liquid in your mouth will dissolve any that is soluble, but you need help with anything that doesn’t respond to liquids.
The Importance of Fluoride
Any good toothpaste will include other components to make it more effective. Fluoride is the most important one. In fact, it’s the primary reason tooth decay and cavities have declined dramatically over the past 50 years. This naturally occurring mineral protects your teeth when you eat. Every food you consume leaves trace elements of sugar and starch on your teeth.
Fluoride counters this problem in two ways. It strengthens tooth enamel, the protective layer on the outside of your teeth, and that added strength makes your teeth less susceptible to chipping and cracking.
When you consume items that stain your teeth such as coffee, cigarettes, wine, tea, and sugary drinks, the enamel weakens. Fluoride counters this issue, although you should still brush your teeth more often if you smoke or consume any of those products. Fluoride also fights off previous damage by reversing the process of tooth decay. For these two reasons, when you shop for toothpaste, you should pick one with fluoride.
Other Toothpaste Components
Many toothpastes will also include artificial sweeteners. The minty taste that you associate with toothpaste isn’t a natural flavor. Manufacturers add saccharin and other ingredients to make the taste of toothpaste better. Without it, the process of brushing your teeth wouldn’t feel as pleasant. If brushing your teeth left you with a bad taste in your mouth, it might reduce your desire to brush regularly. Toothpaste now comes in flavors as diverse as lemon, grape, and bubblegum to make them more appealing – not just for adults, but for children too.
Toothpaste also includes ingredients to keep the tube from drying out. Without the moisture retention of humectants, your mouth would dry too soon. These are the same ingredients that keep you from having dry skin. Finally, toothpaste uses thickeners to make sure that the actual substance maintains a gooey form.
Which Toothpaste Is Best?
Now that you know the key components of toothpaste, you can pick the brand that’s right for you. If you’re a smoker or coffee drinker, you should choose a product with the highest amount of fluoride. Without a prescription, you’re looking for a brand that’s at least 1,000 parts per million (PPM). A product with the IDA Seal has received independent review and validation of its product claims.
If you’re someone with yellow teeth, you’ll want a brand with a higher number of silicates. A product that includes whitening will gradually alter the shade from yellow back to white. If cavities are a big issue, you want a product with special cavity-fighting power. If you have a plaque problem, you can prevent tartar buildup with toothpastes that are specifically formulated to fight tartar. Finally, if you have sensitive gums and/or teeth, the best product is one that treats the underlying problem of sensitivity.
As you can see, toothpaste includes a lot of components specifically designed to protect and improve your teeth. No matter the problem you worry about with your teeth, a product exists that can help you overcome the issue. Simply consider your needs and then mix and match from the options above.
Maybe your kids love candy a little bit too much, or they don’t take care of their teeth regularly, despite your best efforts. Cavities can be annoying, painful, & embarrassing for kids; not to mention how expensive they can be for you to fix. But there are things you, as parents, can do to protect your child from ever getting cavities in the first place.
Of course, you want to teach & encourage your child to brush daily. However, even if your child takes care of his or her teeth & sees a dentist regularly, this won’t make them completely resistant to getting cavities.
You might think cavities are just something kids have to go through. After all, you had one or several cavities when you were younger. But this is not true. Children do not have to get cavities.
Children are more likely than adults to get cavities
Due to the natural shape of their growing teeth, children are more likely to get cavities. When their adult molars first come in (around age 6), pits & grooves form on the teeth, & these areas are hard to reach with a toothbrush. Germs can grow a lot easier, and, therefore, tooth decay often begins.
Children also enjoy sweets & snacking, & they often don’t brush their teeth for the full recommended two minutes each time.
Dental sealants provide protection for your childs teeth
Dental sealants provide the maximum protection for your child’s teeth. This preventive treatment is quick, pain free, & proven to be effective.
How do sealants work? They are plastic resin coatings that are applied to molars. In only a few minutes, one of our qualified dentists will paint the sealant onto the tooth, & then harden the sealant using an ultraviolet light.
The sealants mold to the grooves of the tooth’s surface & create a barrier between plaque causing bacteria & the tooth enamel, thereby, preventing cavities.
Children don’t always brush their teeth after eating or know how to thoroughly remove plaque. If plaque stays on the teeth, it can begin attacking the tooth enamel.

How Is It Caused?
Tooth sensitivity isn’t something that you’re born with— in fact, it’s extremely uncommon amongst children and teenagers. To better understand tooth sensitivity, let’s discuss the different layers of the tooth. The top layer that you see is called the enamel. Under the enamel is the dentin which is a soft layer, and under the dentin is where all of the pulp and nerves are. Tooth sensitivity occurs when the dentin is exposed and is caused by either enamel erosion or receding gums.
Typically, your enamel starts to erode when you indulge in acidic foods and drinks, and when you don’t brush your teeth as often as you should.
How Is It Treated?
When it comes to tooth sensitivity, it’s pretty easy to self-diagnose; if you can’t eat hot or cold foods without getting shooting pain, you likely have it. Once diagnosed, you have a variety of treatment options including using Sensodyne toothpaste which will numb the nerves, getting dental sealants to cover the dentin, and dental implants to completely replace the tooth.
Having sensitive teeth can make everyday things like drinking water to become extremely painful.
