My daughter suffered by epilepsy. Only two times one year before. Dr. prescribed to take, 500 mg levipil twice per day. morning 500 mg eve 500mg. Since one year seizure had not come. She is studying CA. CAN WE STOP TO TAKE MEDICINE. GANESH.

MD - Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Kangra
Sir you should not stop medicine. She should take the medicine ideally for one more year then the medicine will be tapered off and stopped. If she stops now she has a great chance of having recurrence of seizure then she will hv to start again that too for another two yrs. Its good dat she is seizure free for one years and try not to miss a single dose for one more year.

Masturbation is almost certainly good for your sex life. Masturbating doesn't reflect on your relationship. Masturbation doesn't have the health benefits that sex does. Masturbation is not risk, free. There's no" normal" amount of masturbation. Guys can get hung up on whether they masturbate too much. But it's not how many times you masturbate in a week (or day) that really matters, says logan levkoff, phd, a sexologist and sex educator. It's how it fits into your life. If you masturbate many times a day and have a healthy, satisfying life, good for you. But if you masturbate many times a day and you're missing work or giving up on sex with your partner because of it, consider seeing a sex therapist.

Hopefully this one use may not do any harm. But it looks like you have learned a lesson and will no longer use this substance. There are many controversial claims about marijuana, and we need to wait until the dust settles to finally know the entire truth. The medicinal uses have been proven to a large extent and the use of this substance must be limited to that prescription only. Until then please do not use it at all. The sensation of numbness and perception of reduction in touch sensation may be connected but if you do not indulge in marijuana, it should disappear without much ado. I hope you are one who exercises regularly anyway because that is always good for your health and circulation. So don't worry too much and only if this sensory deprivation persists you will need to meet a doctor.

I am unable to flex my hand fingers since 3 days it's in extended position. Can I know what's the cause for it?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
1. Usually no identifiable cause is present in case of locked fingers. 2. Possibly cause identified, is shortening of tendons/ muscles due to reduced activity. 3. Stretching of involved muscle group, daily twice and especially before going to sleep will be helpful. 4. Also to improve muscle activity calcium and potassium supplements, with good hydration (at least 6-8 liters of water per day) will be helpful. Food rich in potassium like banana, avocada, nuts, etc. Will be helpful. If finger locking, becomes painful and frequent, release surgery might be necessary. It appears to be possible early stages and stretching will be helpful.

One month ago my grandmother had a mild stroke. She was taken to Apollo hospital (outside) and there doctors given her acitrom. But now blood is coming through the gums and is not stopping. Then a local doctor given her injection to stop bleeding. It is to be noted that she was regularly monitoring INR. But even after this it happened. Is it necessary to take acitrom further, or she may stop it forever?

MBBS, DNB, Fellowship in Neurosurgery
Neurosurgeon, Kolkata
Dear mild stroke does not require acitrom. What was the mri report and echocardiography report? if she is bleeding. Urgently contact your concerned doctor. Acitrom needs to be stopped. But depending on the stroke, she needs other medication.

*Try to keep to a regular timing for going to bed*Avoid fried and heavy foods. Eat early and light food at night so that the food is almost digested by the time you go to bed. *Prefer fruits and green vegetables. *Fix daily work schedule and be busy with your work. Don’t keep pending problems in mind. Note down the points and leave them for next day’s action. *Don’t do stimulating mental work or keep watching TV which can keep your mind agitated or active. This will not allow you to sleep. LCD screen will also have adverse effect. *Day’s physical exercise makes you tired and induces sleep. *A warm bath in the evening will also be helpful. *Low volume music also induces sleep. *Keep your bed room neat, dark and cool. You may cover your eyes with bed sheet. *Drink plenty of water during the day rather than toward bedtime. *Don’t have stimulating drinks like tea or coffee Drinking a glass of milk before going to bed is fine. The problem can be treated by homeopathy and without adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine Nux vomica 200 twice daily in the morning and evening.

1. It could be due to essential tremor. The cause of the tremor is unknown. In some cases it is hereditary and runs in families. There is no definite treatment unless it is severe 2 other causes of tremor could be stress, anxiety, panic, nervousness, inadequate sleep, physical exhaustion, strong emotion, hyperthyroidism, hypoglycemia, smoking/tobacco/alcohol abuse/withdrawl, excess tea/coffee, drugs like steroid/amphetamine, neurological disorder, cerebellar dis order, 3. Investigate yourself to exclude the above causes of tremor after consulting neurologist 4. Avoid stress/anxiety/nervousness/ panic etc 5. Avoid excess tea/coffee/ smoking/alcohol if you have 6. Insomnia? what to do? constant sleepless nights:(

MD Psychiatry
Psychiatrist,
How to sleep well many times when the sleep is disturbed it leads to many problems in the body and the mind. In todays fast moving world sleep is disturbed by our surroundings and our activities. Here are some simple steps to improve your sleep. 1. Keep a fixed time to wake up every morning regardless of what time you go to sleep. 2. Use your bed/mattress only for sleeping. Better don? t use it for watching tv/browsing the net/chatting on phone. In case you haven? t noticed separate furniture are available for those activities! 3. Avoid taking tea/coffee after 5 pm. No question of smoking or alcohol? these are sure fire ways to have a disturbed sleep. 4. If you dont fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed, walk out of the bed to a different room. Engage in some simple activity like reading a pleasant book/listening to some melody. 5. Dont keep staring at the watch/clock while trying to fall asleep. 6. Try to unwind with a warm bath and gentle music before going to bed. Grandma would say drink a cup of milk. Listen to her! 7. Sleep in a place which is not noisy/bright? pretty obvious isnt it! yet we ignore it too often. 8. Consult a psychiatrist for help if above methods fail. Please dont self-medicate. We are here to help.

Good morning Sir,
Can you Explain me what are the symptoms for Malaria, Tuberculosis.
And what to you mean by medulla...
Malaria-Symptoms are chills, fever and sweating, usually occurring a few weeks after being bitten. People may experience: Pain areas: in the muscles Whole body: chills, fatigue, fever, malaise, shivering, or sweating Also common: fast heart rate, headache, nausea, or pallor Tuberculosis-The bacteria that cause TB are spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Most people infected with the bacteria that cause tuberculosis don't have symptoms. When symptoms do occur, they usually include cough (sometimes blood-tinged), weight loss, night sweats and fever. Treatment isn't always required for those without symptoms. Patients with active symptoms will require a long course of treatment involving multiple antibiotics. Medulloblastoma is the most common type of pediatric malignant primary brain tumor (cancer), originating in the part of the brain that is towards the back and the bottom, on the floor of the skull, in the cerebellum or posterior fossa.
