I am male, 74 years, 62 kg. Was told that there was 'murmur' in heart during routine checkup 12 years ago. 'Echo gram' then indicated 'mild' prolapse of Mitral valve. Four years later, echo indicated moderate MVP. One month ago, echo reveals moderate to severe eccentric jet mitral regurgitation, anterior and posterior mitral leaflet appear thickened, healed vegetation attached to anterior mitral leaflet? Flail posterior mitral leaflet? Mitral annular calcification, Aortic valve sclerosis, trivial aortic regurgitation, no significant aortic stenosis, trivial tricuspid regurgitation, no significant pulmonary arterial hypertension. Normal BP and lipid profile. Not diabetic. No symptoms till recently. However, now feel slightly breathless when I take stairs for 2 floors or when I walk for more than 1 km or do anything strenuous. What is prognosis? Is there medication for this condition. Would prefer to avoid surgery for valve repair or replacement. Your advice. Am on Ecosprin 75, Dynapres 0.4 and 5 mg Atorva only.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Since you have symptoms of breathlessness, it indicates that your problem has deteriorated over a period of time - the valvular defects which impede the effective closure & opening of valves may require surgery - take the advise of your cardiologist as corrective treatment given will improve your life quality & you will be able to perform your regular daily activities easily.

Duolin is a reliver drug and should not be taken daily. Budecort 200 is very less dose and need addition of laba for good effect. Better get stepped up dose for asthma after consulting a resp. Phy. Get echo done to r/o col pulmonale which may be a cause for oedema. Nebicard though a selective drug and said to be not aggevating asthma, but better to avoid it or reduce its dose.

I am 59 years. Suffering from hypercholestremea & raised bp. got advice to take allium sativam q and is taking for last one and half month along with telmesartan 20+amlodepine 5. The bp is normal 110/80 but the total cholestrol is 253. Also constipation is feeling. Is it due to the effect of allium sativam? kindly advice.

No. Limit the amount of white bread, sugar, meat, junk food and milk products (cheese, milk, butter, cream.) and increasing fresh fruits, veggies, water and fiber (beans, oats,) also yogurt really helps due to the probiotics. Maybe you could do a food diary for a period, eliminate a couple of items at a time and build up until you have added enough other of good items to make the stools loose. Oatmeal helps out tremendously. Figure out the diet and once you've added enough good things. This could be a food allergy, do some research, usually its lactose (dairy), nuts, sugar, food coloring, preservatives. Try to avoid boxed and processed foods which have more preservatives, calories, fat, high carb. I hope some of this helps. In the mean time try (biochemic) biocombination numb 4 requires detailed questioning so as to ascertain your personality and to treat you symptomatically. Treatment is available, safe and without side effects in biochemic system of medication. Consult me in private.

What is the regular food as medicine for diabetics percent and also for blood pressure percent?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
What is the regular food as medicine for diabetics percent and also for blood pressure percent?
Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. I think your referred physician might have explained, its a test for confirming paratyphoid/typhoid fever. When it comes +ve, then, there will be chances for giving apropriate t/t. Salmonella is a bacteria which causes typhoid fever. The remaining are just like different grades. To know the intensity. Usually, in this kind of recurrent, high fevers, tests like blood, culture, widal tests will be advised for confirmation.

pigeon chest, is a deformity of the chest characterized by a protrusion of the sternum and ribs. the chest wall is rigidly held in an outward position. Thus, respirations are inefficient. deformities can have a significant psychologic impact. Some people, especially those with milder cases, live happily with pectus carinatum. For others, though, the shape of the chest can damage their self-image and confidence. bodybuilding techniques may be useful for balancing visual impact. Most commonly, pectus carinatum develops in 11-to-14-year-old pubertal males undergoing a growth spurt. the use of a customized chest-wall brace that applies direct pressure on the protruding area of the chest produces excellent outcomes.. This device is easily hidden under clothing and must be worn from 14 to 24 hours a day.
