Dengue Fever: Signs, Symptoms and Prevention Tips

Dengue Fever: Signs, Symptoms and Prevention Tips
Dengue fever: signs, symptoms and prevention tips

Dengue fever, also known as breakbone fever, is a debilitating mosquito-borne disease common in tropical and subtropical regions of the world.

This type of fever is caused by any one of four closely related dengue viruses, which are related to the viruses that cause west nile infection and yellow fever.

Signs and symptoms of dengue fever

People get dengue fever after being bitten by an infected aedes mosquito. The virus does not spread directly from person to person. Symptoms usually occur between 3 to 10 days after being bitten and last for up to 10 days after the incubation period.

The most common symptoms include a high fever (104 degrees fahrenheit or 40 degrees celsius), severe headache, swollen lymph glands, muscle and joint pain, mild skin rashes, and mild to severe nausea. It may also cause mild bleeding from the nose or gums and easy bruising.

When the infection is not controlled in time, the disease develops into the life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever. People with a weak immune system or those who have had this infection more than once are more vulnerable to this problem.

The symptoms during this phase include profuse bleeding from the nose, abdominal pain, excessive vomiting, low blood platelet count, blood plasma leakage, respiratory distess, dangerously low blood pressure and problems with the lungs, liver and heart.

There is no commercially available vaccine or specific medicine, so prevention is better than any remedy or treatment.

If you believe you may be infected with dengue, you should see your doctor immediately. Also, be sure to rest, drink plenty of fluids and take steps to reduce the fever.

My skin day by day totally drying and getting some itching so please provide some medicine.
Hi lybrate-user I think it's better to use nimbamruthadi kera for body massage. Also strictly not use hard soaps at all. Use ayurvedic soaps lyk Gly-seb for retaining moisture. Eat plenty of veggies and seasonal fruits. Drink plenty of water. Avoid outside foods. Regards

Toothache & Abscess

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Toothache & Abscess
The most common reason for a toothache and swelling is a abscessed tooth.

An abscessed tooth is an infection caused by tooth decay, periodontal disease or a cracked tooth. These problems can let bacteria enter the pulp (the soft tissue of a tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue) and can lead to pulp death. When pus builds up at the root tip in the jaw bone, it forms a pus-pocket called an abscess. If the abscess is not treated, it can lead to a serious infection in the jaw bone, teeth and surrounding tissues.

Symptoms of an abscess include:
Pain
Swelling
Redness in the gums
Bad taste in the mouth
Fever
An abscessed tooth can be treated with various treatments, depending on the severity of the infection. Here are some of the treatment methods that may be considered.
Antibiotics, to destroy the bacteria causing the infection
Drainage of the infection
Cleaning the space between the tooth and the gum if the cause is from gum disease
Root canal treatment if the abscess is caused by decay or a cracked tooth
Following good oral hygiene practices and routine dental exams will significantly reduce your risk of developing a tooth abscess. If your teeth experience trauma (become loosened or chipped), see your dentist as soon as possible:

Hii. I noticed m getting hair fall. How about taking biotin capsules. Will it work and if yes which one is best brand...
Biotin working for hair fall is the biggest myth. Biotin works in biotin deficient patient which you are not. Take a holistic nutritional supplement like cap adgain plus or Tab Biotee forte. And high protein diet with no hair oil and thrice a week scalp wash. It will come under control in 2 to 3 months.

Hello lybrate-user. Dark circles have various causes like 1.genetic 2.lack of sleep 3.allergy- certain allergies trigger blood vessels to dilate and since the skin under eyelids is thinnest in the body causes swollen blood vessels to appear darker compared to other part of face.
