BDS

Hello, Bad odor in morning on waking up is quite normal sometimes. But if it is continuous throughout day his brushing might need to be improved and may need professional health. Also track his water intake. Multiple decayed teeth may also give bad breath. I hope he is not suffering from any medical condition which may have this cause. But now on wards help him to make a habit of twice a day brushing.

Use of Fluoride Products for Teeth

Dentist, Gurgaon
Use of Fluoride Products for Teeth

Fluoride products for the teeth have immense importance in dentistry. Fluoride is one such chemical, the balance of which is highly required for strong and healthy teeth. However, there is an optimum amount of fluoride needed for teeth. Anything lesser than that or greater than that can cause harm and serious teeth and gum problems and tooth decay. The best option, therefore, is to get a fluoride based toothpaste or mouthwash, which will keep on providing the teeth with the optimum quantity of its daily dose of fluoride.

The benefits of fluoride products:
Before delving into the types of fluoride products available, let's have a look at the benefits of fluoride on teeth. Fluorides actually save the teeth from dental caries. It happens such that fluoride makes a certain mineral bonding on the teeth which is called fluorapatite. This is not normally found in human teeth, but when teeth damage is done, then to heal it fast this compound is needed to repair the damages. This adds to the mineral bonding in the teeth and strengthens the teeth.

The fluoride products:
The various fluoride based products, which you may use are as follows:

  1. Fluoridated water: Fluoridating water is a simple process where the optimum amount of fluoride is mixed with drinking water so that drinking the water automatically keeps on adding fluoride to the body and keeps in contact with teeth. This therapy alone is enough and needs no more therapies generally. But not all water reserves contain this, and it's not possible to add fluorides to all water reserves. That is why the other fluoride treatments are needed.
  2. Fluoride toothpaste: This is one of the most common forms for fluoride treatments. Every common daily use toothpaste contains a 0.22 to 0.312 percent of fluoride, and this is highly beneficial to the teeth for healing of decay and fast repairs. It lets the teeth get stronger.
  3. Mouth Rinses: Fluoride mouth rinses are an option. The sodium fluorides commonly used in the rinses are used in small amounts in the product which is used just like toothpaste and washed off.
  4. Fluoride foams and gels: The foam and gel are used when the teeth of the child or adult are under high risk of cavities. The foam or gel is rubbed on the teeth, and kept for a while and then washed off. The typical application time is 30 minutes.
  5. Varnishes: The fluoride varnishes are just like gels, and they are also used on the tooth surface similarly. It's the choice of the dentist or patient as to which one they want to go with. Besides, these slow fluoride releasing devices, medical supplements and lozenges are also there, which slowly release the optimum amount of fluorides to keep the teeth strong and healing.

Soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices should be consumed in a limited quantity because they are acidic in nature. Acidic food or drinks often soften the tooth material which leads to the dissolution of minerals into the tooth enamel, resulting in cavities (holes).

Bleeding Gums - 7 Ways They Can be Managed!

Bleeding Gums - 7 Ways They Can be Managed!

If you see blood while brushing your teeth, do not ignore it; it could be a sign of gum disease. A build-up of plaque along the gum line is the main trigger for bleeding gums. If left untreated, it could lead to gingivitis or periodontitis which could further lead to the loss of teeth. Bleeding gums are also caused by:

  1. Vigorous brushing
  2. Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners
  3. Hormonal changes during pregnancy
  4. Improper flossing
  5. Deficiency of vitamin K
  6. Tooth or gum related infection
  7. Ill-fitting dentures and braces
  8. Leukemia
  9. Scurvy

In most cases, bleeding gums can be treated at home. Here are a few tips.

  1. Use a soft bristle toothbrush. Ideally, you should brush your teeth gently after every meal, but if that is not possible, begin and end each day by brushing your teeth.
  2. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol as this can worsen the condition. Instead, rinse your mouth with a warm saline solution or a hydrogen peroxide solution.
  3. Floss your teeth twice a day to prevent plaque build up. However be careful not to cut your gums.
  4. Avoid snacking between meals and cut back on your carbohydrate intake. Avoid added sugars as far as possible.
  5. Massage your gums with an oral irrigation device on a low setting. You could also put pressure on your gums with a gauze pad soaked in ice water to relieve the bleeding.
  6. Consult your dentist to check that your braces, dentures etc. are well fitted and are not rubbing against your gums or causing sores.
  7. Avoid aspirin and other blood thinners.

In some cases, these home remedies may not be enough. If you experience severe or long-term bleeding or any other symptoms along with the bleeding, you must consult a dentist immediately. Your dentist will be able to clean your teeth and remove all plaque and tartar on the tooth enamel and under the gum line that may be causing the bleeding. The doctor will also be able to examine the positioning of your teeth to ensure that there is no alignment problem that is reducing the effectiveness of brushing or flossing. Your dentist may also give you a few suggestions on how to overcome this problem. Regular cleaning and dental examinations are crucial to reversing bleeding gums and the diseases associated with it.

Hello Lybrate user, by reshaping im guessing you are asking about veneers and laminates. The laminates or veneers are usually placed in upper teeth from right canine to the left one, that means 6 units of veneers. Each veneer will cost you around 4 to 6k. There is no disadvantage as such but for few days you will have a liitle sensitivity which will subside by applying some sensitive tooth paste.

The cost for braces varies from place to palce and Orthodontist to Orthodontist depending on the brackets and materials used. It can be 18000 to 1 lakh. Regarding extractions. Now dere are special type of braces which can treat some of the cases in which extraction s required to a non extraction treatmnet. But remember not all cases. These braces are called Damon braces and you can google them for knowing more. But it is costlier than the normal braces. Hi, teeth grinding (bruxism) is a psychosomatic disorder, usually a person is under heavy stress. Best remedy for this is to make lifestyle changes like regular exercise, reduce intake of coffee, tea at night, meditation and breathing exercise, etc. For dental consideration it affects muscles of jaw and teeth structure. Best thing is see you dentist and get night guards (thin puc trays that covers and cushions your teeth) and use them regularly.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need root canal treatment. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Advise c. Amox 500mg 1-1-1, thrice, t. Metrogyl 400mg 1-1-1, thrice, t. Imol 1-1-1, thrice (contraindicated in conditions with gastric ulcer, asthma, wheezing, and allergy), and c. Becosules 1-0-0 once, all for 3 days only. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Pain on chewing is a sign of infection in the tooth. Suggest you to get the x ray done for that tooth. Depending on the level of infection. Treatment can be planned. Since the pain isn't severe. You should get the treatment done before it gets worst.
